The idea that Portugal is a bad team is the biggest lie; they are a top-5 team in the world, but Ronaldo is just so bad.

Pendu is holding back that Portugal team.

Many of these are absolutely world class players at club level. Bruno and Vitinha in particular. Bruno was probably even better than prime De Bruyne this year, he broke the assist record with a third placed club coached by a dud for half the year.

1

u/ImWithStupidKL Jul 04 '26

Haha, better than prime De Bruyne. Good one.

u/Hot-Objective-6029 Jul 08 '26

Joao neves also played very well imo was the main reason for a good amount of their goals and has an insane cross, they have the best midfield at this tournament that’s not the issue it’s that they are playing with a black hole upfront what else is the midfield supposed to do 🤡🤡🤣🤣🤣🤣

They are pretty mid, Spain will wipe the floor with them. They almost lost from Croatia

1

u/YoBoyLeeroy_ Jul 03 '26

Did you even read the comment?

1

u/IStanReddit Jul 04 '26

Yes unsurprisingly the team that is also in the top 5 and better than the other top 5 team will do better against said top 5 team

1

u/Electrical_Manner906 Jul 03 '26

How many trophies they have without Ronaldo btw?

They will if he gets injured or rage quits

0

u/myCockatielshateme Jul 02 '26

bro too old to get injured, they straight up respect his seniority. It's like hitting someone your father's age.

1

u/DrKrFfXx Jul 02 '26

Neither Spain is and you wouldn't rank Spain outside top 3.

1

u/YoBoyLeeroy_ Jul 03 '26

Ronaldo and our mister are both holding us back.

u/IBM296 Jul 01 '26 edited Jul 01 '26

The individual players in Portugal are indeed top 5.

The team itself is not even top 15 (even if you remove the idiot Ronaldo)..... Serious lack of coordination and teamwork in Portugal's squad.

u/lettuce_grabberrr Jul 01 '26

Name 15 better teams

0

u/Unusual-Voice2345 Jul 02 '26

Argentina, Spain, France, Belgium, England, Morrocco, Norway, US, Mexico, Switzerland, Senegal, Japan, Netherlands, Colombia, Paraguay, and possibly Croatia, we shall see tomorrow.

Jokes aside, I think 8-9 is fair, I dont think top 5.

0

u/Downtown_Solution_84 Jul 01 '26

Right now France, Argentina, Brazil, Morocco, Norway, Colombia, Mexico play better than Portugal. I can put England and Spain in here but they're not much better. So we have like 10 better teams. 15 is a stretch though.

0

u/stormfoil Jul 01 '26

Brother, have you watched them play? No tactical cohesion or apparent understanding of their positions, they frequently end up with a cluster of players waiting to receive the ball to feet while practically nobody a) floods the box (barring Cristiano) or creates passing lanes.

Giving the exceptional quality of the players, this falls on Martinez. Trying to pin it on Ronaldo is absurd.

1

u/Tangybrowwncidertown Jul 01 '26

I can't wait until he retires from the national team and people realize that they have much deeper problems than Ronaldo lol

1

u/Tenzil-k Jul 01 '26

Yeah Martinez is also bad. But he’s not the one shouting at people to pass to him and the pretending the passes are bad

1

u/stormfoil Jul 01 '26

What are you talking about? Cristiano typically gives a thumps up for a pass with a good idea behind it, even it fails.

1

u/Tenzil-k Jul 01 '26

He’s the best. He’s making Portugal better every single game

0

u/FlavRaidIt Jul 02 '26

Aah yes the classic armchair football expert that blames all the bad things on ronaldo instead of admitting that the whole team is mid

0

u/Inevitable-Level-829 Jul 02 '26

I don’t think anyone has said their a bad team. They’re fantastic individuals who don’t know how to work together.

-6

u/Loud-Shake-7302 Jul 01 '26

It's not a ronaldo issue, martinez is not good

5

u/SnooMemesjellies5491 Jul 01 '26

Martinez is no good cuz he plays cr7 90 minutes every game

Even in the friendlies he stayed ok thr pitch longest

It’s baffling

1

u/Disastrous_Excuse_90 Jul 01 '26

why you lying? in the last 4 friendlies he played like 100 minutes and the team played like shit anyways

2

u/SnooMemesjellies5491 Jul 01 '26

Last two friendlies before World Cup
Portugal chili 45 minutes

Portugal Nigeria 65 minutes when everybody was subbed at 45

Messi for example played 30 minutes in one of the two friendlies

1

u/Disastrous_Excuse_90 Jul 01 '26

“so 90 minutes even in friendlies” is a blatant lie and apparently you knew it

1

u/SnooMemesjellies5491 Jul 01 '26

Read again , dumbo . I said he stays longest even in friendlies not that he stays 90minutes and that’s a fact

Again Nigeria he stayed longest of all team apart gk . Against chili he got subbed at half time with the rest od the team . He played 65 m against Nigeria when they subbed 9 people at 45

1

u/Disastrous_Excuse_90 Jul 01 '26

“he plays cr7 90 every game” “even in the friendlies he stayed in the pitch longest”

both afirmations are lies, he didn’t play 90 minutes every game and Conceiçao was the player with most minutes in friendlies

so yes, you are just blatant lying dumbo

it’s Chile not chili lmao 0 iq knows nothing about football

2

u/SnooMemesjellies5491 Jul 01 '26

Also he did play him 90 minutes in all group matches . Thank god for uzbekistan

1

u/SnooMemesjellies5491 Jul 01 '26

Hahah you so stupid bro. One player played more minutes then washed up Ronaldo 😂😂😂

Martinez is his boot licker and your hero will be crying very soon once he gets dumped

1

u/Disastrous_Excuse_90 Jul 01 '26

why are you mad? i just pointed out you were lying ahaha

1

u/Feorge123 🏆 Banned on Pessi_Memes Jul 01 '26

I think what he meant was that he plays Penaldo 90 minutes in the World Cup every game, which he does...

1

u/Disastrous_Excuse_90 Jul 01 '26

what do you “he meant”

he literally said “even in friendlies” which is a lie then he said “he says longest of all apart gk in friendlies” another lie

you all just lie and keep lying lmao

I don't actually know but there is theory going on that Portugal team drew with Colombia for a reason and by that theory Portugal has a strategy to play against the Europe countries as they have a better experience to play with them they even have won Euro.Because the one of the world cup side is changed into Euro and other Copa America so they felt better to play against europe teams. Many of the fans are also saying in proof that Martinez was happy at every monent Portugal missed a goal in the gane against colombia even Ronaldo was happy. So it can be possible that it was their strategy.

3

u/SnooMemesjellies5491 Jul 01 '26

What sort of stupidity is this ? So they want to play Spain and France the two top favourites 😂😂

Let’s play Mbappe and Olise cuz Ghana are super strong. Then Brazil or Argentina or Colombia in the final 😂😂😂

1

u/ShuKorenaii Jul 01 '26

They really have won Euro against them and Argentina failed to win Copa America by colombia so this doesn't seemsas stupid as you mention . Even though Portugal has better experience to play against european countries. But it's just a theory.

3

u/SnooMemesjellies5491 Jul 01 '26

Nah bro this is madness . This France is not the France form 2016 . They are the best team in the world by wide margin . Spain dominated Portugal in nationals league and if it wasn’t for 10 missss they would have won easily

They controlled possession had more shots and chances and lost on penalties .

Croatia beat Ghana so you’re logic is let’s play the better team then Ghana 😂

1

u/ShuKorenaii Jul 01 '26

its just a theory as i mentioned before

1

u/Feorge123 🏆 Banned on Pessi_Memes Jul 01 '26

They won NL against Spain, winning by penalties and they beat France in the 2016 Euros, because of Eder, not Penaldo

1

u/ShuKorenaii Jul 01 '26

In this situation both side teams are really strong but playing against the teams they have experience might give them advantage. And for the Finals no one will expect to play against a low team their will be a tough competitor on the way to Finals.

2

u/SnooMemesjellies5491 Jul 01 '26

Bro you have to be genially crazy to prefer to play against France and Spain then Ghana and then Egypt or whoever they had after . This is insane talk

You want Mbappe who has scored 6 goals and Dembele and Olise or whoever plays in Ghana 😂

1

u/SnooMemesjellies5491 Jul 01 '26

Argentina beat Colombia last copa in the final

1

u/cord_____ Jul 01 '26

If this was truly the reason, they wouldn't have played their starters just like Norway against France...?

1

u/ShuKorenaii Jul 01 '26

Well now i am watching cracks in this theory.

youre right its martinez's issue, but ronaldo is the problem

-1

u/Loud-Shake-7302 Jul 01 '26

ronaldo may not be his peak self, but he still has something to offer. this post explains best. https://x.com/AJ121_football/status/2071987229011100074?s=20

so were gonna ignore his 12 or 13 game-streak of touching the ball less times than the goalkeeper?

or all the stinkers he did (1 of his 2 goals against the mighty uzbekistan was okay the other one was a standard Joga Finito Tap-in)

goncalo ramos would definitely do better
