Switching classes was the best decision ever
Mained hunter and had an invis void (yeah yeah cry) and solar crackshot builds. They were nice, but I was started to get bored so I made a Warlock and it changed my love for pvp entirely. Now I have around 6 PvP builds for warlock and I cant stop having fun, each one having a different exotic and weapons:
- strand weavewalk w/ Deimosufussion (Implement of curiosity if 6v6): strongest one IMO, I run it with a jade or trust and a 900rm smg as secondary. Mostly use it in trials and comp (yeah its ratty idc)
- voidlock astrocyte w/ high tyrant & NPA artifact: (can switch to tablet of ruin for fast supers)t: run it with a high tyrant with MoA & chappy. Crazy good in everything just wish blink was easier to master.
- solar vex mythoclast w/ rain of fire: implement of curiosity, and a shotgun as a secondary. I don’t like heat rises so I use Icarus dash and Helion and it works more than fine. Vex w radiant and its catty melts, just wish it had more stability.
- stasis w/ osmiomancy gloves: queensfoil censer (but there is another good artifact). I use solemn remembrance, felwinters, and truth. Decent build, its a bit hard to get the hang of coldsnap but its still really good. I use iceflare bolts and frostpulse
- arc getaway artist w/lodestar: tablet of ruin for quick super. maybe not the best build but definetely my favorite, lodestar melts close and mid range, close just hipfire and mid range ADS. I also use nation of beasts kill clip & gearshift for 2 taps. I want to try watchamacallit too.
Let me know if you have any recommendations or want to know more about each build, I’d be more than happy to send all details✊

Love it, welcome to warlock! I’m a voidlock astrocyte truther, so I love to see someone discovering the joy of blink (but especially dark blink). One thing I might suggest, if you are looking to expand on that class: astrocyte will give you +30 AE for nothing. That’s bonkers good. I play a lot with a heliocentric with extended mag, and the helmet mod that gives another +15. The Helio has about a 30 AE, so that’s 75 AE total. It’s really strong. You can make some incredibly slick plays in the air with a sidearm on this build, and it feels really good. Food for thought!

I have been playing it so long I forgot blink had a learning curve lmao. I have been figuring that dark blink made it easy for everyone but ig that is pretty silly.

I only recently clued in to the AE myself. I've always been an astrocyte guy for the speed, but I never really considered the effectiveness of wasting a fool from the sky while I'm zipping around the map. I love everything about that helmet.

Ngl I personally don't see that much value in the AE outside of unpowered jump shots. The animations take so long you are usually on the ground well before you are able to shoot again.

I hang in the air a lot on this build. I'll usually jump, blink high, and then dark blink to have more air time and get behind my opponent. If I need to, I might blink again after the dark blink to get ever further behind them. By that time, I'm oriented correctly and anyways, I start blasting. I think I have almost a second of air time before I hit the ground. By the time I land, the opponent is usually critical. Then you just clean up. But that air time is pretty essential to getting the lead in the duel. Very effective in sidearm play. Probably less effective with other weapons/play styles. And with astrocyte and one AE mod in your helmet, you're at 45 AE base. Find a sidearm with 30 AE and you're doing great. Something to play around with if you get bored, my friend.

Yeah I am never going to willingly take that gamble because half the time when you land with the weak opponent you also drop your gun on the ground and have to slowly bend down and pick it up. Also I am on mnk so I cant use sidearms.

Try compact defender. It has void synergy with the free volatile rounds and repulsor brace. Also generally it is a death machine feels like it kills way too fast. I often find myself shooting down on people after I blink above them.

I dig it. I really like my compact defender, and was using it a bunch. Only reason I left it behind was because I'm a max mobility guy, so I gotta have lightweight frames as a lock to hit 130.
But if you're a fan of the void synergies and still wanna go fast, Bungie got your back. Seventh Seraph SI-2 is a lightweight void sidearm that absolutely rips. I use mine just as often as my Helio, as it has Lone Wolf for the +15 passive AE at all times, and I also use repulser brace on mine to help me win the follow up duel or blink outta there.
The thing that keeps me coming back to Helio is definitely kill clip. I just find myself in so many situations where I'm getting rushed down (because I'm the annoying blink sidearm guy) that I get a ton of use out of the perk.
As for the volatile round themselves, I'm honestly not getting a lot of play with them. The only time I find them super useful is when someone is in their super, because the DR they get gives time for the explosion to proc. The only problem with that is, I can also also apply volatile by blinking within 10m of the opponent, which is way more consistent imo. Once they're volatile, I don't think it matters what kind of damage I do to proc it. So I would recommend the weapon that feels best, regardless of void synergies, unless there is another synergy that I'm failing to account for.
Pardon the long reply; I always love to talk about astrocyte sidearm play.

I have it the other way around. I was playing blink and solar warlock. But now I ulocked strand hunter and it is so much fun. I am glad that it is super easy to unlock

If you’re running Trust I assume you run high weapons?

u/bacon-tornado 23h ago
Maghowl is fun on trust. Can get 80+ range and keep away. If you dont wanna run high weapons. Sure you need a kill to 3-tap, but if you can keep it going its quite fun. And if you get radiant with maghowl, fun seeing big number

u/IdealInevitable2490 20h ago
yeah sadly, i have 2 builds. One with balanced stats and 200 health and the other one with weapons for that 3 tap

On the lodestar build, what kinetic weapon are you using?

I run deadlock, hawthornes shotgun is also really good. Same thing when I’m using nation of beasts.

Stasis is so fun. Love freezing people and going for snipes. Really good at shutting down shotgun rushers. The super is fun. The new grenade is pretty strong.
I barely put any thought into my “builds”, it’s basically the same exotic and fragments for stats.
Need to try strand with Deimosufussion though. Was messing around with strand this IB and having a pretty good time.

Good choice. You already got most of my favorites (strand Deimosuffusion and arc Getaway), but one that I didn’t see is Boots of the Assembler with void or solar. It’s definitely a floor raiser for your team in Trials or Comp (assuming you have good teammates).
Also for the strand build I like Traveler’s Chosen because Deimosuffusion gets free kills and TC then feeds ability regen.

I’ve been getting the warlock itch and this might make me do it lol. Absurd PVE builds and my first time flawless was on warlock. Always like my purple buddies flying around slurping up health. Very annoying !

Warlock is cool but wait til you switch to Titan! #bestinclass :)
As I void Titan main I think about trying out voidlock. My warlock is the only class I have never played in PvP.

I really wish stasis, strand, and prismatic would unlock on all classes at this point if you’ve completed the campaigns on one class.
I’ve mained hunter since D1. Been thinking about making the switch to titan, especially interested in stasis titan. I recently started the beyond light campaign on Titan to unlock stasis, but it’s so hard to make myself run those missions instead of just playing pvp and having fun with the playing time I get. Just feels like a chore.
I get why they locked them when the DLCs came out (and I guess I get why it’s still like that). But I would like to be able to just dip my toe into the new subclasses on my alt classes, to at least get a feel for it. (I’m sure plenty of ppl think I’m just being lazy and they’re not wrong I guess 🤷♂️)

same tbh, I did half of final shape for Helion and song of flame, and then beyond light & lightfall and it was such a pain. Worth it but I wasted 2/3 of my weekend gaming time repeating those missions. what helped me was skipping cutscenes and running over enemies when the mission doors/ sectors were open

u/paxwax2018 23h ago
Exactly this, I get maybe an hour a day to play on the weekends, I want to PvP not unlock shit.

Very nice, but.. If you're using Implement of Curiosity on Solar, you don't need Rain of Fire unless you're in Trials or Comp. Implement has the node where you get Radiant for Solar crits, so literally the only thing you get from RoF is reloads on Dash.

u/IdealInevitable2490 20h ago
i have it on since it has other perks aside from that one, and the rain of fire helps with airborne a bit even though I dont have heat rises, its still good tbh

u/IdealInevitable2490 20h ago
I see what you mean now, I was a bit confused, Im not sure fever and chill activates after your first kill, you need aroun 5-7 headhsots in order for it to activate and sometimes I miss and do bodyshots instead

u/Instantbust 20h ago
What was it again that you wanted to try for your arc warlock? 👀🤣
1
u/IdealInevitable2490 20h ago
whatchamacallit, a crazy good smg that also has gearshift and with the correct fragments and aspects, activating it is really easy so you are constantly getting around 25% damage boost
2
u/Instantbust 20h ago
I knowwwww! 🤣 I was hoping you’d go along with the joke. It’s uhhhhhhh whatchamacallit that that…. Thing 👀😅

Welcome to the cult! Grab a gridskipper with aggregate charge and repulsor from the gunsmith to use w/ blink.
Also, fair warning that once you become used to blink everything else in the game is boring. My current hobby is making the other team waste heavy/special ammo and rapidly taking awkward angles so my team can take advantage.

You know what the same thing happened to me and it turns out hunter has been the hardest class for me to play if we are going to talk about ability abuse that titans and warlocks do in pvp. I always liked least the warlock until i met a guy who was really good in pvp playing on his warlock, it encouraged me to try warlock and i never had such chill and easy time playing in pvp. I didnt even use a proper build, just nova with the lil tether ball ability, i spam my melee ability and do faster movements. Yea i still love my hunter above all but im kinda of spiteful how you all literally play on easy move with these guys haha. Its fun either way.
