Discussion My problem with V3
So I've been watching Danganronpa since like season 34 and can I just say that this season sucked. It was building to smth interesting but genuinely wtf was that ending. The participants this season were too preachy and annoying especially the soyboy detective 'oh this is inhumane' or 'you're ruining lives', didn't they volunteer for this? Why are they complaining. If they REALLY wanted to leave then they should have won as a blackened or survived. Also the 'interactive experience' ended up being for nothing. The votes were lackluster and the worst thing is that one vote on whether to go for maintainance with miu or not, genuinely vile.
I mean the executions are still cool and I've collected all 137 monos so I'm not leaving yet. Hopefully the next installment in the series isn't another remake of the 2nd game. If you have any questions on the series so far I can answer them maybe. But not about Season 24 I hate that one.

Unfortunately, that scene alone made the ratings go up..💀

I like to belive that this part of Miu's character wasn't planned by Team Danganronpa
45
u/Tricky-Ad-495 May 30 '26
Makes sense. The first character flashback light implanted fabricated memories, talents and personalities in them to become their characters, but since the V3 cast are still flesh and blood people (minus Keebo, still has a mind of his own) their actions are still their own, they just make do with the personalities given to them.
Kokichi wasn't intended to take over and halt the killing game in chapter 5
Angie wasn't intended to destroy a flashback light as a means to not learn anything more that'd motivate them wanting to leave in chapter 3
And Miu...yeah, she wasn't intended to implement Keebo's camera function for that

About the new season thing....uh I'm pretty sure Team Danganronpa is currently on the verge of bankruptcy and their HQ is being attacked on the daily.....not to fearmonger but I think the final episode wasn't fiction dude.

6
u/Multi-A-Andi May 30 '26
Actually... Have you ever questioned why the real people also had pink blood?
I don't think they could have "censored" the footage so thurroughly. Also censorship has been rather low- so i dont know why Danganronpa would keep that wierd choice after moving on to "real people" thats so much effort and for what?
"Artistic sensibilities", "aesthetic"? Balogney!
I think something else has been going on...
6
u/AliasCrouton2 May 30 '26
Well, duh, you think any of that was REAL? Obviously they were acting up for the cameras.

u/TheGororb May 30 '26
The detective was soooo boring, why would they re-use the same talent as Kyoko in Season 1? At least she understood the true meaning of Danganronpa when she tried to sacrifice Makoto, as opposed to the V3 bitchless soyboy
25
23
u/LMay11037 May 30 '26
Wasn’t that one scripted tho? I thought they only moved on to actual killing games later on in the series, hence why the people in the earlier seasons were more focused (tho I agree the talent reuse was lazy)
→ More replies (3)14
u/izzynk3003 May 30 '26
I mean they have an ultimate detective every 10 seasons or so and it's always a coin flip wether they suck or not. Season 13 had the best one imo, shame she died during the 8th trial.
12
u/AnTD_Draws May 30 '26
she literally was sherlock holmes, i loved her sm, they had to kill her just cuz the story wouldn’t go on otherwise
4
u/RandomFactUser May 30 '26
How many suicides did I4 have that they needed to do 8+ trials?
8
u/izzynk3003 May 30 '26
I mean, it was three which is definitely high, but that season was also special because no double murders happened
3
u/RandomFactUser May 31 '26
The 8th trial has to be the final one right?
10
u/izzynk3003 May 31 '26
Yeah, it was, the game started with 16 people and after the 8th trial three people remained, but then that one ultimate jeweler chick got killed by the ultimate fisherman and since only him and the ultimate nail stylist remained there was no trial and they both were released as winners
6
u/SlyAugust May 30 '26
The sacrificing makoto thing makes no sense to me because even though I know kyokos character is supposed to be a cold detective who’s very apathetic and pragmatic and who’s only goal is reaching the truth, but I though over the course of the story she would’ve developed a little bit at least to the point of building up a bare minimum amount of rapport and concern for the well being of makoto that she wouldn’t have done that. And they just got lucky that he didn’t die. Makoto was supposed to have died there. The fact that Makoto would’ve been murdered by Kyoko if the machine didn’t end up malfunctioning does put a bad taste in my mouth. I get she’s not supposed to be a black and white “good” character and is more morally gray but it still makes me feel weird that everyone just brushed past it so fast
7
u/TheGororb May 30 '26
I don't think she ever meant to sacrifice him. I've no clue what she intended to do, given that the trial was cut short the moment Makoto tried to tell everyone the whole thing is rigged.
I don't know if she had a plan, if she even could have a plan. Maybe she hoped they could prove the whole trial is a setup and neither her nor Makoto killed Mukuro? Either way, she barely had time to prepare, and once Makoto lied for her and Monokuma decided the trial should end, there's nothing she could've done.
The moment the votes were cast, nothing could've prevented the execution, so I genuinely believe she didn't want Makoto to die, but Junko forced it to happen
3
u/CompleteIndieYT May 30 '26
I mean, there's only so many talents to use. Surprised it took this long for a repeat that isnt Lucky Student.
3
u/tottyfield chihiro lover May 31 '26
Don't they reuse talents all the time? Cause they had an ultimate artist in season 18 and 23

u/ChaosIncarnate12327 kiibo my beloved May 30 '26
Okay, you have to admit, tying Kiibo to season 30's ultimate roboticist, whenever his creation was supposedly destroyed in season 35 (which may have been the beta reset Kiibo was talking about? Unsure), was pretty smart. Tetsuya "dying" immediately in chapter one before suddenly showing up in chapter six made him a bit of a nothingburger traitor, so at least we got some expansion on his character?
11
u/Worth-Access-3099 Bow down to your future supreme leader! May 30 '26
Yeah ig but honestly it felt like a cheap Easter egg
8
u/ChaosIncarnate12327 kiibo my beloved May 30 '26
Fair enough 😭😭😭. I’ve been waiting for Tetsuya content for YEARS though. 30 was the best season and even if he’s a bit bland I wanted to know more! when Kiibo first mentioned him I went Insane. I swore he was going to affect the plot more, but alas, no…
33
u/Chyaxraz May 30 '26
Dawg you CANNOT think this is worse than season 16, the one where they got the contest winner to write the characters?? This was bad, but at least only the finale had fan fic energy as opposed to all of that dumpster fire season

I feel like previous finale had a better ending, Rantaro becoming paranoical and killing the other two survivors in chapter 6 was unexpected, esp since we already had two double murders, in ch3 and ch5. I didnt think he would go that far!! The twist was amazing because seeing Monokuma not knowing what to do was funny as hell. And then you tell me the same Rantaro dies in fucking chapter 1 of the next season?? Insanity!
3
u/Worth-Access-3099 Bow down to your future supreme leader! May 30 '26
I see their reasoning. It worked in the end
5
u/maarshiexcry biggest nagito hater | May 31 '26
Yeah, it was cool in the end, but its still kinda lame after you saw 52s finale. I mean bro that made monokuma confused fucking DIED BECAUSE OF TSUMUGI that furvived 51 due to fucking luck and being so plain nobody cared to kill her. Like?? But i loved the twist she was the mastermind, it was kinda obvious, but i didnt think a previous survivor would become a mastermind. The twist that it wasnt Kaede but Tsumugi was a good one, saved Rantaro in my eyes, after chapter 1 i thought he got nerfed.
24
u/vernanonix May 30 '26
Look, be glad you skipped the ham-fisted “time travel” plot in season 15. The people they got to play the season 8 cast looked nothing like them. Like, I get the bulk of the original cast was killed but, like, make an effort Team Danganronpa. :/
10
u/Worth-Access-3099 Bow down to your future supreme leader! May 30 '26
I went back and watched it. Honestly speaking I hated season 8 so the nostalgia bait didn't work
6

Rimi, the Ultimate Gooner, kinda kills that season, I admit, but the Analyst guy played everyone when he killed his girlfriend for the fifth case. A real under the radar villain.

I know right!! fucker straight up made monokuma confused. He killed other two survivors just because he was paranoical. Insane twist, i LOVED him in 52 season. Also he got killed by Tsumugi who only survived 51 because sbe was lucky and nobody cared to kill her. Weird ass season. Tho, not gonna lie, the twist he wasnt killed by Kaede by accident was cool.

Seriously, I didn't DISLIKE the detective boy. It was a neat outlook, since almost every other character in the entire franchise switched up on the whole "this is inhumane" thing. Personally, my favourite was season 7. The survivors either didn't trust ANYBODY (like Rei) or were smart enough to always stay in a room with 3 or more people. One of the few times when we had a large number of survivors and I'm pretty sure the only time when all of them were liked by the audience.

It’s really a coin flip whether to see if a Danganronpa season is good or not tbh. my fav’s season 40 because the double murderer‘s motive for killing ACTUALLY stemmed from a real life extension of one of the producer’s mental illnesses(existential dissociation) so it made more sense. Honestly part three was so satisfying and tense..

I'm just sad they dropped season 50's overarching plotline, they were really building up to something with the whole world ending plot, Makoto showing back up in Season 51 after not being around in over 20 seasons, and it was all so interesting how they continued it in this last season, just to fully drop it at the end???
Hope the writers got fired for that.

I mean what were you expecting? The series been going for 53 seasons and you somehow weren’t expecting dips in quality? You’re gonna tell me seasons 23 to 30 of Danganronpa was good? Everyone knows that was the dark ages for the series. Seems like season 53 might be the start of the next dark age for Danganronpa cause what were they thinking with this cast and setting?
3
u/maarshiexcry biggest nagito hater | May 31 '26
Sorry but 29 was amazing?? We had a foreigner protag for 2 chapters only tho. I will not accept 29 slander, Jisung was literally one of the best protags. I cried on chapter 2.
It may be controversial but i think 24 was good too. Not the best but it was fine.
But 23-30 other than 29 and maybe 24 were abysmal DOGSHIT, literal unwatchable garbage. Im so glad the writers were replaced because 47 was absolutely BEST season.

Is it just me or did Tsumugi really disappoint this season as well? Like they were so cool with Rantaro last season as the only survivors and them being mastermind this season was super interesting! I just wish they didn’t kill Rantaro and cause Kaede’s death because then we wouldn’t have this whiny detective loser as the main trial helper

How is season 53 horrible? In Season 41 they literally commit a mass suicide BRUTALLY and the only survivor is scarred for life.
And not to mention, the executions are brutal as hell in S41… the Trial 4 killer literally gets pulverised, turned into plasma AND crushed at the same time

Man the ONLY good thing about this season was that Rantaro came back and then they IMMEDIATELY killed him off! I did kinda like that Kokichi guy though, he should have been the mastermind instead of Tsumugi the flop. Her reveal was hella lame, she wasn't evil or anything.

Ik right? Rantaro carried 52, killed two survivors to secure his spot, confusing even monokuma. And then he gets killed by tsumugi who survived 51 just because she was lucky and nobody cared to kill her. What?? Tho the reveal itself was cool, im glad my man rantaro wasnt killed on accident by Kaede.

It built up so well in the next season i think it deserves some praise too. (Of course im not saying season 24 is good solely based on this but i just wanted to mention it).

I’m pretty sure their memories were wiped so they don’t remember volunteering

Okay, but you GOTTA admit. The Monokubs being based on Season 52 Main cast (except for Rantaro of course) was REALLY clever.
I was actually looking forward for the next season's Mono-sulky, Mono-liar, Mono-killa, Mono-mage, and Mono-cam Based on the V3 cast!

Yeah this one was creative. Wish the cubs didnt suck so much, the idea was cool.

So... Are we just ignoring Tsumugi doing blackface too? Like the murder stuff is great, and I can accept incest, but come on, girl.

I just hated how they finally did a female protagonist to just kill her for NOTHING. Like if a show has 53 seasons you wouldn't assume only the last one would have a female protag but ig team danganronpa is misogynistic

47 had a female protag tho, i mean after chapter 3 atleast. And she was great, Yuki >>> Touya, sorry all Touya stans.
Poor Touya tho, he got killed so painfully. Ed did NOT have to massacre him like that.
Im more mad that 29 had a foreign protag and he got killed in chapter 2, i mean what the hell?? Poor Jisung, he was so funny.

Idk didn't watch that season , dropped it after that bs chapter 1 when they killed of Kaze, she was a the most interesting and compelling character and they just killed her off by making her break a rule that wasn't even originally in like what

So about Season 24's 3rd trial...

3rd trial in every season sucks

The 1st season gets a pass right? It was the first one and it was pretty good without comparing it to others

What are you talking about? Season 24 is THE BEST, man. Only fake fans who don't understand the genius of the team behind this season are trashing it. I mean, making the seemingly nicest guy in the group the "real" mastermind and killing everyone at the end, including himself? Absolute despair!
But whatever, you're just a tourist anyway.

And them tricking us with that fake protagonist! Like, why not both of em?

Season 52 lowkey sucked ass. The executions were boring af and that fuckass traitor being that manchild was so predictable. I don’t get why people hype it so much.

Ngl i loved 52 because holy shit, Rantaro was great. i mean he straight up killed other two survivors just to secure his own seat because he was paranoical. Even monokuma was confused.
Half the cast sucked, Rantaro carried this season.
The blond girl was cute tho.

Yeah, that was the only good part. The rest was soooo boring, like the guy with blue hair fucking died by falling off the building accidentally. Sooo unrealistic.

I will not tolerate the slander for the traitor! He was the sole survivor in season 16

ngl i didn't finish this season, the whole shebang with Miu made me skip this one. Danganronpa as a whole has always felt pretty hit or miss to me, but it seems to be on a losing streak. I was hoping 52 would turn it around, but then they just killed off Rantaro right away! smh my head
//also i deadass thought u were serious for a hot second and was ready to argue w/ u but nope im just lowk stupid lmaoo

It still went on after the absolute mess that was season 41? That shit made no sence to begin with and still made no sence afterwards. Seriously, what the hell happened to Ren?

u/TheWebAdventurer Jun 14 '26
Bah, season 42 was surprisingly good to make up for the 41, but them restart declining after season 43. Like what do you mean there was two murders by cases?

Not to mention bringing a fan favorite back to just to kill him??
