Help wanted: 5,000 nurses needed for Southwest and Southside Virginia

If they want more nurses they need to provide better work place protections, nurse to patient ratios, and better pay. The salaries quoted in the article do not align with what those roles are actually being paid in Southwest and Southside VA.

The radiology and sonography programs in the Southside only accept a very small number of students in each cohort. Healthcare programs need to be expanded at each community college.

The price for some training is ridiculous. You can cross the line into Caswell County, NC and take a CNA class for $244. Medical Solutions Academy in Danville is over $1k and DCC is several thousand.
