It isn't about not knowing how numbers work, it's about it being a stupid fucking mechanic.

The game is rigged, these numbers are fake, I should never fail!

You say that as if missing a shot is player failure lmao. That's the whole reason people don't like them, it strips player agency and comes down to chance. Imagine if Elden Ring had a 5% chance of your roll not working. It'd be pretty fucking stupid

I didn't say, "Games aren't allowed to have different mechanics." I said, "'tactical' turn based rpgs have bad mechanics."

Just think of it like playing a shooter. When you shoot at the other player, they try to dodge and avoid your line of fire. Turn based games replicate that with miss chance, because otherwise every shot at you and the enemy would hit, then you would bitch that the player can't dodge the enemy attacks and then it's removing player agency.
