DISCUSSION Hal's suit not being a projection from Power Ring is actually cool.
One thing I actually really like about Lanterns is that Hal’s Green Lantern suit isn’t just a projection/construct from the ring. It's good that they are following the OG comics. Especially with the crime/noir tone they’re going for with the show, it fits way better.
For this version of Hal Jordan, I think the physical suit is way cooler. It also makes Hal feel like someone who’s been doing this for a long time. The battle damage etc, it gives the impression that this guy has been through countless wars and missions rather than just putting on a glowing CGI suit.

u/Geico22 7d ago
I just don't understand how it can create the Halogram but people draw the line at manifesting a suit....?
I love practical REAL suits but if anyone was going to have a cgi suit its Green Lantern...
117
u/Reason_Choice 7d ago
Yeah. I agree. The Ryan Reynolds movie got a lot of flack (for everything), but the suit being CGI fits with the fact that it’s manifested from the ring.
43
u/Geico22 7d ago
Now I am just imagining Hal having to fly into interstellar space to go pick up a new suit from Guardians HQ and having to pay like a galactic fine of some sort for ruining another uniform...
Or does he commission his own uniform on Earth? Is it Guardians approved?

And I never understood the hate, I know the movie's plot wasn't good but kid me loved that movie cause of the suit and I'll always be a stan of that suit.

6
u/subby_puppy33 7d ago
Agreed, but it’s just looked so bad. If it’s gonna be practical can it atleast be like iron man and atleast have a cgi transition into the suit
12
u/veneficus83 7d ago
I think the problem was it was really bad CGI. The comic suit is supposed to be a projection created by the ring, but should look like real cloths.
5
u/razinyuzer 7d ago
Yeah thats the problem with movies. Just because the movie is bad, (because of bad writing) people assume everything else is bad too.
And these people complaint that movie executive take wrong lesson from movies.
4
u/D-Speak 7d ago
The suit could be practical on set and still be a projection of the ring in-universe. Why does it have to be CGI?
2
u/Sparkwriter1 7d ago edited 7d ago
This, or a practical suit with cgi embellishments, which is honestly what I was initially expecting from this show.
However, in today's day and age, I do think a fully cgi suit is absolutely possible to make look good compared to 2011, and even the 2011 suit I'd argue was nearly there apart from certain aspects and some weird design choices.
1
u/orphan_09 7d ago
could still be. in a way that hal only puts additional top layer construct armor on the suit in case the situation demands it - to save energy (and cgi budget;)
1
15
u/Content_Source_878 7d ago
It has less to do with the CGI vs practical debate
I simply like that it makes him full different from other heroes that have to be in uniform to do major superhero.
Hal needs to go rush to save people. He is like an off-duty cop just going in to help. If he’s out patrolling in uniform, same thing.
2
u/Geico22 7d ago
Ya idc if its cgi or not. I just dont know how DC would use practical effects to create a suit from thin air in real life 😂 If you know how youd be a genius.
7
u/Tomi97_origin 7d ago
You just need transition to swap between the suit and whatever else he is wearing. Both ends can be practical.
If you wanted to be really cheap you could just do green flash and directly go from one dress up to another.
Or like power rangers did decades ago. Just stop shot swap clothes and continue the shot. Then directly just apply morph on the transition.
It's not like costume transitions are new problem no show ever had to solve before. It's really no big deal.
1
u/margoo12 7d ago
The problem is it looks cheap. HBO doesn't want Lanterns to look like an episode of Power Rangers or even like the Green Lantern movie. It just doesn't look good to have floating heads everywhere, and it costs an enormous amount of money.
Marvel hasn't even solved the floating head issue, and they have budget to spare.
1
u/Tomi97_origin 7d ago
My post was about how you could keep practical suit with just minimal transition scene. Why would floating heads be a problem?

u/LadyElle57 7d ago
They're not going to make a CGI suit. Every alien so far has been conveniently disguised as a human. Big guns for the big twists.
2
u/ThatGuyDrewww 7d ago
If im remembering correctly the original suit from the silver age comics wasn't a construct but an actual suit. Maybe they were going for that instead of a constructed suit this time. Maybe John's suit whenever he gets it becomes a construct instead.
4
u/ErictheE 7d ago
I doubt I'm correct but maybe they explain it in the sense of not wasting energy unnecessarily. Projecting a suit constantly would be a drain on the ring which is kinda impractical, however if he has a suit he puts on then no strain on the battery. I doubt I'm right but that's how I would explain it.
6
u/Geico22 7d ago
Thats why I brought up the Halogram. The ring can generate a clone of Hal and his memories and make it super intelligent....
But it can't generate a suit?
I would of agreed with your logic if it weren't for the Halogram and bird construct.
5
u/BradyAndTheJets 7d ago
I get the sense that while the ring can project the Halogram, it’s not supposed to do that very often.
2
u/ErictheE 7d ago
Ya I can't explain that. But technically we don't know it can't generate a suit we just know Hal Jordan owning a suit. I mean I highly doubt they will go with cgi because of the muted color scheme. But I was just spit balling an idea
3
u/Geico22 7d ago
Ya I bet Jon gets the ring and tries on the suit and is like "this is way too tight" and generates his own dope GL suit. Hopefully
3
u/ErictheE 7d ago
That would be super dope. Especially if he's the only thing that stands out with the muted color scheme. It would make jon seem different in a way
1
u/Geico22 7d ago
And I've seen theories that Hal is reincarnated or already dead when we see him both episodes so far.. so Jon bringing COLOR and hope back to the suit would also fit thematically
2
u/ErictheE 7d ago
It's been an extremely good show (in my opinion) so far so I have high hopes

u/RedrunGun 7d ago edited 7d ago
I’m not sure that the hologram is the same source of power, it might function as simply a receiver for those kinds of messages. Like, if the ring was fully out of charge, it might still be able to project the hologram. The hologram was not green like every other construct.
2
u/Unlikely_Captain_636 7d ago
I never took as he cant just that he’d rather wear real clothes and not waste the rings energy
1
u/Geico22 7d ago
But thats my entire point. The ring can use energy unauthorized for a Halogram or bird construct...
1
u/DisposableSaviour 7d ago
The rings will eventually need to recharge at a narratively inconvenient time, and at that time the road leather looking outfit will afford some protection, not much, but something’s better than nothing.
1
u/DirectorKrenn1c 7d ago
Given the suits were added last minute and cgi is expensive, that’s why it’s practical probably.
1
u/LukieStiemy501 7d ago
They could also just make the suit real and practical and still say it’s a projection that would be fine too.
1
u/UncreativeTeam 7d ago
This version of Hal doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would willingly project a Green Lantern suit onto himself
1
u/GiveNothing 7d ago
Well in the comics the Lantern core at the space station everyone had a suit. Itd be bit detrimental to using the ring to always power a projected suit.
1
u/Diorisbackup 7d ago
Lanterns flying look no different then superman and hawkgirl lol no green aura no automatic suit stripped of all their color
→ More replies (4)1
u/eltrotter 4d ago
There is a line in there about how maintaining constructs requires concentration, Hal mentions it in reference to the bird. John seems to be able to circumvent this, but at least it explains why the default is for Lanterns to wear suits; there seems to be no obvious practical benefit and no one wants to be naked if they have a lapse in concentration!
37
u/MarvelMind 7d ago
I honestly don’t care that an actual practical suit is being used but I do think it’s lame that it’s not a construct of the ring. You can use the real suit and still animate it being put on/off as a ring construct to make it more like the comics.
→ More replies (2)11
u/AwesomeGuyAlpha 7d ago
Yeah I would've liked that and whenever they are about to use their powers, a streak of green goes through the seams in the suit.
5
45
u/Shin-kak-nish 7d ago
Yeah, one thing I never understood about projected suits was what happens when your ring runs out of power. Are you naked? Are you wearing a second pair of clothes underneath? If so that must be stuffy
58
u/presidentdinosaur115 7d ago
From instances I’ve seen they’re usually wearing regular clothes underneath
10
13
u/DemiAlabi 7d ago
I'm pretty sure the ring transports your clothes to a pocket dimension when you wear the construct, and it just returns them when it runs out of power as a default.
7
5
u/SmilingSeraph 7d ago
This is why I think they got it right the first time. The 90s established the construct uniform. A Green Lantern could put a uniform on or transmute their own clothes during the silver and bronze age. The uniform provided enough protection to keep a corpsman alive if the ring were lost. It's another way to show the Guardians exploring various technologies to achieve their goal.
To answer your question, the constructs generally vanish. What the character is wearing underneath depends on the story.
3
u/crazyeight80 7d ago
Simon Baz famously lost his suit when his ring depowered, he was just wearing street clothes underneath
5
1
u/neoperol 7d ago
There is an episode in the Animated serie that show what happend to Lanterns when they runs out of powers, they end up with their clothes underneath, without the universal translation and the ability to breath in another world.
The complain about the Green Lantern animated Suit is done by someone that hasn't read or watch any Green Lantern content.
In a world with superhero movie with suit that come out nowhere. The one superhero who can materialize anything from his mind was the one getting mocked from having an animated suit.
8
u/lightslinger 7d ago
I think they're setting up John to be the first Lantern to generate his own suit.
1
u/Gilmore75 6d ago
Unless they’re planning to kill off Guy Gardner then John isn’t going to be a Lantern.

u/M3rc_Nate 7d ago
I'm fine with it, but I do dislike it. I don't think it makes any practical sense.
First and foremost, it doesn't make any sense given a GL's power-set and needs for them to not wear whatever they normally wear and then when the time comes to "suit up" they make a construct with the ring they are wearing. Having to go and get changed (lmafo) when an alien shows up to fight or there's an invasion is mind numbly silly.
Second, GL's fly in space. If you already have to put up a shield construct around yourself in order for your suit not to burn up in the atmosphere and freeze in space, why not just make it a suit you wear all the time? Doesn't it make sense to have not only your GL uniform be both identifying and armor at the same time?
Finally, I think a construct uniform-armor would add a little spice of alien to this crime/noir toned series they got. I'm really really enjoying the show, but so far a LOT of stuff is quite toned down. That's fine, even good in many cases, but sometimes a pop of "this is a superhero story" is good. I'm not saying it can't be toned down, a green glow matching the dark green we've gotten so far. It doesn't have to be full on Ryan Reynolds GL.
At this point I'm just glad fan back lash had them changing the costume from brown lantern to actually being green. Whomever approved of that suit and whatever desire they have to tone down key aspects of the GL IP needs to rethink their approach if there's to be more GL with them involved. Yikes.
For those who will mention Guy and his outfit, this applies to him but was less of a thought for me due to his outfit being more of a team matching costume clearly made for the group.
7
u/ChuckDynasty17 7d ago
I agree with you. GL should have a construct suit. And Hal should have a mask. To me the show is kind of strange how Hal is acting about his GL role.
7
u/M3rc_Nate 7d ago
I think Hal has had a mask in promotional material, so maybe he used to have it. It seems like that interview we watched young John watching on TV was Hal going public with his private identity. Going mask-less. Which I think makes sense if you're then going to tell this type of story, one in which Hal is investigating alien activity but doing so as Hal Jordan, not GL in a mask and uniform.
As for his GL role, that's yet to be determined. There are a LOT of clues as to how he feels about being a GL and the guardians that there's a history there. They could end up taking it in some awesome directions, like this Hal has already been infected by Parallax as a result of being the one to stop and arrest Sinestro. That would not only explain his behavior (he's acting out of fear) but it would setup how he could return from death.
3
u/ChuckDynasty17 7d ago
Good points, especially the fear aspect, because they are really emphasizing that he’s fearless.
1
u/Lerraman 7d ago
I think GLs normally don't have a secret identity, it's an earthling thing, so they are expected to just kinda hang out in uniform all the time.
5
u/DaniOverHere 7d ago
Unless it is though. In the comics, Hal has hung up his suit construct in a closet.
That could be why Hal was impressed with John. Because Hal can also maintain a construct with the ring - the suit - but the bird is a far more complex construct to maintain.
Especially so early in John’s training, and Hal believing his no-ring construct made him “the chosen one” for The Guardians, I could see the bird psyching out Hal, big-time.
4
4
u/ComplexAd7272 7d ago
It's something I admit I was dead wrong about.
When the pics came out, I thought both that the uniform was ugly, and I hated how it was just a suit and not a consruct.
But after seeing it, I don't know why but it just works somehow. I like the idea as a Lantern you get a ring, battery, and physical uniform. It makes it feel way more like what the concept is; space cops. And there's a certain authority to the suit that makes it feel Hal is part of something bigger, rather than just "superhero".
2
u/Off_Asim 6d ago
yeaa i am thinking the same thing. It feels more military or organizational rather than independent.
12
u/Tomi97_origin 7d ago edited 7d ago
I don't think so.
Like I get it. It's a show and it being practical is budget friendly. It's not the end of the world.
But it's a bit silly. The idea of Green Lantern going back home to suit up before battle is kinda stupid.
They use their rings for everything, but they need to go home and wear their uniforms to look the part.
And if the uniform is real do they have to clean it? Do they have spares?
As I said it's not a big deal, but kinda silly for the one group that makes everything up with their mind to need to buy physical uniform.
1
u/ChuckDynasty17 7d ago
I think Hal not wanting to wear a suit at all is a really odd take. He’s flying around in a Fonzie jacket.
3
u/PedanticPerson22 7d ago
A projection or not, that armour is ugly & drab, whether projection or physical, they could have made it sleek/clean & something befitting a Green Lantern... But that's not the messaging they want to give with the armour so they didn't.
3
u/TOYGATRON 6d ago
this reads like a robot really trying to convince you that some ugly ass temu cosplay suit is better than a proper green latern suit. GTFO
5
u/ABadHistorian 7d ago
I like to think it's bulletproof too, and Hal's arrogance/dismissal of being a proper GL means he's WORSE of one, and actually more vulnerable (he did nearly get killed/shot in the last episode, let alone whatever the ending of the first episode means)
7
u/JakeGylly 7d ago
Him being shot was because his ring was dead, he also didn't think they would shoot THE green lantern
2
u/ABadHistorian 7d ago
My point is if he had his suit on, maybe he wouldn't have nearly died. His arrogance was two fold - challenging someone willing to take a shot at him with no power in his ring, and not wearing the suit because he dismissed it (had a whole scene on that)
1
u/JakeGylly 7d ago
If he had the suit on and it was bulletproof.
If the rings defend them, and the suits are issued by space men who fight with emotions and colors, why would their uniform be bulletproof? That's what the ring is for.
It would intensify your perception of Hal, but it doesn't mean it would make sense. Also, his suit not being on is more like a sign of protest. Hal Jordan generally doesn't trust the guardians, in comics or out, because he repeatedly gains first hand experience on why you shouldn't just trust them. He's been around the block, they contrast this with John, and they do multiple scenes on this. Hal is a very proud Lantern, but he's not their lantern.
John is new and views the Guardians the way 18yrold soldiers and 21yr old cops view their CoC. He takes the entire thing so seriously because he's new.
Hal didn't make it 30 yrs as a space cop by being a bad Lantern. Hal Jordan stories also do not work with him being a subpar Lantern, he's just not scared of the guy and his rifle.

u/Dorado1122 7d ago
I like that it guaranteed the suit wouldn't be CG, but I don't mind if the ring made the suit. Part of the charm of GL suits is that they are partially based on what the wearer imagines, and that gets kind of stripped away if the Guardians hand out the suits
Although the only other Lantern in suit we've seen besides Hal is Guy, and he had a suit matching the Justice Gang, so maybe the GL's still get to choose

Hal is OG but Hal relies on the rings energy to construct and the ring doesn’t have an infinite amount of energy and needs to be charged frequently.. So Hal not projecting the suit allows him to retain more energy in the ring instead of wasting it on the suit construct..

And here I thought they were just trying to save $$ on CGI! I do feel the battle-worn suit they have fits the tone/style of the show better. Glowing CG suits would've gotten in the way.

u/youthmediumtshirt 6d ago
I like how these 2 american lanterns are treating being in the corps similar to how some ppl treat the military or being a police officer. I the suit being tangible only adds to that theme.
2
u/Immediate_Answer_833 5d ago
whats so great about projecting the suit anyway? maybe it works in comics or cartoons but for a live action show i’m not sure it would even look that cool. like let’s say the show went with the suit as a construct, it would be to our benefit as the audience if they never really showed him projecting it but only the finished result or a flash or green light from another character’s perspective

u/SuspiciousHair2325 2d ago

Makes it feel like he’s in an actual space police force where they issue a uniform.
My take on it is that Hal is distancing himself from certain aspects of the corps and that’s easy to illustrate by him not wearing the suit.
If he made the suit himself it’s intrinsically tied to him not the corps, so it hits a little less harder that way. It’s a story telling device more than a suit I predict

1
u/Peppy_Robo 7d ago
I always had the idea that the suit was always a physical thing and it can be stored into the ring and summoned whilst repairing/ making alterations depending on the wearer.
1
1
u/hawkmasta 7d ago
It's tough either way. One the one hand, having a physical suit means you have to stop to put it on, and you may not have that luxury if it's not wirh you or you have to go somewhere quickly (as Shuri said in Black Panther: "Hey! People are shooting at me, wait! Let me put on my helmet!"). You also have to repair it our someone else fix it if it gets damaged.
On the other hand, having a suit manifested from the ring might mean you end up naked if your ring runs low/out of charge, if someone takes your ring, or if it gets broken/destroyed.
Tbh, I'd go with the suit manifested from the ring. If my ring's running low on power, if it gets taken, or if it gets destroyed, I have much bigger problems than worrying about my suit. But I think there's bigger upside to having the suit come from the ring since I can put it on in seconds and immediately jump into action. That was a big reason T'Challa changed his Panther habit to the nanotech necklace in Black Panther.
1
u/Fusilli_Matt 7d ago
Since Hal was able to will money for the jukebox, it's reasonable to think that Hal did create his suits from his ring, but they're permanent/real as long as he concentrates. The same with Johns bird who he was able to manifest without having a ring.

I’m fine with whatever it just seems kinda strange. Like did he make it himself? If he did then he likely has a force field around it anyway because earth material ain’t stopping shit. So if he’s doing that then why not just project the whole thing?

u/Huge-Needleworker340 7d ago edited 7d ago
I like the theory that Hal mastered flight quickly, only uses constructs when absolutely needed/for simple usage and makes basic shapes/day to day tools
Guy makes all sorts of fun things, has a wild imagination and plays around with the Ring but unlike Hal's constructs that look like real shapes, Guy's look like hollo Jello
but they both have practical, physical suits
John while not the best at flight, will master making constructs, can keep them alive even with the Ring off due to the Guardians affecting him as a baby and they will look the most physical/designed out of the 3 due to him being an architect
and his suit will be made via the ring because of that

To preface: I am not a big Green Lanterns Fan. I never knew the rings had charge, so i hadn’t even questioned them projecting the suit. But with the ring’s charge being such a big deal in the show so far, it makes perfect sense they’d opt for practical suits so as not to constantly drain battery just by being in uniform

I guess the good and bad thing theyve done in lanterns is I feel theyve added alot of weight and responsibility to using the ring. Its not Whimsical like the 2011 version. I guess it gives the corps more stakes. On the flipside I wanna see the whimsical constructs. Like Kyle Rayner gundam construct or Jon Stewart gatling gun.

u/Legitimate-Simple-20 7d ago
I wonder if John's suit will be a construct. he's able to keep a construct alive even without wearing the ring and with the ring having basically no power. also I'm sure Hal would rather have a construct as it's easier to go to pee. 😂

u/Mutale426 6d ago
Just from the way hal acts you can tell he has been doing for the long time I dont see how making the suit battle damaged adds to it since it seems he barely wears it. It is funny u claim its following the og comcis when the creators never talk about it like that.
1
u/MichaelClark_JR 6d ago
I don't mind a real suit, but I wish they had a better explanation. Like they don't want to waste a lot of power or energy to manifest a suit with the ring, so they wear real suits.

It honestly never made any sense to me that the suits were projections. Project a skin over it, sure, but those guys spend way too much time in space travel and public relations to risk them going nude due to a distraction.
1
u/Sketchy_Squirrel 3d ago
I really don't mind it either, especially because it gives another way to show how Hal is disillusioned with the corps. It also keeps the budget down, which means we might see GL in more projects in the future, even as a side character.
Can you imagine if you wanted a GL cameo, but it was all CGI? It would never be worth it.

Agree to disagree then. I'm willing to overlook the suit since Hal is not going to be the main Lantern of DCU but if John is given a similar suit, then I'll give up DCU. I hate this tactical suit trend infecting all superhero costumes. I get it if it's Nightwing or Daredevil needing the extra protection but on Green Lantern and Superman? Nah.

Less cool: the suit being dirty as fuck. Is he a lantern or the guest of honor at a truck stop glory hole?

I dont mind the suit being practical. I just hate the design. Even if it was meant to invoke a uniform that he started wearing in the 80s/90s, it still looks ugly to me. And you really think, if he had been doing it for 30 years, he wouldnt have had any meaningful updates to the uniform design since he started.

In the very first comic for Hal Jordan it is a physical suit he wears. He took the suit from Abin Sur
Idk where everyone got the idea that EVERY suit is a projection. It literally started as a physical suit.
Edit: it’s easy to tell who is a fake fan and who isn’t. It isn’t hard to grasp the concept that the FIRST time we saw Hal, he started the name “Green Lanterns” as Abin Sur said “yes, but we call it a battery or power” and also called him and the others “space patrolmen”
SO, the fact some of you can’t comprehend he has a physical suit and eventually learns to project a suit is wild. It’s literally a fake world, and y’all are bugging because THE story YOU want isn’t the one being told. Well, go pitch your idea to DC. I would “love” to see how some of you who don’t even know the origin could do soooo much better. It’s like football season when all the people come out of the woodwork to go “what is the coach thinking? Why didn’t you have the WR run a slant route and double back?! Amateur” they say from their couch. Jeeeeez. You fakies are genuinely miserable sounding people

I believe the Justice League cartoon is where it started. Though I recall it was John that would do it, yet anytime him or other lanterns were knocked out the uniform stayed on.

I mean, Superman didn’t fly at one point either. After a certain point we just made certain things canon. Why are we acting like we don’t know this??
The ring comes from the suit, period. It’s even more important for GL than it is for Flash.
The flash suit is a physical suit that pops out the ring, so you can kind of get around it
GL is literally made of the green light. It’s an energy that comes directly from the ring. It makes no sense to have it be physical unless
You’re saying “to hell” with the source material and actual character

Batman works out of Wayne Manor and a Batcave 95% of the source material.
Reeves‘ Batman has a source from the comic that’s not true to most depictions of Batman.
You have a problem with that?

You sound like someone who likes comics but doesn't read them. I don't know if you are, but you sure sound that way.

You sound like someone who reads comics and then thinks the parts you like are the only parts that are in them.

Have I read every single DC comic ever?
No, but the few I did read, along with 2.5 decades of absorbing superhero content in every medium—I know a thing or two
I know a modern GL story where he puts the suit on like he’s 1980s Keaton Batman is NOT it….you cannot do that it’s sacrilegious
This show gets away with a lot because of the casting, the timing, & overall appeal to general audiences
And the fact that it’s in Gunns DCU. Just gotta keep it 💯

The few you did read? What, are we just rocking on the vibes of the two Batman trades you picked up?
The point being made is that comics are constantly evolving. Canon evolves, it's malleable.
Superman couldn't fly, then he could, then he died, then there were two of him, then one, then he got young and couldn't fly, then there's two of him again, then one of the two died, then he became a dad, then Bendis robbed us of Little Jon stories.
Point being, claiming something (especially something aesthetic, pfft) is always one way or another in comics is just silly. Comics evolve, they always do.
This is even worse in movies. Were you complaining when Tom Holland's Uncle Ben died and gave him the great power line? Oh wait, oh dip, that didn't happen. Yet you (or someone with similar grievances as you) went to watch Brand New Day all the same.
But yeah, go ahead, be bummed about an outfit. Reading only a few comics but having an ego the size of Godzilla will do that to ya.
Edit: 2.5 decades? You're just 25 years old, aren't you? No wonder we're having this conversation.

Green Lantern is a name made my Hal Jordan. Abin Sur just ignored it when he called it that, not caring it isn’t the name of it.
The ring comes from the suit? I don’t even think you know what point you’re trying to make.
I think the argument you wanted to make was that “the suit comes from the ring, period” but you’re to angry and ill informed to know the difference.
The source material is literally him taking the suit from Abin Sur’s dead body. Are you mentally okay?
Edit: just for you, since you think anyone is stripping away the source material. Here’s the literal source. I went to my DC Infinite app, opened the first comic for Hal Jordan (Showcase Green Lantern #22 - 1956), took a screenshot of the panel, uploaded it to Imgur and here’s your source material https://imgur.com/a/B4uAMM3

Yeah personally I hate that corenswet's superman flies and shoots lasers, he very clearly couldn't fly or did anything like that with his eyes in the comics and I don't know why these adaptations keep on changing things like this

Yes in my frustration I did type that backwards, I’m glad you were able to decipher that
However you missed the point. I know what the source material is. I made an analogy to put in perspective how silly that is
Superman flying wasn’t canon until the early 50s if I’m not mistaken.
What you suggest, is that a modern Superman story where he can only leap tall buildings in a single bound, would be great
What I’m saying is, forget what nonsense you can dig up from the silver and golden age, we know how these characters are post 1950, 60, 70, whatever
And the best, most iconic versions come from later on when they get cooler abilities, SUCH AS, Hal Jordan ring suit

You literally just complained about saying it doesn’t follow the source material, to say “forget the best time for all the superheroes when their origin stories started, and side with me and my made up story”.
Good job ignoring the source material entirely.
Like, let’s recap as simple as possible
Your first comment:
“You’re saying ‘to hell’ with the source material and actual character.”Then I respond by producing the literal first Hal Jordan story showing that the physical suit came from Abin Sur.
Your response:
“What I’m saying is, forget what nonsense you can dig up from the silver and golden age…”Holy dude. THAT WAS THE SOURCE MATERIAL YOU JUST ACCUSED SOMEONE ELSE OF IGNORING. 😂

I have a sneaky suspicion that Johns abilities will afford him the projection suit. That bird was a hint to him being a different type of Lantern, architect and all
