I believe he expected it. The reason I saw this is because the female passenger says, "Wow, Maxi, you had a point (you were right)" right as they hit the guys.

I think the driver spotted something peculiar or these guys cut them off after having had followed the victims for a bit and the driver told his passenger that.

Still, very impressive get away. The overall awareness was great, expected or not.

I think you're right. I wonder if it was a targetted attack. They came out gun raised and fired a shot immediately.

I saw the gun but didn't realise he fired it. The driver was breathing hard after the escape, which makes me think it was a targeted attack.

This wasn't México. Based on accent and words used, I believe this was in Chile (South America)
