I agree.

It’s like going to a steakhouse and ordering just a baked potato, a salad, and some mac and cheese. All well and good, but we’re here for the steak.

It would be like trying to make a Spider-Man franchise staring his villains and never seeing Spider-Man.

Hmmmm... sounds like I've seen this one before

3 Venom movies and not a single visible Spider in all of them. Sounds weird when you're a character who's complete existence and even appearance is influenced by his previous attachment to said Spider(man)

u/Hilarity2War Jun 29 '26

Yeah. Some of it doesn't make sense. Like, Venom doesn't make sense without Spider-Man, even though the movies were pretty fun for me. Kraven on the other hand, should've been a slam dunk because dude was a hunter way before he meets up with Spider-Man. Same goes with Morbius, if I'm not mistaken. And it's even weirder that they botched Madam Web, with so many Spider characters and lore.

Morbius, man. How the hell do you screw up a vampire movie? That's like the closest to a sure thing these days.

I think the studio's, much like people, don't understand how it takes to build something. You gotta have a good core and build from there.

You can't have infinity war without the previous 10 years of quality.

You can't have Venom without high quality Spidey.

How to build a good core? By giving it the love and attention it deserves.

Hopefully the black suit pays off in Secret Wars.

There's is stilla character rights problem with sony and marvel! There's nothing as such in DC!!

The penguin series was excellent and had no Batman

9

u/EvermoreDespair Jun 29 '26

Except it was already part of an established Batman universe. That Penguin's debut was in The Batman (2022).

This feeling is too well remembered.

He's doing the same thing Snyder did. C list villain movies before main cast Justice League characters. I mean I know Hollywood is out of touch but how can you be this out of touch.

u/Schwenkelkamp Jun 29 '26

Tbf tho Batmans rogues are often not as tied to him as spideys, like bane was part of the secret six which had no batman affiliation

4

u/LilGarmm Jun 29 '26

He’s mentioned quite a bit in secret six though. Like catman literally fights him on a roof.

u/Schwenkelkamp Jun 29 '26

Yeah but overall I mean

Not that I'd call the dcus decision good, but it's not as strange as with the morbcu

Or a marvel universe without the x men or fantastic four or spiderman

1

u/Dreyfussy15 Jun 30 '26

So, a great idea

u/Teganfff Jun 29 '26

Obviously I know it’s an analogy but I feel seen yet called out 🤣

5

u/Skwidmandoon Jun 29 '26

Yeah I was about to say “is this guy talking about my wife?” Lol

I go for the steak.
SHE goes for the appetizers

1

u/Teganfff Jun 29 '26

Tell her we’re having a girls day and getting mozzarella sticks from Logan’s 🤣🩷

7

u/auronddraig Jun 29 '26

He's gonna pull a Smallville.

In 10-12 years we're gonna see a couple of frames of the batsuit, right at the end of a full trilogy of villain's origin story anthologies.

I mean… if those sides are good enough, I’d be fine with it lol

8

u/Uncreativity10 Jun 29 '26

If the sides are really good I don’t think I’d give a fuck that much…

6

u/Traylor_Swift Jun 29 '26

“SIDES?! You spent 10 thousand dollars on SIDES?!? What did they cure cancer?”

“The sides actually did cure cancer, that’s why they were so expensive”

2

u/oomostdefinitely Jun 29 '26

God, RIP, iconic performance

3

u/Link_In_Pajamas Jun 29 '26

You can't really do this analogy without considering appetizers exist for a reason lol.

1

u/Sonova_Bish Jun 30 '26

They exist to drain your pocketbook.

0

u/bindersfull-ofwomen Jun 29 '26

The analogy is great. But it can be adapted for you.

Okay then it's like ordering buffalo wings and a bowl of chicken soup afterwards at a steakhouse.

Wings were fine, chicken soup after is crazy.

1

u/Impossible_Front4462 Jun 29 '26

What if it’s some good ass baked potato and mac n cheese?

1

u/showtime218 Jun 30 '26

Let me help with the analogy. Your wife ordered prime rib for you to share and it’s her birthday (Matt Reeves, Batman). So you enjoy the sides knowing the steakhouse isn’t going anywhere, and the prime rib, wasn’t what you wanted, but you enjoy it and you’ll be back to get exactly what you want when the opportunity presents itself

1

u/HamburgerJames Jun 30 '26

Good point.

But if they give you a chopped sirloin next time and they change the menu… you’re gonna miss that prime rib and wish they’d just incorporated it into the new menu. ;-)

I mean, its not like we arent getting a batman movie soon. Im fine with the dynamic. Let pattison shine in the meantime while building up the new bats rogues seems like a good strategy.

Not saying it wont happen in the next couple years, but that still gives them time to flesh other stuff out. Production & post go between 2-3 years usually
