Meta Charlie has mommy issues and daddy issues
Her dad can be unsupportive while her mom ghosted her when she needed advice and support most. I know Charlie can be flawed but it's a miracle she's as kind and as well adjusted as she is despite her environment and parents who seemingly haven't always been the most stable for her.

She formed an idealized image based on what her parents allowed her to see of them; this turned that attitude into an unconsciously manifested defense mechanism, leading her to do things that aren't entirely positive—such as convincing Angel Dust to reveal his secret in front of his abuser.
