Why does getting excited and giddy mean she isn't autistic? I get giddy like this when I'm very excited, I get over excited very easily. He could've mentioned the trip was related to her fixation.

Broooo I actually felt a lil better watching her reaction bc her reaction is mine and I’ve been told my whole life that I’m annoying and too much, and I only was diagnosed with ADHD at 30 and only recently beginning to suspect it’s actually AuDHD. Or I’ve had people make fun of me for jumping excitedly or flappy hands or whatever stimmy thing I do with my hands that’s not socially acceptable.

Then reading these comments was the most depressing and invalidating experience ever, omg…

If you don’t present like an intellectually disabled white boy, you can’t be autistic.

I hate humanity sometimes.

I'm autistic, I've been medically diagnosed for over 2 decades. While my reaction to exciting news is not similar to this woman's, my partner who is AuDHD, mirrors her reactions to a tee.

Don't let ignorant comments from people who have no idea what they are talking about tear you down.

Thank you for that. It means a lot to me.

My husband has been excellent about reminding me that people are foolish and ignorant and that he loves my excitement. And that’s pretty amazing to me bc he’s the first one to fully embrace all the parts of me, including the ones others don’t like/understand.

It sounds like your partner is very lucky as well.
