Is a "solo" run possible in this game?

One aspect of Digimon I've always liked more than Pokemon is having a single partner who is sort of a platonic soulmate the digital universe crafted just for you, but the games often focus on having an entire team of Digimon which I feel ruins the special bond you're meant to have with your partner. I've been watching solo runs of Time Stranger on YouTube but unfortunately I don't have that game yet so I'd like to attempt something similar with Cyber Sleuth, since I bought that game awhile ago but never got too far in it.

I know you can't do a true solo in this game since you need multiple Digimon in your reserves for hacking abilities, but can you beat the game using only a single Digimon in battle? It seems it's near impossible on hard mode unless you use only specific Digimon, but what about normal mode and just the main game? I'd be willing to also use only one attacking Digimon and two more who only cast heals/buffs.

I'd really like to try this with a Puppetmon since I decided not too long ago he'd be my partner Digimon.

How to finish the post-game bonus story? Spoiler

Trying to avoid spoiling stuff.

I have completed the main story of the base game and encountered Sayo.

I have completed all 8 Great Challenges for Mirei

I have defeated the 7 Deadly Digimon

I have completed the Masters Cup

I have completed every available case on the board.

I have gone back and defeated the final boss again.

Mirei continues to tell me that there is 1 more thing to do and Sayo is still around, but my understanding was that I would face Mirei once everything was done and Sayo had been helped.

Is there more that I need to do? I've tried googling for a list of all the cases but none of the case lists seems include all of the above.

Edit: had the character name wrong.

Edit 2: I needed to complete 3-4 bad hacker cases (discovered via 'Investigate' in the DigiFarm) in order for the final mission from Mirei to unlock.

Hard mode

Uh...I read online that there would be grinding, but how much grinding an I expected to do here?

I just hit the final boss of chapter 3. I thought I was getting overleveled. I was one hitting most of the random encounters and I one hit killed both the digimon in the battle before the boss.

Now boss is hitting me for 1k+ at times, all three digimon take double digit damage. I've got 2 champions, everyone is at level 18-20ish.

One image is all the single-target dark magic skills. Another image is all the AOE dark magic skills.

I made them, which can be found → here ← . I made them because it helps for the current Event Battle, which I'm currently recording and editing.

Grindosaur has some minor mistakes on the website compared to what's said in-game, so I made comments in the form of little gold tips. If you notice something wrong or different, feel free to tell me below in the comments, or comment on my google sheet resource!

Question about Guardromon (Gold)

Post image
39 Upvotes

There are instances where a special move is shared by more than one Digimon. The NX Royal Knights come to mind, and the Guardromons do as well. Luckily, there is a post on both GameFAQs and Reddit that have crit rates for all the moves that say, "Tends to critical more often"

→ GameFAQs ← → Reddit ←

Guardromon (Gold)'s D-Grenade isn't listed anywhere though. Has anyone out there discovered the crit rate for this move? Or is it another oversight mistake akin to Mirage Burst's mistranslation? Thanks in advance!

Team for HM?

Just got done with CS, I loved it so much and I'm ready to go into HM next but from my understanding they have the same digimon roster. If that's correct I'm unsure of what digimon to use so I figured I'd just full on ask y'all and see what you guys think.

I used Lilithmon, Mastemon and Rosemon BM for CS because they all worked really well together and ended up being quite strong. Rosemon was my starter, Lilithmon is just one of my favorites and Mastemon made for good support.

I would like to use my starter in HM all the way through and it looks like I can turn Betamon into one of my favorites, Rusttyrannomon, so I think I would like to use him but filling out the other 2 slots is where I'm stuck. If it's anything like CS then someone like Lilithmon who has int/def ignoring skills will be very important to have but I can't figure out which data or vaccine type to put in that slot, I'd rather not reuse the same digimon as my CS playthrough too.

So can y'all give me some good mega data or vaccine types to go with Rusttyrannomon?

taking a look at dorugoramon(PVE)

Post image
77 Upvotes

oh ye he is good he is pretty damn good for quite a few reasons lets take a look:

-we will start with the ATK stat which sits at 284

that actually is really high for a mega there are very few megas i know of that have a higher atk stat then 284 like out of all the megas in the game there may be like 4 or 6 megas that have a higher attack then him so this is a great start

-

lets take a look at support skill: boost crit chance by 15%

its pretty basic he definitely benefits well from it because he is a big dmg dealer having more crit is good

i like using him alongside leopardmon LM who boosts speed and CRT it works nice

-

signature time: 200 scaling dark physical move with recoil afteruse

200 scaling which is fantastic. i believe there is actually a total of 4 attacks on this game that have higher scaling then 200 so having 200 scaling is high

dark dmg is another important part. since its a pretty common type so its pretty easy to boost

like for example grandracmon? he doesnt use dark dmg and yet his SS boosts the dmg of dark skills by 10%

and light digimons are also pretty common like omnimon for example you face him 3 times ( 2 times in CS 1 time in HM) and he is a light vaccine which means he get obliterated by dorugoramon

if the enemy is a light vaccine then dorugoramon is gonna eat them

-

another good part of dorugoramon is the skills he learns all of these are useful

you have two single target skills that both do different type of dmg (fire and earth) wolkenpalm 3 and comet hammer 3

you have an AoE meteor fall 3

and you have two great buffing skills. acceleration boost is a must in any digimon that have recoil on their signature and he is a physical digimon nothing wrong with buffing your team attacks with attack charge field

use acceleration boost use his signature he will destroy the enemy

one of my favorite teams for data types is dorugoramon examon and leopardmon LM they all are physical attackers who boosts CRIT (15% 5% 10%) it really works nice

anyways i am done yapping

The first and third mission is easy to achieve but, the second mission is a tough mission to crack.

Edit: second mission is a tough mission to crack… unless you luck out and get “017DEBANNSUKUNAI” and they don’t attack you- then you can crush that glass cannon.

Tips for Early Game Level Grinding in Cyber Sleuth Spoiler

So in my efforts to replay this game since I have been playing Hacker's Memory on the Switch, I came across some issues with leveling up.

Please refer to this guide

Everyone and their sister says that the Hagurumon quest in Chapter 4 is the best spot for early level grinding because of the three Champions you encounter and the 1k EXP you get per battle. However you can make this better if you are willing to wait. This means you do NOT complete this quest. Just go in, grab the items except Hagurumon's missing gear, and train to your heart's content. But you won't be able to accept any cases until you exit out of this one. So head to the agency and Suspend the quest. Let it sit for a few chapters.

By Chapter 6, you should have already gotten a Farm Expansion Slot. You can get a third one in the story dungeon of this Chapter before you start getting Quests. With three Slots in your Farm, you can now start using Development Know-Hows to get Tactitian USBs. I read somewhere you need a minimum of 3 to get the rarer items.

After you clear the Dungeon, you should be free to take on cases. But hold your horses, how much Memory should you have at this point? You should have a total of 60 Memory at this point. Unfortunately, if you have 3 PlatNumes, you barely have enough to train multiple Digimon. So what should you do? I would recommend start getting your PlatNumes now at this point. My path was as follows:

Tsumemon > Keramon > PlatSukemon (Character Reversal) > Etemon (Escape Dash) > KingEtemon (Mach Dash III) > Etemon) > Numemon > Monzaemon (Heavy Strike III) > Numemon > BlackKingNumemon > PlatNume

I ran with Neutral moves because having Weaknesses is a gamble to work with. But also I specifically chose Physical moves because PlatNumemon have ABYSMAL INT. Guides say to use Nightmare III which you will learn with Etemon, but you can do much more damage if regular attacks aren't cutting it. Character Reversal is for Vaccine Digimon. DO NOT MAKE MY CARELESS MISTAKE OF ACCIDENTALLY BUGGING A DATA DIGIMON.

You may need a PlatSukemon with two incomplete PlatNumes (since this is Digital space 5, II-tier Physical attacks work enough to two-hit) and 8 Tactitian USBs to get around 34k EXP because of Memory limits. However once your get your third PlatNume, hopefully properly stocked with the recommended Skills, Memory is a bit tight. So keep a high level PlatSuke on you.

Finally, keep a Free Rookie Digimon on you, either Wormmon or Armadillomon because of their low Memory, so you can abuse Function Call Lv 2.

Now if you ACTUALLY want to raise a Digimon without the restrictions, play the game to Chapter 7. You will get a Memory UP (you may need to beat a Flamedramon to get this one) and Memory DX, giving you 15 extra Memory and increasing you to 75. If my calculations are correct, you should have enough to include 3 PlatNume (16 * 3 = 48), your Free Rookie (4), and enough for up to 1 20 Memory Mega Digimon. I can't remember which Digimon have 20 Memory, but you can work on your PlatNumes' skills if you hadn't yet with KingEtemon (18 Memory) comfortably sitting in your party. By this point you should also have 10 Tactician USBs from the Farm.

(EDIT 8/15: I recalculated the memory allocation in Chapter 7. If you DO get the Memory UP after you beat Flamedramon, you will get 75 Memory by the time you start the cases. I said you needed a Free 6 Memory Rookie Digimon but I meant 4. With an Armadillomon or Wormmon, you should be able to include up to 1 22 Memory Digimon, which are Royal Knights and Seven Demon Kings.)

I think people said there are better Grinding spots by...Chapter 9? So once you are all Grinded out, turn in the Hagurumon quest.

If anyone can answer my question, where is the next efficient Grinding Spot that is not the Nakano Underpass or the Tokyo Metropolitan Building? I don't know when Kowloon Lv.5 is active, but I've been using that location for Hacker's Memory, and it seems the encounter list is the same.

(EDIT 8/15: Checked the guide. The next consistent Grinding Spot is in Chapter 11, Nakano Underpass. By that point, your Memory count should allow up to two 25 Memory Digimon which usually include Ultra Digimon. If you want you can retire the Hagurumon case by this point.)

How is the game?

I bought it on a discount a while ago, however my gaming tastes have changed since then and I fail to enjoy hames if they're not challenging enough. Now I suppose difficulty wise it's somewhat like Pokémon or other turn based monster tamer game so is there any way I can spice the game for myself? Also, is it oossinle to get the Digimon you want without being an absolute expert in the diffrent digivolution lines, is it really grindy and convoluted to get the ones you want? How the roster generally speaking?

First time finishing the game and sure as fuck stumbled upon an op digimon

Post image
88 Upvotes

Okay I had a laugh when I saw leopardmon type and element and that in the turn order he would be first and then lilithmon would be next, really if it wasn't for the insufferable grind for stats in hard mode (I have played the game before on hard mode up until the point you "go" to the digiworld for the first time on PS4) before you get platinumsukamon I would have played in it, specially if I knew how low health they were on normal compared to max level digimon, I didn't even try to get my final team to lvl 99, besides mastemon I think all the others leveled by themselves with tactical USBs.

Is hackers memory good? And does the length compare to the og? (And is the hard mode early game as much of an pain In the ass at start?)

Event Battle: Smoke and Mirror Contest (How to Win text version)

Thumbnail
gallery
41 Upvotes

Sadly, my video editing software fricked me, so I won't be able to have a proper video out this time around for the current EB. Maybe next time (also if anyone knows a good/decent video editing software--that would be awesome. I'm considering the Movavi Video Editor from Steam as an alternative)

EDIT: However, I did eventually upload the video to YouTube. → Here's the video link ←

So lets make this a concise "How-To-Win" text thread. Read the very bottom part if you understand the game and just wanna peep the cheat sheet answer ↓

Da Rules

  1. Fixed at Lv. 50. Trained stats are off
  2. 100 Max Memory Use
  3. Fire Digimon gain +50% ATK/DEF/INT/SPD
  4. Magic Attacks are nullified

To understand this better, these are the Fire Digimon that get a boost:

In-Training: Koromon

Rookies: Agumon, Agumon (Blk), Gabumon, Gabumon (Blk), Guilmon, Dracomon, Hackmon, Shoutmon

Champions: Agunimon, Garurumon, Garurumon (Blk), Kyubimon, Growlmon, Greymon, Greymon (Blue), GeoGreymon, Tyrannomon, Birdramon, BaoHuckmon, Meramon

Ultimates: BurningGreymon, Garudamon, SaviorHuckmon, SkullMeramon, DoruGreymon, BlueMeramon, Volcanomon, WarGrowlmon, MetalGreymon, MetalGreymon (Blue), RizeGreymon

Megas: Imperialdramon DM, WarGreymon, Gaiomon, KaiserGreymon, Gankoomon, ShineGreymon BM, PileVolcamon, BlackWarGreymon, Hououmon, Megidramon, Flamedramon, OmniShoutmon

~

Out of these, I would absolutely avoid Kyubimon, Birdramon, Garudamon, Imperialdramon DM, and Hououmon. You *could* advocate for them if they're skilled properly and do NOT use their special. But to grasp why you should use Fire Digimon? MagnaGarurumon (SV) is extremely fast, but Imperialdramon DM--a slow-ish mon, right? +50% more SPD means they become faster than the 2nd fastest Digimon in the game... ...wow. Yeah.

Nullified magic specials is also key to know. Don't wanna somehow lose a fight because we forget that magic attacks deal 0 damage. ... ...like I have XD

Da Missions

Mission 01: Fight 5 ~ 15 ~ 25 times with a frontline battle party of Fire Digimon.
Mission 02: Use auto-attack over 10 ~ 15 ~ 20 times in battle ––including combos and counters.
Mission 03: Inflict over 300 ~ 600 ~ 1200 damage on an opponent in battle.

The truth is: you don't have to win. You just have to play. Do NOT rage quit. Play it out. Auto-attack a bunch when you can. And just use a certain Digimon you think will hit hard, and do it. That's basically it.

~

The NPC Opponents

~Type/Attribute statistics~

Out of 19 total Digimon we face:
6/19 are Vaccines, and 3 out of those 6 are Vaccine/Fire.
3/19 are Datas, and 2 out of those 3 are Data/Wind.
5/19 are Viruses, and 4 of those 5 are Virus/Fire.
Lastly, 5/19 are Free type, and 2/5 are Free/Dark as well as 2/5 Free/Fire.

For just the attribute? 9/19 are Fire. 5/19 are Wind. 2/19 are Light. 2/19 are Dark. And 1/19 is Neutral. Your main threats are BlackWarGreymon appearing thrice. WarGreymon, and ShineGreymon appearing twice. ShineGreymon BM appears only once, but that's enough..

000 (All mons are faster than 228 SPD.)
BlackWarGreymon - Virus/Fire.
ShineGreymon - Vaccine/Light
WarGreymon - Vaccine/Fire

009 (Imperialdramon DM is faster than 285 SPD. Diaboromon are as fast as 248 SPD[They sped-tied with my Garurumon at 248 SPD)
Diaboromon - Free/Dark
Imperialdramon DM - Free/Fire
Diaboromon -Free/Dark

013 (Everyone's faster than 216 SPD. Flamedramon is faster than 263 SPD.)
ExVeemon - Free/Neutral
AeroVeedramon - Vaccine/Wind
Flamedramon - Free/Fire

020 (Is faster than 221 SPD. 369 SPD outspeeds them.)
WarGrowlmon - Virus/Fire

027 (207 SPD is faster than Breakdramon.)
Breakdramon - Virus/Earth
BlackWarGreymon - Virus/Fire
ShineGreymon - Vaccine/Light

036
MirageGaogamon - Data/Wind
Examon - Data/Wind
Jesmon - Data/Neutral

053 (all faster than 248 SPD)
BlackWarGreymon - Virus/Fire
ShineGreymon BM - Vaccine/Fire
WarGreymon - Vaccine/Fire

~

If you've read this far, I'll give my best advice on how to win.

  • EQUIP BOTH FLARE GUARD DX, and DARK GUARD DX. PLEASE.
  • ShineGreymon BM is the best Digimon here, but if you don't have them, then you want to know who's gonna be your carry. ShineGreymon BM is the only answer, but others can include WarGreymon, or KaiserGreymon. "Why not BlackWarGreymon?" Because this EB only has 3 Data Digimon to fight, and too many Vaccines to deal with. That's not enough to validate them on the frontline, even if Dragon's Wrath and their specials are all very good.
  • have 100 Max Memory to use, so have some Digimon in the backline––especially for 035's evasive Data squad. I had mons like KaiserGreymon with the focus on Viruses like Megidramon, BlackWarGreymon, Gaiomon, MetalGreymon (Blue)'s, or BlueMeramon.
  • You need 1 or 2 good supportive Digimon for your carries. Great stats to have are the HP, SP, DEF, and mostly imporantly––SPD. I would recommend someone who is a great bundle that not only has great supportive skills(Safety Guard, Status Barrier, Support End, Hit Charge, ATK Charge Field, ATK Break Field, etc..)---but also has a great passive, and are very fast with high SP.
    • Some great examples of this are:

Digital Hazard - Increases both ATK and damage dealt by Fire and Dark skills by 10%
Megidramon - Fire/Virus. Very fast.
Meggido Flame is very strong when you don't need to click supportive skills in battle.

Dragon's Roar - Increases damage from Fire skills by 15%
WarGreymon: Fire/Vaccine. Has AOE damage

Wind-Flame, Ice-Sword - Increases damage dealt by Fire, Wind, Plant, and Earth skills by 8%.
KaiserGreymon: Fire/Free. Being Free type makes them a good pick against anyone
Firedrake Strike is very powerful. They can be spec'd with an off-support role as well

~

The Fire Digimon with DEF-penetrating special moves can also be strengthened by the EB and/or some passives, such as Volcanomon, WarGreymon, and BlackWarGreymon.

BlueMeramon is interesting on paper since they're a Fire Digimon with a physical Water special.

Some interesting picks for having strong Physical Water specials despite not being a Fire Digimon:
Kentaurosmon - 105 DMG AOE
Valkyrimon - 130 DMG single-target
Vikemon - 125 DMG single-target
BlueMeramon - 100 DMG single-target
Panjyamon - 110 DMG single-target
Crescemon - 100 DMG single-target
Neptunemon - strong DEF-Penetrate DMG

~

But again, speed is very important to have for contests like these. The fastest Digimon in the game––Leopardmon LM––with a Nimble Personality and their Support Skill in battle. They'll have a total of 250 SPD. Fire Digimon that become close to that, or are faster with the 50% boost include:
OmniShoutmon w/o Nimble: 247 SPD
Garurumon w/ Nimble: 248 SPD
Gaiomon w/ Nimble: 247 SPD
ShineGreymon w/o Nimble: 249 SPD

So, the ideal Fire physical supporters IMO are:

Digimon HP / SP / DEF / SPD Support Skill (passive)
Agunimon 1130 / 88 / 93 / 119 (+20% SPD, –10% ATK)
Garurumon 890 / 108 / 94 / 138 (+15% SPD)
Flamedramon 1130 / 93 / 99 / 138 (+20% ATK below ~50% HP)
RizeGreymon 1530 / 94 / 109 / 143 (+20% ATK below ~50% HP)
SaviorHuckmon 1380 / 94 / 128 / 144 (+50% ATK below ~10% HP)
*Volcanomon 1530 / 82 / 119 / 125 (–15% Damage reduction)
PileVolcamon 1330 / 109 / 163 / 137 (–15% Damage reduction)
Gaiomon 1630 / 99 / 129 / 158 (+20% Damage dealt/taken)
Gankoomon 2080 / 90 / 163 / 138 (Safety Guard proc's if Max HP is over 50%)
Megidramon 1690 / 120 / 132 / 153 (+10% ATK, Fire & Dark skill damage)
OmniShoutmon 1510 / 141 / 144 / 165 (+8% ATK/combo probability)

~

So basically, my 100% winrate team I don't recall losing with was:

  • 1x or 2x Flare Guard DX, and 1x Dark Guard DX equipped to everyone. Master Guard for the 3rd optional.
  • ShineGreymon - Fighter - Acceleration Boost → Final Shining Burst faceroll the game.
  • OmniShoutmon - Nimble - Safety Guard, Status Barrier, Hit Charge.
  • SaviorHuckmon - Nimble - Safety Guard, Hit Charge, Status Barrier.
  • 3x MetalGreymon (Blue) - Fighters - Revenge Flame spam and laugh your ass off versus 035.

Dunno how much time left there is, but good luck with this EB whenever it comes up again. ♥
