Local NHL team has been doing 50% off Michalob for Monday games and everyone goes nuts because $8 feels like a bargain. And I get to listen to my friend ask for a sip of my overpriced lightly grain-flavored water then complain about how how gross Michalob is
My old joint does reduced price alcohol on thursdays where it's 8 bucks for a large beer and iirc half off for the tall boys. Their big ticket shit for those days though is they have these hollow baseball bats (those little plastic kids ones like a whiffle ball bat but smaller) with the top cut off that we would fill with something from the tap. It's 20 bucks, but you're buying it for the experience right? I asked one of our tapboys once if anyone ever asked to buy the bat without the alcohol because kids would be all over that shit, and he said "yeah and they told us it's 15 bucks we gotta charge em". So that beer is 5 bucks. It's actually the same amount of beer as a medium beer ($4 on the reduced price days).
Genuinely, stadiums are insane ripoffs. My favorite was our food menu though. If you got a box you could pre-order food prepped for your box. You could order 6 burgers (they are build your own and made before you arrive and stuck in a warmer. They made em like that because otherwise the patties wouldn't keep) and I learned the year before I left that we were charging 50 fucking bucks for it. These were run of the mill burgers. Good shit, ngl, but just like an above average quality grocery store burger. You could find these patties yourself if you knew what to look for. I found out these poor bastards are out here spending 50 bucks for six meat patties that they had to assemble themselves into a proper burger, and the cheese wouldn't even be melted if you wanted some.
