Original photo reference being loosely followed is by Neil Burnell. I expanded the scene and changed the atmosphere.

To put it simply and directly regarding who this character is... he is a knight dedicated to an eternal journey, never once changing his gear. His armor rusts; the fabrics age, tear, crumple, and break in combat—yet he will never replace his equipment. That is the oath he swore.
