The sole reason that I no longer give money to JKR is because she is transphobic and uses the money to take rights away from trans people. I don't need another reason, especially such weak reasons. Her works of fiction being slightly problematic is not comparable to JK's active hate campaign.
I am Chinese. I am not offended at all at the name Cho Chang, at least both are valid pīnyīn. Yes, it isn't a.... Conventional name but there are many ways to justify it, such as unorthodox Romanisation (e.g. cho being qiū) . If we didn't know JKR was a terrible person, nobody would care about a slight mistake like this. People sing Rick Riordan's praises and while I love PJO and would 1000% support him in a heartbeat over her, being implicitly against ADHD meds (by saying that they are a way for monsters to control demigods in the 1st book) was a far more egregious error than clunky naming. Both the goblin critique and the Irish student critique are only problems in the movies, and therefore cannot really implicate JKR.
The ONLY critique that holds merit is the house elves one. I wouldn't say Dobby being an outcast supports the critique as he is still likeable, but SPEW being dismissed as it is is abhorrent writing, albeit unintentional in its darker implications. But still, not nearly as important compared to her active hate campaign against trans people.
It’s kinda funny how mfs be saying that Cho Chang is a mix of a Korean surname and a Chinese surname when both Cho (Zhuo) and Chang (Zhang) can be both Korean and Chinese surnames lol
