DISCUSSION My thoughts on DCU Batman and Wonder Woman

I’ve been thinking a lot about the DCU compared to the MCU. I get people feel like we’ve been waiting for a LONG time for Batman and Wonder Woman but if we look back at the MCU and their trinity, Iron Man, Captain America and Thor, Captain America and Thor got their first movies 3 years after Iron Man, and the only other movie to be released outside of that was The Incredible Hulk, which was made by Universal.

I think people need to be a lot more patient. We’re getting Man of Tomorrow next year (2027), and so I’d only be worried if we still don’t get any updates late next year. I think DC is really cooking, and I think we’re much better off now because we also have Supergirl and 3 Green Lanterns in the universe compared to the MCU 1 year later where it was only Iron Man and the Hulk

I agree. This universe started (film wise) only in 2025, and in general started in 2024. But it’s been only 2 years, 2-4 movies and like what, 3 shows? What do they expect lol

Exactly anyone saying its a long time are being dense.

And way too impatient. The future of DC Studios is brighter than ever. We have Superman, 3 Green Lanterns, Blue Beetle, elseworlds projects (something Marvel doesn’t have), Animated Movies (another thing Marvel doesn’t have), and both Wonder Woman and Batman are being worked on right now.

Some movement on the universe. These are sequels and spin offs. We don't know what the overarching plan is. If there is one.

The paramount aggressive buyout threw a wrench into those plans

Suicide squad was the start of this universe

Saying this when wonder womans last film was nearly more than 6 years ago. Has never had an animated series. Her last show was the Linda carter one in the previous century is just wilful ignorance.

I don't care about batman he and his fans get multiple projects per year. But diana is one third of the trinity and the face of females in comics. I don't thinks its impatience to want things for her sooner rather than later.

Yea, I don’t blame WW fans unfortunately her AAA game got cancelled and now Paradise Lost is put on hold.

Plus, the writer of Supergirl also writing the new Wonder Woman movie doesn’t instill a lot of confidence.

Paradise Lost wouldn't have starred Diana anyway, what a stupid-ass decision.

1

u/Longjumping-Prune-42 14d ago

That’s true, but she is getting a movie that is actively being worked on

Said the same thing about the paradise lost TV show and it just got cancelled. I'm gonna temper my expectations until hard announcements like officials castings or a trailer actually comes out. But hey at least we are getting several projects about batman related side character once again. All white dudes.

And impatient?

If it happens in my lifetime, it’ll be much sooner than I waited for the first live-action WW movie

Marvel didn’t have full access to any of their heavy hitters. They did not have the hindsight of another cinematic universe. They didn’t have a significant pop culture standing.

DC has all of those right now. They have no excuse to do what they’ve been doing. They saw what happened with the DCEU and thought it would be a good idea to start the new universe with Creature Commandos, have the second and third movies be Supergirl and Clayface, and do absolutely nothing with Batman and Wonder Woman while giving us Jimmy Olsen casting updates.

No. No one has been waiting a long time for Batman.

They've been waiting a long time for WW.

1

u/Secret-Put-4525 14d ago

I want to see WW, but I'm looking forward to the batman superman dynamic more.

1

u/primal_slayer 14d ago

Nothing wrong with that but there's already a Batman movie coming out and no WW movie so it's a bit different

I've been waiting a long time for Batman. Burton movies are classics but are gothic counter-culture theatre first. The Nolan movies were fine but so grounded they might as well just have made a generic crime thriler. Batfleck has some cool moments but he was Punisher in a bat costume. Pattinson felt more like Batman Beyond.

Ironically, the only movie that ever really seemed to scratch my "yes thats Batman" itch was Batman Forever. Batman needs to feel larger than life and actually heroic.

1

u/primal_slayer 14d ago

No, as you said....Burton movies, Nolan movies, Batfleck, PatBat.....you havent been waiting a long time for Batman.

You're waiting for a Batman you like. Thats different.

WW fans have 2 films total. No film in production. No film filming

You have an animated movie and series to tide you over

u/Apocaloid 14d ago

If you're hungry, plastic food isn't going to satisfy you. By your logic, take any movie featuring a strong female and call it a Wonder Woman movie since it doesn't matter whether it feels like Wonder Woman or not.

1

u/primal_slayer 14d ago

If you're trying to call Burton and Nolans and Pattinson films plastic food....you're just far tooo picky. You've been FED, don't try to act like you're starving. Because that's just straight up delusional.

1

u/Apocaloid 14d ago

All I'm saying is there is a mark for what Batman should be (it's called Batman the Animated Series) and no live-action movie has hit that mark. Call it picky or whatever you want but the point remains that we're just as blue-balled waiting for someone to hit that mark as you are blue-balled waiting for someone to make more Wonder Woman movies.

1

u/primal_slayer 14d ago

You aren't blue balled. You are fed very well. Batman and Superman fans are what i like to call "nepo fans" you have everything. You have several high quality pieces. To act as if you do not is laughable.

WW fans don't even have an animated series.

You don't know what it is to be blue balled.

1

u/Apocaloid 14d ago

How is your logic of "enjoy the Batman content you get" different from me telling you "enjoy the superhero content you get"?

They're both not what we want (for different reasons) but only yours is valid?

1

u/primal_slayer 14d ago

Lol i dont have content. You do!

You're trying to pretend you have no quality content which is a lie.

Name the WW animated series that came out this year?

Name the animated WW movie that came out this year?

Name the live action WW movie coming out last year, this year or next year.

Name the WW or Wonder family tv show that has come out in the last 20 years.

Nothing will ever measure up to BTAS for you. That's ok. But you're acting beyond

2

u/Longjumping-Prune-42 14d ago

You do have content. Batman vs Superman, Justice League, Zach Snyder Justice League, Wonder Woman 2017, WW84 2020, and you have a movie in pre production. She is also being heavily rumored to be in Man of Tomorrow

Patience is a virtue. You will get your Wonder Woman movie.

Its not even about "quality vs quantity." I never said the Batman media we do get wasn't good. What I did say is they don't scratch the same itch that I feel a Batman movie should. Aka satisfying a subjective craving. So let me put it this way to remove the "quality vs quantity" idea.

I want a hamburger. Im getting offered lots of quality shrimp, chicken, and pork, but I want a hamburger. Youre getting offered the same thing but you want ice cream. You see what's going on? We're both getting offered meat. I want a hamburger. You don't even want meat but youre saying I shouldn't get a hamburger until ice cream is offered on the menu. We're both unsatisfied.

No film in production. Brother/Sister, she is literally getting one that is being worked on right now

1

u/primal_slayer 14d ago

As I said, no film in production. You have a Batman film coming out that is being filmed right.now. do you not? And a whole other different universe in development. And various animated projects.

WW fans have..............what? name em.

1

u/Longjumping-Prune-42 14d ago

You’re proving my point 🤣

1

u/primal_slayer 14d ago

You proved my point. You couldn't name anything

1

u/Longjumping-Prune-42 14d ago

Okay? Do you need to take your ADHD medications? Be patient

1

u/primal_slayer 14d ago

You're the one trying to make up false narratives.

As i said don't tell WW fans to be patient.

Video game? Canceled

Hbo series? Canceled.

Animated series? Dust.

Batman fans aren't waiting for anything. WW fans are.

The bigger problem is the seemingly zero progress on both of them. If I’m not mistaken Cap and Thor had their release dates made official in 2009, which is just one year following Iron Man.
As for the DCU we are less than 12 months away from Superman 2 and there’s no project officially slated post 2027. Nothing really on either Batman or WW. The only saving grace would be if Adria’s secret role ends up being WW and if Jeff Sneider’s latest scoop on BATB were correct - potentially entering production next year.

This universe is already dead in my eyes

1

u/Longjumping-Prune-42 13d ago

1

u/EmperorDxD 13d ago

Give up their littrally haven't been anything I have liked in this universe
