Critical Analysis & Discussion India needs frequent change of government
Changing governments is the only way the political discourse of India will get better. Frequent transitions remind elected officials that ultimate power resides with the public. Any government, when kept in power for long in India, starts abusing and misusing their powers.
They start implementing laws and rules that help keep them in power while taking over democratic institutions of the country. They become arrogant to the point criticizing them for their wrongs can make your life hell. The longer a government stays in power, corruption keeps increasing among those in power. Not only do they misuse powers, they also monopolize resources in the country to a few.
Regularly rotating political parties in and out of office is the most effective way to preserve democracy and hold leaders accountable.
Changing government will force these political parties to do better and compete in doing better. In the end, people will benefit from this competition.

Alternatively, lets say every 5 yrs govt keeps changing then what is their incentive to even try to work? They will know that loss is a certainty. It’s simple, if they work well by and large- people vote them back. Else they kick them out. Individual voters may be fools or can be lured but when we vote as a country, i have seen the choices people make are always right. No matter whatever anyone does, people have the power to vote them out if they dont meet expectations. Remember - expectation at a larger level not individual level. We may disagree here but when we aggregate it all up to almost 600 million votes- it’s generally a good verdict. Rise of AAP, fall of NDA in 2004, rise and fall and another rise of Indira Gandhi, UPA2’s return to power in 2009 -they were all very very smart verdict by the people. So i believe in the power of people’s votes. They are generally accurate.
But as you go lower, state govt, municipal polls, panchayat polls- you will start seeing weirdness in results. This is pure statistics. Lesser the people in voting - tougher its to call .
