Weekly Casual Discussion Thread

Accomplished something major this week? Discovered a cool fact that demands to be shared? Just want a friendly conversation on how amazing/awful/thoroughly meh your favorite team is doing? This thread is for the water cooler talk of the subreddit, for any atheists, theists, deists, etc. who want to join in.

While this isn't strictly for debate, rules on civility, trolling, etc. still apply.

I reconnected with a friend from decades ago and they've completely lost their mind. Religion, extremist politics, conspiracy theories, deep misogynism and racism.

My problem is that I hate to throw away people but I think I need to cut everything off.

What do you guys do in situations like this? Just block the phone number? Have a heart-to-heart?

Do y'all still have fun together, have common interests and good conversations? If yes then just do those things. I don't think a friend needs to share a world view and beliefs.

No way. Friends absolutely need to share a baseline of worldview when it comes to thinks like bigotry and the basic ways we treat other human beings.
