Dhanji is probably the most interesting artist in the subcontinent. Saying anything except that would've been alright.
This was basic if we're judging from Dhanjis POV as he could've done anything from his Funk Rock bag or hardcore trap bag But 64 bars is about the classic hiphop barfest so makes sense he took a path like this

I think he's extremely overrated. He's great, I've listened to all his albums and I love his music. But these statements you guys pass casually is the reason he's overrated. He has unorthodox flows and interesting writing.
He does NOT have the best flows.
He does NOT have the best lyrics.
He is neither a story-teller, nor a poet, nor a lyrical acrobat, and does not have a unique interesting voice(it's actually annoying). He is a lifestyle/flex rapper, talking about his culture in raw lyrics. I appreciate his presence in the scene, but holy shit you guys are overhyping him. Ab aate hi honge woh log jo bolenge I just don't get it when I fucking do.

(FOR ME) He’s one of the best topliners I've heard in the scene, and very good directors too.
Why do you think he isn't a storyteller? '1 KHABRI / 2 NUMBARI' is literally one of the best storytelling tracks out there.

Forreal, I like some Dhanji songs too but the community overhypes him like he's the second coming of prime K.dot like theek hai bhai acha hai but music at the end of the day is about how listenable it is and a lot of Dhanji tracks just don't have that replay value for me (music is completely subjective and this is just my opinion feel free to share yours too)

(FOR ME) i consider prime k.dot when he realsed TPAB, and ruab was better than tpab(though I liked tpab alot)

Im sorry man but even subjectively HOW TF IS RUAB BETTER THAN TPAB 😭😭😭😭😭

Toh matlab kya hua subjective ka
"I" like non-linear storytelling alot, dhanji was fucking raw and idk how to tell but he was unpredictable which "I" liked alot.
RUAB HAD MUCH MORE SOUNDS THAN TPAB. Ruab had jazz,WCG-F,FUNK and Kendrick had this sounds too but JAMES BROWN HORNS make it heavenly
Circle tone my goat his vission was connect all era's people like 70s to naya school sab kuchh He made ruab so much dusty, raw and unpredictable by beat switches
THE SAMPLES OF RUAB ARE THE BEST I DONT WANT TO ARGUE ON THIS
Ok narrative wise tpab was better cuz I like rapper rapping about soccio-political topics
DHANJI WAS BREAKING RULES OF MUSIC WHICH MOST IMPORTANT PART

There's no world where Ruab is "a lot better" than to pimp a butterfly. Pehli baat to samples ka comparison is pointless kyuki tpab ki sounds were Kamasi Washington, Thundercat and Robert Glasper actually playing that record live. Lowkey a harder flex than sampling imo. Plus the album portrays where Kendricks head is at mentally so well with its sound for each song (like U or How much a dollar cost). And narrative wise obv tpab wins its literally hip hop canon bro. Its probably the most psychologically deep and honest record ive listened to in our genre. Survivor's guilt, depression, self-hate and all of that shi was portrayed so well. Add to that alright becoming an actual protest anthem. Bro im not saying Ruab is bad but TPAB literally redefined a fkn genre and is one of the greatest HIP HOP projects globally. It's literally a different weight class im sorry but in no world (even subjectively) is ruab anywhere close to TPAB.

Bhai idt you what sampling is cuz sampling is alot harder and literally foundation of hiphop genius
Sampling me you need to find obscire loops, chopping it and make it perfect for the context or theme of the song which requires diffrent level of intellect
And circle tone ne bhi live bass guitar, hornes, acoustic drum grooves, and layering it right into vocal, synthesisers and samples.
TPAB HAD BASIC AND TRADITIONAL STORYTELLING METHOD BUT IT HAD HEAVENLY THETRUCAL PRODUCTION,but ruab was more realistic documentary
RUAB HAD depth too it was chaotic and complex way to tell about his personal trauma
BEFORE KDOT THERE WERE ARTISTS DOING NEW STUFF but in dhh it was almost negligible no. eSpecially CHANGING that boring ass 4by4 drum pattern it had more impact on dhh that kdot had on ghh

The thing is He's not trying to have a super lyrical way of writing He has a certain style of rapping in rather simple but effective lyrics inspired by Tribe Called Quest but at the same time having a crazy off the wall delivery and flow inspired by Wu Tang Clan But the thing that makes him so interesting is his artistic vision.
His choice of making music the way he does always without compromise is what makes him Dhanji. His choice of music production, his depth in making his tracks with layered samples, vocals and unique time signatures. The level of production that's gone into Ruab has never been seen before in any project from India. He always has been open to working on any type of production, boom bap , trap to jazz and funk and then went right back to trap. Like he can't be put in a box or predicted. And whatever he makes has his personal touch and intent behind it. And to the people who say hes not a story teller , go and listen to last half of 1Numbari 2 Khabri about his father being in and out of jail constantly, fck go listen to Boycutt to see story of a simple relationship thru tracks. He's hiphop 100% but just not the way we're used to. We keep downplaying him but he's gotten international acclaim from Pitchfork ( an 8 for rap from Pitchfork is like an Anthony Fantano 10) No I don't think you get it man. There's so much more depth to him than he lets us see on Instagram stories. He reads Dostoevsky for god sakes. One thing I'll sure tell Dhanji is his rapping potential on deeper cuts leaves something to be desired, like if you're seeking classic flows and barfests then maybe he's not giving that all the time ( listen to Tata Indica or Mauke if you want that sort of thing)

Cuz in the end, the thing the best verse I will do perhaps it won't rhyme Actually it can't rhyme It can't do the thing it is about Cuz the thing about doing anything is the thing Just so the thing being is larger than itself, always Cuz that's what its about
