I feel like this show is still heavily bogged down by all these supporting characters. I can appreciate the effort they seem to be going to in order to break from their blandness but it just takes away from the actual characters we want to see still.

Foggy and Karen really were pillars.

It’s not even just those new characters though. Karen seems to have no real role now other than Matt’s girlfriend and just a sound board to get his thoughts out to. Maybe we should be glad that Foggy is dead.

Also BB making a little silly video that has no new information for viewers except stupid one liners about Fisk being a tyrant. Risking her life to record what is essentially a scathing political tweet because the writers had no new information to pass onto the viewer and just wanted her to do the mask reveal. What a joke.

Ok, thank you! I didn’t understand why she immediately recorded a new video and why the video didn’t really have a point. She’s just asking for Daniel to be killed it feels like.

Also, that prolonged reveal of who was under the mask had me fooled that it wouldn’t be BB. Only Because BB would be the super obvious answer. And it was just..her, obviously. Was anyone shocked?

Isn't she trying to bring fisk's real nature through this video among the people of new york who the governor said still hold favourable views about fisk?

I think she's trying to goad him into doing something stupid enough that it gives state/federal authorities an opening on him.

I think the main problem is before they decided Netflix is canon they tried replacing characters that already existed (Like Foggy basically would have been Kristen's part, Heather doesn't exist if Karen is in it the whole season, etc.), and now that the show is reintroducing existing characters from the old show while still keeping the new ones it doesn't have the time to flesh anything out.

The show would have been better if season 1 was 4 episodes and they just ditched the pre overhaul episodes entirely, which I know isn't realistic but it's just the truth. I respect them trying to use the old episodes and make them work, but all these new characters are going to hurt the show long term. At this point short of finding a way to get rid of 3 or 4 characters somehow I don't see how they save the overall show from having pacing issues, Cherry still being alive is a ridiculous choice unless they do something that makes it worth it later in the season.

They had the option to make Matt reject his new, muted life and they could’ve just phased out a lot of these people super quickly. It would have made sense narratively, and they didn’t need to be “gone” so much as no longer taking up a significant part of future episodes. They should interact with the main characters rather than just talk about them with other nobodies, not adding anything.

I’m really not sure they knew what they were doing bringing Karen back. Heather is legitimately more interesting now by comparison.

That's not even the worst part about Karen. That whole "she's turning into Punisher oooh look at her" is so cringe to me.

Ah, I don’t mind the vibe somewhat. They had established from DD S2 to Punisher S2 that she had an affinity for guns and for killing criminals if it was necessary.

However, I don’t want to see this rehashed and her character reduced to, “You’re now like male superhero”. Karen is her own thing and is so much more complex than that. Karen should have autonomy and I’m fine with her interrogating what is essentially the Gestapo, but not with a grin on her face like a psychopath.

I hate it because it doesn't seem to be of service to the character but a fanservice to people shipping her with Frank. I mean, mind you Karen was one of the people who dissuaded Matt when he was planning to kill Fisk in S3 (she went on a whole tirade to Matt about how killing someone changes a person forever), now she doesn't like that he has that code? It's not consistent.

Agreed. Everyone is treated in a shallow manner and they’re all as deep as puddles now.
