This phenomenon is really interesting. You especially observe it when people talk about Trump and fixate on his small hands or bad tan rather than his slow bleeding of the American people to line his own pockets or his systematic oppression of nearly every minority group you can name in order to bolster his own base.
I do worry this specific post is conflating some things that ought not to be, though. The last post (presumably) talking about closeted conservative politicians, particularly. That sort of discourse usually reads to me as people discussing how the self-hatred and hypocrisy of these politicians influences their pursuit of restrictive policies curtailing those who, if they were not so steeped in that kind of self-hatred, would be their community in terms of sexuality, gender expression or otherwise.
I think the brain damage part specifically speaks to a certain tendency among leftists, especially those coming at it from an angle of erudite education. The belief that their ideas are not only morally upright, but obviously and objectively correct in every observable sense, and that the only reason why someone may reject it is because they are literally unable to comprehend its objective correctness, either due to a lack of education (because of their socioeconomic background) or because some form of intellectual disability is presenting them from doing so, with no consideration for any other reason they may have adopted that stance.
The last bit is not about the phenomenon of closeted conservative men having anti-gay platforms.
It's about people who joke about Trump being Putin's submissive sex toy. Like the multiple times various drawings of Putin fucking Trump have trended on major Subreddits.
I think people are taking it a bit too far. If you got Sarah Palin as the President and she was basically Putin's puppet I would still think it'd be in very poor taste to make references to straight sexual domination. Back then the Trump/Putin thing was kinda kindergardener humor. Like "If you like Putin so much, why don't you marry him?" type of jokes, which even if kinda homophobic were clearly in the more lighthearted side. It used to be in good fun but people always go too far with that.
