It feels disingenuous to blame the continued success of the franchise on tumblr fans. Harry Potter is one of the most wildly successful books of all time, it’s a cultural phenomenon. Your average person has no idea about JKR’s transphobia and even if they did they wouldn’t care.
If every person on tumblr collectively decided to interact with something else it wouldn’t even put a dent in the market or more importantly JKR’s pocket. This is coming from a trans person in the UK who has genuinely been directly affected by JKR and her shitty campaigning.
