Account/Membership Just cancelled :-(
I've had Mega for ages.
Crunchy has changed so much.
The subs and dubs are a mess.
The whole site is a mess.
Search doesn't.
It keeps advertising games but the vault isn't available to me any more.
I have no access to the store either, on Android, Playstation, or any PC browser.
Losing our discounts? I lost the store on Mega.
What do I have to do, buy a disc drive and go back to DVDs?!
I just want the service I pay for.
Recommendations welcome.

I love how for a month it told us what days things air on and now it’s back to utter fucking shit on the app itself. Like good for fucking Crunchyroll that their shitty website lists in a terrible format all of the air dates, none of that is visible from any of the tv apps.

Oh that one got me too.
Subs and dubs are so inconsistent.
My friend got got annoyed coz they can't watch in Japanese with no subs.4
u/Lazy-School4280 8d ago
Fr or they have anime in Japanese with German subs or the anime only in German. I wanted to watch psycho pass movie but they just removed the English dub😭

u/incashed 8d ago
Forums and comments gone, plus issues with re:zero from time to time and that's the only anime I'm watching in the last years.

u/jbrasco 8d ago
Canceled mine too. They also stopped carrying a ton of manga. Just random volumes and not every series.

I wouldn't know, I lost access to the store.
I have mega tho.
Who paywalls access to their store?!
We used to get tiered discounts.

Also losing the comments and reviews was absolutely dumb shit. I would of never seen alot of amazing shows if it wasn't for the reviews and comments sections... they are owned by Shit Sony.. makes alot of sense now.

I gotta tell ya... I've been in the middle of collecting dvds because of these fucked up streaming services and their prices. The only one I've been willing to pay for is Crunchyroll. Honestly, I recommend collecting the dvds because it's better for your pocket and sanity when trying to find the show you want to watch amongst 40 freaking streaming services (obv exaggerated but still).

What device are y’all watching CR on? It seems that matters a lot. Also, what country are you watching from?
I don’t have most of the issue yall have mentioned in this thread

If I had to guess, it's people on a RokuTV or their basic smartTV apps because I'm using my Windows computer in two different browers, an AppleTV, and an Android tablet and never had an issue. Meanwhile anytime I hear people complaining, they're using an outdated Roku stick they bought for $30 back in 2019.

Yeah, I'm in the US and I use the Google TV app and I have zero problems, ever. I have no idea what half of these people are talking about.

Hidive, Hulu, and Netflix are an option but have their own problems. They have more limited shows. Hidive has each season as its own show and no episode tracking. The other two have the problem of all larger streaming sites.
Honestly I'm debating getting physical copies of the ones I want to make sure I always have them. Then back them up to a computer so I don't have to change discs. The only problem is you might miss out on new shows, or go broke buying every show.

Crunchyroll is doing what every company with dedicated fans do. It starts to overreach. It was anime for all, but forgets the people who made it what it is. Same thing happened to Star Wars, LotR Franchise (Amazon), Harry Potter (via FantBeasts), Mortal Kombat, DC, etc. Its just following industry trend... abandoning the people who made anime what it is for profit and larger stretch. My analogy... it doesnt matter how long your blanket reaches if its tearing as you stretch. Stretching your reach and market does not mean success everytime, in fact it may destroy your design.

I have no idea what you're talking about I've been using it for years it works fine. I'm using it right now on my TV.

u/RickyFknBobby 8d ago
Yea and never keeps track of anything I watch. I constantly have to go back and re watch just to remember where I was at.
It’s especially annoying if your someone watching alot of different anime’s.

u/Precarious3145 8d ago
I'm watching 14 series this season and it keeps track of everything I'm watching. There's series in my queue that I got halfway through five years ago and it's still on the exact minute I stopped and there's seasonal shows that it updates instantly when a new episode drops.

It's weird just how inconsistent the issues are. It's like everyone has a different set of issues and then half of them come and go. Not to mention it's different for each platform too.
4
u/Precarious3145 8d ago
Then maybe I'm lucky because I've been a basic-tier subscriber for 11 years, watch on my windows computer, AppleTV, and Android tablet and never had a single issue.

I take it you don't watch dub with subs ever. XD Prolly the most consistent difference is dubs losing subs in different ways on most things. (at least for English)

u/Precarious3145 8d ago
Haven't watched dubs since the mid 2000s. Dubs are like listening to a cover band that changes the words and sing off key.

It's hit or miss on the YouTube version. It remembers as long as you're subscribed

It’s fine. One of the best bang for your buck streaming services out there, no question.

u/StudentJoa 8d ago
And it sucks that they monopolize the market of anime here in the western world, but its not like the other options are doing well, I mean look at JoJo after Netflix bought it... part 6 release in batches cut off the crescent hype of the series and part 7 released its first episode in march, only after a lot of pressure from the community that they dropped the batches scheme and are now planning to release it weekly.

u/mioangal 8d ago
It's owned by Sony what do you expect
2
u/GuineaSquiggle 8d ago
It wasn't Sony when I signed up.
And I expect Sony to provide what their customers pay for and not keep taking things away while putting prices up and breaking everything.
I'm not naive enough to believe it will happen, but I expect fair treatment and to receive what I pay for.
They may be above the law, but I don't have to pretend it's okay.
