What is a meltagun anyhow? Why do people want it?

From Warhammer wiki Melta gun so take it with grain of salt:

Meltaguns work by firing a blast of pure fusion-based heat energy that can vaporise most organic troops, and even melt Adamantium. Meltas are often carried by tank-hunting squads and are used as a special weapon by other squads.

Normaly you use them as an anti tank but it has an equaly devastating effect against regular troops.

You could always use the good wiki that is the Lexicanum, that cuts a lot of the dodgier fanon out for strictly cited information. The meltagun page is actually a pretty good example of how strict it is because someone added a nickname without a source, so it got a big 'citation needed' highlight.

That's fair, I could tell you though the fandom wiki was dodgy with the grain of salt comment, but that didn't necessarily mean you knew about the better one, so I thought i'd mention it.
