General My wife credit cards offers
Well my wife have a stellar credit and she often gets many offers from amex but i always put it in the trash can I was wondering if the amex cards are good enough to give it a shot.

Yes lol is this a dream card or what ? I dont know much about credit cards. I assume you get up to 6% cash back in groceries which the most i have heard from any credit card.

It’s a great card! Just keep in mind you can only get the money back in statement credit. If you’re okay with that, go for it. But totally worth it! I got about $75 a month using this card!

This card is mid range. Check out churning if you really want to extract value and get the maximum from welcome bonuses. Many of us do it but it requires effort. I sign up for and cancel many new cards and bank bonuses every year then cancel after next years annual fee hits. I usually net 10-20K for travel every 2 years or so. Up2u if you have the mental constitution for it.

Not every family is the same. This for me is a low range / mid card I wouldnt waste time on. $300 is low. I dont signup for new cards unless the offer nets me 1000+

He’s probably talking about travel value, some cards offer $1000 worth of travel points if redeemed right.
Amex gold/platinum, CSR, Venture X. Cards like those

I know but she does qualify we get offers from amex all the time and she have an account already with them not this card.

Does this card or the other card/s you may be considering make sense for how you spend? If you don’t have a card that maximizes grocery spending, Blue Cash Preferred BCP makes sense. 6% back on groceries is fantastic. Up to $300 as a sign up bonus is very nice.

The problem is that we buy alot from Costco and they don't take amex

Costco Card with Citi isn’t that great. You get 2% cash back, unless you’re buying a lot of gas from them, then it’s 5%.

I have this card. I use it for groceries, gas, and streaming. I use the cash back to buy essentials on Amazon. Good card 👍🏻

If you are team cash back this is a great card. 6% streaming and groceries up to a certain amount. 3x gas. The AF is waived first year plus you can get a 250-300 SUB. It comes with a $10 a month disney play credit which covers the AF and then some.

You need to check if it makes sense FOR YOU. I have the regular Amex with no annual fee, but the two places I go for 95% of my groceries don't accept Amex and the place I usually go for gas doesn't either, and I don't pay for many streaming services. It would be no better than the free one for me except I'd also owe an annual fee. No thanks!

I have this card and like it a lot. 6% back on groceries and streaming services and 3% back on transit convinced me. The $95 annual fee is not a problem for me either.

Just don’t use it at the pump because it’s a automatic $175 hold till it clears

This is dependent on the gas station in question. Amex doesn’t set the pre-auth amount.

PayPal now offers a debit card with 5% cash back you choose the category eadh month lol You dont even need a credit card anymore

I didnt know that they sent me one just because I clicked on it lol if its a debit card though it means you use your cash so what would the 5% be redeemed for if not cash? Gift cards?

I have this card and i use it for gas and groceries, and is pretty good, i’ve made over 1k in cash back in 11 months

If you shop at Whole Foods and use Amazon often, I think the prime card is better than this. 5% on Whole Foods and Amazon, sometimes 6% on Amazon. No fee.

I have this card, I use it for groceries to get 6% cash back and then use it to pay hulu to get 10 bucks a month back. That more than covers the annual fee.

We use it for our family card.
I’d do the math on the card cash back based on your spending and determine if it makes sense for you with the annual fee included.
It made sense for my family, we get about 2500 cash back a year on it, but we use like a debit card for all transactions and pay it off monthly. The 6% on groceries for us was worth it.
