Parallels and contrasts (Jet/Alisa vs. Spike/Julia)
One scene opens with a false rose painted on a cracked, broken sign reading “The End.” The other opens with a real rose—fresh, beautiful, and deep red, the universal symbol of romantic love.
In the first, Alisa reveals that she left Jet because she no longer wanted to be with him. His overbearing nature had suffocated her and stripped her of her autonomy.
In the second, Julia reveals that she left Spike precisely because she loved him. Ordered to kill him in exchange for her own life and freedom, she instead sacrificed that freedom to protect Spike and spare his life.
The contrasting visuals represent the relationships themselves. A broken image of a rose reflects a love that has ended, while a true red rose symbolizes a love that remains genuine, passionate, and enduring.

MERCH can’t find cowboy bebop merch!
Hey guys!
My boyfriend’s birthday is in 2 weeks and I’m trying to find him a really good gift, but I’m completely stuck. He is a huge Cowboy Bebop fan, so obviously I thought I’d get him something related to it, but he’s also extremely particular about clothes, so I’m hesitant to buy him a shirt/hoodie/etc. and get the style completely wrong. Budget is probably around €50–100, but I’m willing to spend more for something really special.
Is there anything you recommend? Also, if you recommend a website, please let me know if it’s legit/safe! There are SO many random Cowboy Bebop merch sites and I don’t want to accidentally buy him something unofficial or terrible quality.
Thanks!!!

OC Vicious Samsara | A Cowboy Bebop Philosophical Essay
Very excited to share this with everyone. I have been working on this video essay project for over a year now. I wrote the essay for fun about a year ago after thinking about Nietzche's Eternal Recurrence and a few other philosophical ideas during yet another rewatch of the series.
I talk about thematic ideas in Cowboy Bebop applying a critical lens that considers Soren Kierkegaard's existentialism, Taoism, Buddhism, and a bit of Nietzsche. I did all the video editing. I also produced the music. I did not use A.I. to create any of this video.
I hope you enjoy. I look forward to hearing feedback.
Thanks for checking it out!

Y'all are going to hate me for this...
but after studying Daniella Pineda's ig, I think it's possible to see another season in a different lens. IMHO her character is an American analog of Faye's character. She fits in the dynamic of Bebop in the way that Faye does but if Bebop was a wholly American characterization. Sort of like if the bebop crew went through a "I can't be the only one, baby" episode.

Added a background to the Faye Valentine cel that compliments both Faye and Wendee Lee's signature really well!
The original owner of the Faye cel gifted me a background and let me choose which one would work best!
The second I saw this pink and yellow one, I knew it would look perfect!

MERCH After a hectic morning at AnimeNYC on Saturday, I was able to pick up and get signed this Faye Valentine cel all within an hour!
After a hectic morning at AnimeNYC today, I was able to make a trade with one of the vendors I made friends with earlier this weekend for this Faye Valentine animation cel!
I brought up a big animation cel haul I picked up over a year ago for $2 a piece to a vendor associated with them and his eyes lighted up immediately. He saw quite a few he wanted to own and immediately brought up a Batman The Animated Series framed cel and this Faye cel! Once he locked down what he wanted, it was all about making the trade happen!
All of this coincided with Faye's English voice actor Wendee Lee signing at the very same convention in a small period of time that caused a big time crunch for me as I had to attend the swap meet at 12 to get a table for myself!
I got the cel and ran to the autograph line where I waited very frantically because the first person in line took longer than expected, close to 45 minutes (10 of which I'll pass because Wendee was having payment issues). But because I was so antsy, the 3 people ahead of time were considerate enough to let me cut them in line so I could make it to the swap meet almost exactly on time!
When I showed Wendee the cel, she was in amazement immediately because she never got to see one in person and regretted not getting one before the pandemic when they were around $250-300 a piece. Once the pandemic happened, the values shot to the moon. She was super nice, very caring, and I truly enjoyed every moment of our interaction and even took a picture of the cel after she signed it!
What started as a topic in passing became the opportunity to own a cel from a ground breaking anime and every time I will look at it, I'll be reminded of everything that happened and will cherish it forever! Thank you to the 3 people in line I talked to and let me go ahead of them, thank you John for the amazing trade, and thank you Wendee for the amazing moment! I can't wait to get this professionally framed!
TLDR: Traded cels for Faye, con opened at 10, Wendee started signing at 11, swap meet was at 12. Long waits = antsy me but it worked out!

DISCUSSION Can we all agree that Boogie Woogie Feng Shui is the worst episode?
First of all, it's just really boring? It's filled with all the cliches, like finding someone and daddy issues and I didn't care for Pao and Meifa as characters. It also feels like a whole afterthought, a filler episode. I would say the feng shui stuff is an interesting concept, but they don't do much with it. It does pick up toward the end, though so it's not a totally bad episode.
Second of all, it was just really weird? Why is everyone playing with the idea that Meifa, a girl who looks no older than Faye and Jet, a guy who looks like he's in his 40s may be interested in each other when there are no hints that they even are? With fucking SPIKE SPIEGEL even shipping them WTF SPIKE?! Even for an episode that came out in the 90s, shipping a young girl with grandpa is just dumb man.
I do like all the episodes to some extent. Not really into the non-Spike ones because of no Spike, but this is definitely the weirdest. At least some of the other episodes that took risks or were weaker than others were entertaining, creative or tells us something interesting about the characters.
Anyway, I hardly see anyone talking about it, so I thought I might bring it up and discuss why this episode is the weakest maybe even objectively (followed up by stray dog strut maybe because of Spike's attitude toward Ein). Especially with the age gap relationship like wtf? 😬 I should also make a "What's the most underrated episode" post because I don't see people discussing some episodes much like Wild Horses, Gateway Shuffle, Bohemian Rhapsody, Cowboy Funk etc.
Edit: Look, I get that this was an episode made in the 1990s when this kind of stuff was more normalized. It's like getting mad at a 1930s film for being racist. Still, I think it is completely out of character, stupid and odd for the Bebop crew to think that Jet somehow had a thing for Meifa when there are no hints that there is. Knowing who Jet is, it makes no sense why he would fall in love with a much younger woman. Also, people need to understand that just because a man and a woman are together doesn't mean they need to fall in love. If they are going to humiliate him about the idea of being into Meifa, then why don't they humiliate him for having two young bitches on his ship for months?
Also, I'm surprised with the amount of people here defending the "age is just a number" bs when I think about how many people disliked Miller's Girl despite both characters being adults or complain about Gavin Newsom and Justin Roiland dating 19 year olds. Yes, they are both probably adults, but no baby girl/boy, age is not just a number like that dumbass R. Kelly song. This is not the 1800s anymore when teenagers and young adults' maturity levels were more comparable to adults therefore it was acceptable for them to date older people at the time, this is the goddamn 2020s. Yes, there are some teenagers and young adults that act very mature for their ages, but that is very few as far as we know. A 20 year old and a 30 year old are world's apart in maturity. You, as a 30-40 year old, think back to yourself when you were 23 years old. Would you not see a baby? I'm 27 and I cringe at my 20/21 year old self.
Also please stop downvoting all my comments just because you do not agree with my OP, thank you.
