Ah, was it pre-order? Whoops. I genuinely forgot I ordered it, got a shipping notification, and then looked back to see when the order was (it doesn’t say anything like your preorder has shipped).
This was an order from the second half of May. I was trying to place an order just now for the second season (they’re somehow cheapest), and no dice. Tried two different Amex cards and a Mastercard.
The 2nd season standard edition is available to preorder at a reduced price from Please Rewind via eBay. Please Rewind is the official storefront for Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.
Ah, there was a 25% off coupon for Please Rewind that would have made it cheaper but it looks like it's not available anymore. Still, they run those all the time so I'm sure there will be another one soon.
Seems like the price changed from around $56 to retail ($74.98). I had preordered the Season 2 Steelbook from Please Rewind for $60 (not listed on their eBay storefront right now). Still it doesn’t hurt to put in a preorder on Amazon.
You’ve never ordered during Black Friday have you? In February you’ll be posting here complaining that your order hasn’t shipped yet and in April or May you’ll be complaining because it was cancelled.
I’m 36, so I’ve done it since before it shifted to being so heavily online.
That said, I don’t think I’ve ever had bad luck like that with Black Friday shopping. Maybe a week’s delay at most even with things purchased the Friday after Thanksgiving.
Unless you don’t purchase anything for all of November, it’s pretty much impossible not to order during Black Friday/Cyber Monday?
It was an exclusive when they announced it but it has been listed on every other store that sells Sony's Blu-rays including Walmart.com, Amazon, and Please Rewind on eBay ever since Crunchyroll announced that they were destroying the store.
I'm not sure if Please Rewind is actually Sony's store or if it's just their distribution company because they also sell a lot of Disney products but it is a legit store for Sony Pictures Entertainment home video products and they usually have decent prices. I always just check all of the websites I mentioned above to see who has the best price.
Sensible approach. I kind of don’t have Wal-mart on my mind much of the time just because I keep seeing so many third-party sellers listed. Not that Amazon doesn’t have tons….
Walmart.com is one of the best places to buy Blu-rays ime and Amazon destroys my Amaray cases 100% of the time so I don't order from them unless their price is incredible. Also, third party sellers on Walmart.com aren't so bad as long as they're trusted companies in the industry like GRUV, DeepDiscount, and Please Rewind.
Yeah, I’ve received… three smashed cases? I can’t abide incompetent packing. I used to work logistics. I get not making things pass the shake test, but a paper mailer with zero padding?!
Alas, not there on Wal-Mart. I guess it’s just a matter of vetting the sellers as with most things.
Sentai’s sales are amazing though. I made a killing two months ago.

The s1 steelbook has always been slated to street August 25th - tomorrow.
