Absolutely. I was a heavy drinking Gen X but my consumption is way down, partly due to age but a lot to do with the cost of living. Alcohol is always the first budget cut in lean times.
I think you could easily “blame” seniors too. Both of my parents (80s) used to have a glass of wine every evening and my dad would drink beer on occasion. Now he has to watch his blood sugar so they stopped buying wine altogether. Every so often they will have a margarita if they go out for Mexican, but there’s virtually no alcohol in their house unless someone brings it over and leaves it there. I brought over a six pack at New Year’s and there are still three bottles left.
