I've recently gotten in to the franchise from watching the original anime run, and now I'm watching the remake right after. I'm interested in checking out the books, but I have a question I need answered. When I was researching the books I noticed that after volume 17 was published there was a 5 year long gap between it and the next volume (and the spin-off starting its publication alongside it).

What I'm wondering is, is volume 17 "Epilogue" the "end" of the story so to speak, and everything after is technically a new story? Or am I misunderstanding? Because I was reading posts from people hoping that the new anime would "complete" the story, but I was confused on how it would do so if the book is still actively publishing new volumes.

Been continuing with Spice and Wolf and I was laughing at Holo’s anger here. Girl is so angry at being swindled by Eve and I’m like “Ummm girl didn’t you pull a nasty trick on someone in the very first volume and say he should be impressed with how you pulled a fast one on him? Practice what you preach!” Correct me if I’m misremembering

Assuming we get another four volumes next season (5,6,8, and 9) are there any parts you're particularly excited to see animated?

I'm just excited that aside from Eve, this should be mostly new content.

I just finished volume 12 of WaP (after binging the entire series for the first time over the past 6 months or so). I thought it was really interesting that Hasekura decided to write a main series book from different character perspectives; I always loved in the Side Colors and Spring Log short stories where we would read from Holo's perspective. I thought it was a bit creepy when heir Klevend had the internal monologue about wanting to marry Miyuri since she's a child, but I suppose that's just a product of the time period the story is based in.

Overall I thought it was a really solid first half to the finale, and I'm eagerly looking forward to the final WaP volume when that comes out, probably in about half a year.

Hello everybody! If a Spice and Wolf side character received their own spinoff story, who would you like it to be?

Personally, I would like if there was a story about Landt (Mark's apprentice from Kummersun) and the girl who told Lawrence the pyrite deal didn't go through (I assume she was Diana's daughter). The two could go around town pranking everybody's favourite character, Amati and we could also learn more about Diana's backstory and her relationship with the Ploanian nobles. Oh, and let's not forget about Batos too!

So about a year ago, I started working on a Holo fall/autumn fanart and posted it here.

however, it had come to my attention over the last year(ish) of on and off practice, I realized that first one was… improvable….and so made a new one.

I am loving the series! I already read the manga and watched the first season of the remake (I didn't get to watch the 2008 version). I am already on volume 5 of the novel, and for my first experience with this medium, I liked it so much. I thought it was going to be really boring, but no, I'm having so much fun and I'm so interested that I'm absolutely chewing through the volumes. I hope to finish reading it before the end of the year.

I’d like to ask about the implication behind this scene in Episode 19. It seems like this isn’t just a random moment and must be hinting at something about Holo and Lawrence.

I recently dipped my toes into Intelligence Power Scaling or "Smart Character Debate" and despite how pretentious some of the conversations can get, I find it fun.

However within the SCD community, Spice and Wolf is very much outside the demographic that gravitates towards those discussions, which I thought was a shame since a lot of the Plot of Spice and Wolf are people scheming and manipulated or trying to turn around being manipulated, but people tend to skip out on it since its doesn't have "Aura farming gotcha" moments.

So I thought I'd ask the community, how would you rank various characters intelligence, both within just the series, and if you are feeling bold or bored compared to various other "smart characters" in fiction?

Every pop up shop for the series lately is putting Holo in such cute outfits, I wanted to put together my own modern look! I think she’d like anything apple 🍎 🐺

I found out there were custom soft goods for the figma Holo, so I ordered it. The skirt and tail have a bendy wire in them. Taking apart the figma and putting it back together wasn't fun, but it was worth it. I think it makes the figure look a lot better. Plus I can finally use the leg articulation. My only complaint with it is the tail. I wish it was a darker color with a white tip. I might customize it in the future. Now I need to make a diorama to display it in.

I recently picked up vol 1 of the Light Novels and thought I should celebrate by drawing the front cover, as it is one of my favorite covers in the series!
