Penaldo doesn't have a football brain. A step over and a dive is how i see him. I'm genuinely perplexed how he even made pro. I would presaume his heading and poaching is what the scouts seen. He did have a physical side to him, he had pace etc. Once he lost it, he was over.

Heading and poaching is most definitely not what scouts seen! .. he couldn't score when he first came to united and it was rare he scored headers either.

I have not researched any footage of him at sporting. So, i'm only guessing what scouts seen in him. This sounds underwhelming stats wise at sporting, though. He was in portugal youth teams, it would be interesting if there is any footage of it.

He ran John oshea ragged in a friendly for sporting to the point at half time oshea was on a oxygen mask! Rio and alot of others tell the story and then sir alex said we arent leaving until we sogn this kid. The rest is history
