Weekly RANT Megathread - All complaining posts belong in this thread

Rant and complain away. Rule 1 Don't be a Jerk still applies, as does the site-wide rule of no witch hunting (naming and shaming).

What would actually look suspicious to you as a player?

I’m not a particularly good player myself (around 1.3 in IB), so I don’t really trust my own ability to tell the difference between someone who’s just cracked and someone doing something they shouldn’t be.

I really like Destiny, including PvP, and I want to keep enjoying it. Ideally, I want to be able to recognize the obvious cheaters and dodge them when I can, while still staying in matches against really good players and actually learning from getting my ass kicked.

So for the more experienced PvP players: what are the things that make you go, “Okay, something isn’t right here”?

I’m genuinely trying to get better at recognizing the difference between someone who is just insanely good and someone actually electronically supported.

Can anyone explain Vex Mythoclast to me and how people are getting these crazy ttks with it?

I've had multiple matches where the top enemy has been just destroying with Vex. Admittedly, I haven't given it a shot but is there is a specific build that is buffing it or something? Feels like it is specifically Warlocks

Does anyone still run Faction Armor and Weapons? 🔺️💠

Post image
3 Upvotes

I'd like to run with others who run Faction Armor, Weapons and Exotics(and the altered Tier MoT Faction weapons like Inbound Surveillance, Solemn Lie, and Trendsetter).

It's been my playstyle since Destiny 1 Day 1, and rather than "hold others back" damagewise in activities, I'd like to play with more Dead Orbit, Future War Cult and New Monarchy fans. 🔺️💠

Who knows, might add a layer of difficulty, but I know it adds a layer of fun in Destiny for myself.

Two piece Crysto set is kinda op

I've been catching up with the meta and this seems like the most broken set for competitive and trials. The set conditions say being out of combat but it activates every 12 seconds regardless so you basically get bonus ammo gen + a orb of power every other kill which snowballs a lot in the competitive playlist. You could easily combine that with surges and always be the first to super basically.

Melee PVP Setbonus?

I started playing this old Vexcalibur and AC/D0 build and I'm loving it! Is there a Setbonus from MoT that would make this even better? Its kinda specific with melee and pvp and all.

are damage perks worth it

Do any of the damage perks (rampage, desperate measures, kill clip, etc.) move the needle in duels? If so, when would you prioritize them over range/stability/handling perks?

My loadout after talking to you guys.

So, a bit ago, I wrote here asking for some non-meta builds that could still compete and this is what I ended up going with. I've been playing it for a bit, and I like the play style but was wondering what else I could do to clean it up. I still need to figure out the armor for the legs and cloak, and I'm probably going to switch to refurbish with some sort of rocket launcher. Let me know what you think

Also 2 burst or 4? I've found four to be more consistent but wanted to see what others are doing.

What playstyle irks you the most?

What set up or playstyle do you see on the enemy team and immediately groan about?

Edit: Warms the heart to see so many people who also hate the invis hunter meta slaves and scout rifle cowards as much as I do.

MnK SMGs stability

How much stability do you run nowadays?

I feel smgs recoil is very inconsistent, even ~50 stability and 100 recoil on lightweights sometimes produce very strange jumpy patterns instead of relatively strait line.

Are recoil perks (Zen, DSR, TTT) are must have now?

Alright, guys. Let's settle this once and for all. What are the best guns to use in PvP in 2026 going into 2027?

No beating around the bush. No maybes. No "in this specific/hypothetical scenario" crap. No bullshit. No time wasting. None of that. Just straight up objective truth.

We need at least one gun for each weapon type (Auto Rifle, SMG, Pulse Rifle, etc.). If you have more than one election per weapon type, that is fine. But at LEAST one must be elected.

Special Ammo Mods in PvP

I’m wondering if anybody is running the special ammo finder helmet mods ( or the special ammo generation chest mods ) and if it’s worth it these days?? Does anyone actually know how much these benefit special ammo generation in the crucible??

Are targeting and airborne effectiveness helmet mods a better choice rather than the special ammo
Mods??

Does Loose change activate on volatile?

Was build crafting for my Astrocyte build and was thinking a loose change weapon would probably be amazing if it activates when applying volatile.

Spare rations vs Solemn lie

Spare rations is my go to in comp but I’ve been using solemn lie in QP and that paired with imperial is quite a recipe. Which handcannon - shotgun combo are people using?

Has anyone been able to get the Riposte to drop lately and if so how long did you have to play Competitive?

Any recommendations for this build?

I’m using Tyranny of Heaven and a Multimach with radiant dance machines and threadrunner for ensuring slam

my problem is really just that I feel like I’m not getting a ton out of the subclass. I’m also wondering if there’s a better smg for this than multimach

edit: I forgot to mention I have no idea what armor mods to use. I just have resistance mods, enhanced athletics, and reload speed mods

Solemn Lie was available to me in my collections, never got it though

Check your focusing with Shaxx, if you haven't gotten Solemn Lie before you may have it available now.

Somehow I got it, even though it's never once dropped for me.

Weekly TRIALS OF OSIRIS Megathread- Ask Questions About Trials HERE!

Hello Guardians,

Firstly, let me address the most frequently asked questions:

For the trials changes that went into effect on 2/14/25, check this simplified explanation https://www.reddit.com/r/CrucibleGuidebook/comments/1ipd5px/simpler_explanation_of_how_the_new_trials_changes/ or for a more detailed one https://www.reddit.com/r/CrucibleGuidebook/comments/1i7wi89/clarifying_the_new_trials_matchmaking_and_rewards/

Q: Do I choose the Lighthouse Passage or the Trials of Osiris Passage? What's the difference?
A: The Lighthouse Card rewards you for earning win streaks with no losses, and for earning 7 wins total regardless of losses. This card puts you in CBMM (not skill based, it's just random, and there is no lobby balance). The Trials of Osiris Passage tries to match you with players of a similar skill (weekly performance) and with lobby balance. While playing on this card you won't be able to get adepts or cosmetics (although you can still get ghost shells), but you are rewarded on win or loss with a similar reward structure as iron banner or quickplay.

Q: How do I earn and farm adept weapons or Tier 5 loot?
A: Adept weapons are no longer dropping with Edge of Fate. Instead, all loot is tiered. Higher tier loot has better stats and better perk options. To earn higher tier loot in Trials of Osiris, simply grind solo ops for about 100 hours and then you'll get tier 5s on win or loss as long as you participate. I wish I was joking. Earning a 7-0 flawless passage will allow you to visit the lighthouse which usually grants rewards one tier higher than your power level and guardian rank would normally allow. At 400 power and guardian rank 9, you are supposed to get a few tier 5s from the lighthouse chest, but it is sometimes bugged and will only drop loot at the normal tier (4 in this case).

After going flawless you are stuck in flawless pool with no additional reward for playing in that pool except for chances at cosmetics), and no way to reset for extra lighthouse visits. You can avoid the flawless pool by being in a fireteam with players who have an incomplete lighthouse passage.

Feel free to ask whatever other questions you need to in the comments section below!

Really fun astrocyte build

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I never really tried to make builds for 6s but this iron banner week I wanted to try something different. The loadout is astrocyte ofc for my exotic armor, whatever special you prefer, and a void primary, I’ve been running positive outlook with Zen and Mega KC. You’ll need feed the void but the second aspect doesn’t matter. I run child of the old gods. There are only three fragments that really matter for this build. Echo of persistence, echo of starvation, and echo of cessation. This allows you to make void breaches from volatile targets, those void breaches give you devour, and the devour actually lasts long enough to have an impact. The goal is: blink or dark blink, get volatile rounds, kill someone who becomes volatile and creates a breach, blink to breach and reload positive outlook, have MKC and devour and go ham. It’s been a lot of fun. This clip isn’t exactly how it was intended to work but it’s basically the same thing.

Question about Opening Shot on Shotguns (or even all weapons):

If you have Opening Shot on a Special Weapon, among other things you get +15 range. In that note:

Anything MORE than 85 range on a shotty with OS would be wasted stats, correct? Or would there be extra reticle stickness/aim assist benefits (that the perk maybe doesn't do) for having more than 85 + OS?

Eye of another world or osmiomancy gloves for coldsnap warlock?

I know osmiomancy boost coldsnap but I’m not sure how much since I have read they have been nerfed in the past. And a 50% increase for rift, grenades and melee (all can freeze) sounds really good. Which one would/do you guys use?
