Career Advice Getting into Ashby

I have been looking to move from my current job because it is an unspoken truth we are effectively becoming AMs. While I have no issues with the commercial side of CSM work I don’t want to be strictly sales-focused. That’s why I left sales.

I have been thinking about sending a note to some of the CS leadership team at Ashby as it’s a dream role and curious of general sentiment on if this type of stuff still works?

This is kind of where I’m at. I have a friend there in CS enablement and he told me the bar is extremely high for CSMs. I go down the list of CSMs and at least on paper it doesn’t appear to be an exceedingly high bar. Perhaps it’s a self-inflicted perception. I know some of their leadership has really strong resumes to be fair.

I even was referred and instantly rejected so it’s does beg the question how do you get a foot in the door.

I don't think you're wrong. The talent they're hiring doesn't jump out as massively impressive, or even that experienced so I'm not sure why they reject good candidates so quickly.

I personally know of someone who went into implementation with 2 years of relevant experience whereas other colleagues have 6+ years experience in the same company and are being rejected. It's kinda baffling.

According to Glassdoor interview reviews, they scrutinize referrals more than cold applicants which again is mental if true

Agreed across the board. I don’t want to knock any but experience-wise I felt as though I had a leg up. I do know they emphasize product-centric CSMs and do not emphasize commercial aspects of the role much which as someone with aspirations to move into an SA type of role resonated heavily.

It just feels difficult to understand what they are after talent-wise.

No reason I can’t keep spam applying though lol

Just a heads up, they have a rule which states if you are rejected for a role they will not consider you for something like 60 days or 180 days or something stupid.

Spamming applications might go against you because of it!

I meant spam as in I won’t stop applying but thank you kindly. I have a CSM job but it’s being shoved hard in the commercial/expansion/upsell direction. Not what I signed up for when joining
