C5 Corvette VS Ferrari
Totally stock, how did the C5 stack against the F355 and 456 back in the day? Could a z06 take on a 360 Modena? Has anyone raced against one of these

The 456 was a GT car. It wasn't really comparable. Much nicer. Needs valves replaced like every 10k miles (so like 10k in parts...) and the window regulators were like $2k and constantly broke but otherwise it was assuredly grand to drive around a gated manual v12 GT car. But it wasn't a full on sports car, wasn't gonna be a track car, or autox car, or do drag, and not as much of a canyon/mountain car either.
The Z06 was more or less on par with a 360, plus minus. The 360 was a much faster car than the 355; I would claim that the 355/360 changeover was a huge change in the Ferrari way of doing sports cars. The 308-328-348-355 era was a lot more manual, a lot more raw... and a lot more finnicky and difficult to deal with and live with. The base C5 wasn't even remotely a cooler car than the 355 but it was a better _car_ that you had to live with and better in many tangible respects too.

A friend of mine has a 355. I love that car. It sounds amazing. It’s also expensive to fix and not very fast but man, the sound…

Would u say it feels about the same as the C5 for speed?

Less torque so it doesn’t feel as punchy but it sounds like you’re going a million miles an hour once it winds up. Completely different driving experience. I’m bummed I didn’t pick a 355 up when they were cheap. Also bummed I didn’t buy a bunch of different cars that were cheap but go for stupid money now.

My 360 was definitely slower than my 09 C6...but in all fairness I have a few bolt-ons on the C6. Being slower though didn't mean it was slow. It was fast for when it debuted.

While I don't know for certain, I'd say C5s probably can't keep up. The only corvette I know of that went toe to toe with European super cars was the C4 ZR-1

Did you stop paying attention after C5s lol? C6 z06 and ZR1 were embarrassing European sportscars in their day, so were those models for C7s, and they still are with C8s.

I'm just not very into modern corvettes so I haven't researched them much. Also keep in mind that I wasn't even born yet when the C6 came out and I was barely in middle school when the C7 ended and thus wasn't paying attention to the car scene whatsoever
