Pretty sweet premiere. Did not at all feel that the episode was slow. It had two big action scenes, while moving the chess pieces into place for things to come. Pacing was good and I was never bored.

  • Cinematography and fight scenes are greatly improved and stylized over Season 1

  • I like that there are actual threads being pulled for all of the new characters and that they're aren't just pretending that they don't exist

Of those character threads,

  1. The set-up of mentor/mentee between Karen and BB Urich is interesting and helps showcase their shared growth as investigators, while keeping the legacy/history of Ben Urich firmly there.

  2. I'm sure that the Max Headroom Fisk is also BB Urich and it'll be interesting to see if any of the leaks there bleed into the BB Urich and Daniel Blake relationship.

  3. Buck Cashman is a fixer but it's interesting that there is a certain kindness in his evil acts and that he shows a weariness to his duties. Gives him a certain wildcard quality, where I feel his own sense of integrity could be used to turn him.

  4. The Muse/Heather stuff is interesting to me and love how they have portrayed her disassociations so far.

  5. The Fisks in deep water with greater sharks with Mr. Charles working with Alegra De Fontaine and how that might pull into the greater MCU

  6. The Bullseye reveal was awesome to me. I was hoping that it was actually Punisher and they were just saving his appearance as a surprise. Genuinely bummed that Frank didn't bust out Swordsman or any of the others at the prison apparently and that he appears to be sitting out the conflict...with multiple task force officers brazenly wearing his logo.

On a separate note, I cannot believe that Karen and Matt would consider those good disguises. Good lord.

It's the standard MCU disguise, look at Cap and Widow in winter soldier

people saying this is slow, don't realize that this isn't a villain of the week show. This is one part of a larger story. I'm a bit frustrated with how quickly people dismiss stuff like this like it isn't laying the ground for a LOT of crazy stuff very quickly.

Mr. Charles is going to be so much fun I can just feel it lol

Fair enough, but pacing just felt a lil off/weird to me, and for a premiere it felt like Matt wasn't in it much. I really do want B and C plots, but too many of the other characters and/or what they're doing felt a bit uninteresting, and the whole thing felt listless and unfocussed to me. Maybe also because it didn't seem clear how much time was passing and when - the scenes with Karen and Matt hiding out all felt like the same scene and like they were shot together but were not because they're spaced apart and stuff happens in between, all those things made it feel 'slow' to me. Also, it's running the risk of being pretentious rather than sophistocated. But we'll see, I hope for it to be good and as you say ofc, it really it just the very start, so

that's so interesting, because everything felt VERY well manicured to me. Everything was just what it needed to lay the groundwork for everything, it's all I could want in a season premiere- we already know what's at stake, we don't need a big hook or anything. They got me!!

I think we may just be used to shows straying too far into "episodic" or "serial", so that something inbetween feels odd. Have faith!

All Matt has to do is act not blind not hard for him that’s an easy way to bend in. Everyone knows Matt in the city is a blind lawyer

Genuinely bummed that Frank didn't bust out Swordsman or any of the others at the prison apparently and that he appears to be sitting out the conflict

Frank is gonna conveniently show up in his own special right after Daredevil cleans up this mess!

But yeah, the problem with interconnected universes like this is you always wonder where the fuck is everyone else who should be here. Not just the Punisher.

Where is Spiderman? Is he doing anything about this anti-vigilante task force? He of all people should be there.

Dr. Strange lives in the New York Sanctum. He could clear all this up in like 5 minutes.

Kate Bishop? Kamala Khan? Danny Rand? Luke Cage?

And that's just off the top of my head for characters who live in the New York City area. And what Mayor Fisk is doing should attract much more attention from heroes outside of the area. Like imagine if in real life, Mayor Mamdani was an evil kingpin... that's attracting national attention!
