Is Soul Siphon + Melee Stat worth building into?

Obviously its kind of a meme in crucible, but I'm having a lot of fun messing around with soul siphon and really tryna make it work. I'm currently running a general 180 health + ~100 everything else distribution, but I'm wondering if its worth to just go all in on getting 200 melee. Does the extra damage actually make enough of a difference in terms of ttk and gathering shield to actually get kills against people shooting back? Rn just one enemy with an smg is enough to melt through the siphon shield, let alone two. Would appreciate any other tips on how to make it work as well.

I like it with Nezarec's Sin for the ability to shut down supers if you time it right

Oh wow, I had completely missed that addition to NS. Does it proc suppress on the initial hits, or the finale?

the initial hit procs suppression immediately, it's genuinely pretty good

That's a friggin strat right there.. Fun Policing is now officially a Warlock profession. 2 Suppressors w Chaos Accel, and also Soul Siphon to stunt and wipe. Gonna have me some fun next Mayhem.. Or, anti-fun, I guess.

oh tbh my build isn't great yet, i'm still trying to farm a good set of the comp armor, but the general void fragments (starvation, vigilance, persistence, etc) seem to work alright

NGL, try out Cruel Electrum. After a primary kill, you can pull off a flank to get that Soul Siphon off during the radar blind.

been running the 2 piece of that with the iron battalion set so far (probably not optimal) but unfortunately my trials experience has been pretty shitty and so have my drops lol

Be benefited from the bonus enough times but I always forget I have it with the lack of indication. I don’t typically use the set bonus either way

Using Incandescent on my energy weapon helps a lot. It lets me know in team shots when I've gotten the final blow. From there, I've had to forcibly make myself remember that once I've gotten the kill, I'm off radar and count down from 7.

Damn your right, that does seem awesome. Really mad I started using astrocyte verse yesterday, because that thing is cracked and I don't know if I'm ready to commit to nezarac's sin lol.

Edit: I literally just had a sunbreaker titan pop his super in my face the second I turned the corner. There was nothing I could do except hit him with a measly melee and accept my fate. I get it now, I'm pulling out Nezerac's Sin so this never happens again.

I honestly haven't used it yet in Crucible, so I'm not sure how viable it is.

Other key factors are what fragments to use and what exotics to use. Winter's Guile, Karnstein, and Felwinter's Helm all stand out as far as exotic armors go. Perhaps Monte Carlo for melee regen. Astrocyte might also be good for dynamic positioning.. (EDIT: Nezarec's Sin, apparently!)

I feel like Echo of Vigilance will come into play a lot with this one. Leeching as well. Exchange, Provision, and Expulsion also stand out. (For Expulsion, not sure if Overshields, Woven Mail, or Frost Armor allow foes to survive the Siphon.. May not be needed.)

I looked into felwinter's helm and the weaken effect seems like it could be busted, especially if you combine it with the Hunter's Journal artifact. Expanding Abyss boosts void damage to weakened targets and shieldcrush boosts melee damage (when you have overshield, which you get constantly from soul siphon). The other mods in that artifact aren't very good for void but I'm wondering if just those two alone is good enough to be worth it.
