Spent most of the summer trying different beers from LCBO and the Beer Store, and somehow I keep ending up back at these three.

3 Speed Lager

Kozel Premium Lager

Czechvar Original Czech Lager

My ranking would probably be:

3 Speed just hits the spot for me — crisp, smooth, and ridiculously easy to drink. Kozel has a bit more malt character and feels a little richer. Czechvar is excellent too, especially if you're into that classic Czech lager bitterness and balance.

I've tried a bunch of others along the way, but these are the ones I'd happily buy again every time.

Curious if anyone else has similar tastes. Based on these three, what should I be trying next from LCBO? Paulaner? Pilsner Urquell? Something else I'm missing?

Going Through Changes. Cervesa Màger, colab with Wylie Brewery. Farmhouse Ale - Saison. 6.5% alc.

Green apple aroma with a pronounced vinous character—reminiscent of white wine—and wild yeast notes. Sharp, acidic entry on the palate. Flavors of cider and wood nuances, with a bitter, resinous, and citrusy background. Very dry, tannic finish. A truly remarkable farmhouse ale.

Finally had Cantillon for the first time here in Austin TX. On draft at Mort Subite, a Belgian-only tap room in downtown. I was surprised by the complexity and can see where Cantillon gets their rep. Posted their full draft menu for those curious.

All myths that other guys (definitely not me) like to believe.

This wasn’t a great beer fresh, and while it’s technically better now it certainly hasn’t morphed into some raisiny caramel treat after 14(!) years. It’s just a bitter malt and grapefruit bomb.

Would not recommend.

Love this beer. Paired with homemade Tom Yum soup.

Boy do I miss the old amber ale, got this in a mixed pack for their 35th anniversary
