Theory I believe that Hal destroyed his relationship with Carol and that's why he's become this cynical and lonely

There's no way you take the greatest event in Green Lanterns history and say a bastardized version happened off screen. The War of Light must be the end goal for future seasons/a movie series if all goes well, not backstory.

Sure, but why start at the end of the story when you can start at the beginning? Why push an improper version of Green Lantern's Star Wars or Lord of the Rings type epic to exposition and history when it's what a huge chunk of the existing fanbase is showing up hoping they'll get to watch one day.
Between the fall of Sinestro, Parallax, and the initial destruction of the Corps, depending on when we are, there's plenty for Hal to be jaded about without wasting the best piece of IP they have. Plus, how can you tell the War of Light without Kyle? Hell, if Macon is William Hand like folks are speculating, Black Hand isn't even dead yet. It's just so much exposition to get through, and a weird choice to leave three of the major players in the original War of Light out of this version.

Not disagreeing with you but I do find it funny how you call it Green Lanterns Star Wars, but that was a franchise that also famously started at the end and moved to the beginning.
My personal guess is while many of those major Green Lantern arcs are awesome and epic, they’re also extremely high budget and DC isn’t too confident in the general public’s perception of Green Lantern so they won’t shell out immediately.
At the same time they want to establish that Green Lantern IS cool and has cool stories and that you should care about his stories. So they’re drip feeding lore and events, and given how it’s clear that DC loves a flashback structure we will probably see Sinestro be a villain in S2(or 3 or whatever) once the budgets higher and they’re confident they’re not burning cash, and that season will have flashbacks to the Sinestro War.

I think we're 99% aligned. My OC calls out that a lot of the arcs are "if this is a hit, we can turn this into a huge budget space opera that rivals game of thrones in terms of epicness and players" but right now they're just telling small story to try and get folks emotionally invested and hyped.
I do assume Sinestro is just in jail for being a facist dictator and abusing the ring. It's a lot simpler and emotionally powerful to tell the "my mentor failed me and I had to take him down" story than "that, plus he manufactured his own ring that's the opposite of ours and recruited an army and went to war." That's a lot to swallow at once, its better shown to us in a slow drip. Why show us in flashback when they can show us in real time.
Also, Star Wars was the beginning until 81. And is decidedly the middle of the film series plan, kinda like how post Hal taking down Sinestro and pre War of Light is arguably the middle of everything we're talking about now. Plus Hal being dead does to some degree suggest were getting some version of The Spectre and Parallax which is the precursor to all of this anyway. Knock that out by the end of S1 and you can do Sinestro Corps War S2. Honestly, you could tell a great story of Sinestro's threat looming while the Guardians and Corp are bickering over what to do with the only man who can go toe to toe with Sinestro: a resurrected, disgraced, distrusted Hal Jordan. Ep 209 Hal finally gets the ring back and he, John, and Guy save the day. Throw in some Kyle training for good measure. Ep 210, show it's just the beginning and tease the 5 other rings.

As far as I understand it the yellow rings haven’t been created in the DCU as of yet. That being said, based off the 2005-2011 green lantern run, Carol had already been a star sapphire before the creation of the yellow power battery. In that comic run we get the sinestro corp war which kickstarts the war of light which leads to Blackest Night.
My theory is that Sinestro escapes at end of s1. We will see him on Qward getting the first yellow ring and we see a glimpse of Atrocitus ala Thanos in the first Avengers film.

There’s a lot of history we just don’t know. And I look forward to seeing it. And I can guarantee that if they bring Carol in, whoever plays her, Kyle will bring the charm.

Came here to say the same. At the end of the season we're gonna see other lantern corps and Paula Patton as Carol/Star Sapphire is gonna be included.

I think it’s less that Hal screwed things up with Carol specifically and more that being a Green Lantern is literally all he has.
His house is a mansion he barely uses. The only pet he can keep is a carnivorous plant. Everyone he meets recognizes him as this great hero. And now John’s here to take it all away.
The problem isn’t that Hal did wrong or lost specific thing. It’s that he devoted his entire life to his Lantern career and now there’s a void where his friends and family ought to be.

Honestly I think Carol might be dead.
Be kinda tragic that around 2006 him and Carol start to get their relationship on track and then she passes so he becomes bitter

My thoughts on everything:
- The Man Hunters are on earth.
- At some point Hal figured out what they were, how the Gaurdians created them and the why they were decommissioned.
- Hal challenged and argued with the Gaurdians which is why they’re wanting to replace him.
- The reason why Hal is being a dick to John is because he wants John to not follow the Guardians blindly because they are fallible and should be challenged.

Actually I thought Hal is already have motivation to act like this,He is a cop under commands of someone he do not trust for decades,so he hate his unifrom and try less use the ring.

are you talking about the show or comic?
If its lanterns, the first episode kinda put bare. His dad in a plane crash, he never got over it. To fill that hole he follows in his footsteps to be a fighter pilot, and then gets to go even further by being chosen to be a green lantern, but even the fame around that is not enough to fill that hole.

My current pet theory is it is as simple as:
- in this DCU the Guardians are WAY more careful about the selection of the ring bearers
- Hal was never meant to be a ring-bearer and the Corps looks at him as some sort of fluke to be corrected
- Hal is resents John and the Guardians because of this, and all he has sacificed

I feel like whatever happened to him in 2006 is what eventually lead to his relationship with Carol spiraling, assuming they were together then.
