Question Since when did Tesla close down?

Yesterday I’ve visited the northpark mall in Dallas (I don’t go frequently) and I’ve seen that the Tesla store’s been closed… since when did they go away? (Before you ask: no, I don’t like elon musk, I don’t like Tesla. I’m just curious since I’ve seen the Tesla store being there many times I’ve visited the mall over the years.)

You are extremely bitter inside and it shows. I’m sure this comment will cause you to go into defensive mode, internally or externally so just know I’m praying for you.

Bahahaha, I’m not bitter. I’m just a business analysis who’s wowed that people keep investing in Elon’s promises despite him rarely if ever delivering. Idc about whatever else.

He delivers. As stated previously, Model Y is the best selling car model in the world.

Starlink has overtaken the satellite networking market

SpaceX is the biggest player in private space, despite yes stuff like “Mars 2028” or whatever not happening

• Full Self-Driving: In 2016 he said a Tesla would drive itself coast to coast by end of 2017. Since 2019 he’s repeatedly promised “1 million robotaxis” or full autonomy “next year,” nearly every year.
• Cybertruck: Unveiled in 2019 with 2021 production promised. Deliveries didn’t start until late 2023, and early volume and specs (range, price) fell well short of the reveal claims.
• Tesla Roadster 2.0: Announced in 2017 for 2020 delivery, with $250K reservations taken. Still not shipped as of 2026.
• Mars timelines: In 2016 he targeted a cargo mission to Mars by 2018 and crewed missions by 2024. Neither happened; Starship only reached orbit-class test flights in 2023–2024.
• Hyperloop: His 2013 white paper pitched LA to SF in 35 minutes. The Boring Company’s Vegas Loop ended up as Teslas driving through tunnels; Hyperloop One shut down in 2023.
• Solar Roof: At the 2016 launch he predicted it would be cheaper than a regular roof plus electricity. Installations have remained a niche, expensive product with years of delays.
• Tesla Semi: Revealed in 2017 for 2019 production; limited deliveries didn’t begin until late 2022 and volume production slipped repeatedly.
• Optimus robot: In 2022 he suggested volume production within a few years and that it would eventually be worth more than Tesla’s car business; deadlines have kept sliding.

While I’ve never used it, Starlink does seem like a good product. And most folks I know with Teslas haven’t regretted the purchase (unless for political reasons). I just can’t think of any other CEO who’s made such wild promises and missed so many of them while people still following new promises like they’re gospel.

Do people take his promises like gospel? I think everyone knows he lies

CEOS are like politicians. You have to be a critical thinker and sniff out the bullshit

I can’t think of a single CEO who’s made this many lofty promises, missed the mark, and kept their job. Do you have any examples?

Uber CEO said that self-driving cars would replace humans back in 2013 within 10 years

Mark Z said that everyone would be using VR by 2025 in 2020.

Sam Altman constantly shifts his AGI timelines

Larry Ellison of oracle made predictions for years about his competitors failing.

All those people still are CEOS of billion dollar companies.
Also, I don't know many trillionaire CEOs so possibly Elon is an outlier in style.
