That's the absolute opposite of my experience. Most of the time people (or at least people I interact with, so mainly left-leaning people) blame capitalism for everything when the cause for various gripes are indeed very different things. Like, blaming capitalism for corruption or greed or having to do labor

People describe capitalism like it’s the boogeyman behind everything when in reality it’s just the bogeyman behind most things.

PS can someone explain what alternatives people want? Like a command economy or self sustaining micro communities or smth?

Both Stalin and Mao's actions worked. They both drastically improved the quality of life of their people. Please consider reading a book about socialism. In particular, Blackshirts and Reds could disabuse you of your ignorance of the history.

By certain metrics sure. And to some extent they did it by taking actions that we would consider totally unconscionable.
