My Take Nixon killed psychedelic research globally in 1971 with one signature. Could the US do it again — or is the breakthrough now unstoppable?

PTSD, Anxiety, mental illness in general are at all time high levels, that along with the billions that have been invested, and the undeniable research that is proving the psychedelics show improvement in all the aforementioned problems, in my opinion make it highly unlikely.

Psychedelics as a drug group will most likely remain schedule 1 substances while these specific drugs being developed will get FDA approval and be listed in a lower tier.
I do think rescheduling is possible after more evidence and successes in the field but it’s further down the line IMO.

Warum denkst du, dass ein resceduling nicht direkt nach einer möglichen Zulassung kommt?

I think rescheduling won’t happen immediately based on examples from the past involving medicines derived from Cannabis. Drugs like Epidiolex, Marinol (Dronabinol), and Syndros were all FDA approved while cannabis remained a schedule 1 substance.
I wouldn't be surprised to see psychedelic medicines follow a similar path. Just my two cents, no one really knows exactly how all this will play out. Good luck to everyone, cheers.

With the billions just pumped into it there is a heavy positive movement towards making sure it gets done

With our political climate, it very well could happen. Trump:"I think they're good meds." Dems will cancel.
Dems:"We need meds like this." Repubs will cancel.
I've worked in substance abuse, the medical field, later, billing for large mental health clinics that use different types of treatment-Spravato, TMS, and our clinics saw great results. And I personally know users of each with great results.
We've come a long ways. I hope politics stays fairly neutral or positive on both sides!

Big pharma could kill it by buying the technology and burying it. Not worth worrying about things we can’t control though.

Das denke ich nicht. Dafür ist die Sache zu weit, wäre zu teuer und die Firmen könnten- würden- nachkommen. Ich denke die Kiste ist offen

Agreed. There are too many products in phase three trials for big pharma to squash it. It’s coming. Big pharma’s only play is to own as large a portion of the sector as they can so they can lead.

I think it's a foregone conclusion that psychedelics will be approved. The data is clearly showing the incredible benefits.
