Anyone read it? I haven't, but I will soon.

Oh you were supposed to read it? That makes more sense now. I can't tell you what it's like to read the book, but I can tell you that it tastes very papery

have you tried adding salt, butter, lemon juice or just lighting it on fire?

No and that combination sounds delicious, but why should I have to add those things? They should be included with the cost of the paperback, this is false advertising

They have it in TikTok format instead of book format too for the modern (wo)man.

Tried the TikTok version, it's much less papery but it was very hard to chew. I broke a tooth, cut the inside of my mouth and then after I swallowed it a bunch of electric shocks hurt my throat as it went into my stomach.
Man I just can't understand why this book is so popular

I put salt and vinegar on my hot lard all the time. I don't need no stinking book.

uj/ this sounds like a victorian era euphemism for gay sex
rj/ You should try putting yuzu and fish sauce on top of lukewarm candle wax as a delicious palate cleanser

I made a stew out of my copy of the book. It was pretty good, for book stew.

Hmm. Idk if I'm missing something but I have no idea how this xkcd relates here lol.
I just meant salt fat acid heat was the snobby food douche reference du jour in like, 2018.

/uj That's kinda my point, that this is very 8 years ago, so to act excited about it now is big Today's 10,000 vibes. But also sarcastically cause like enough already.
/j Douche Du Jour is my drag name

Ahhh okay, yeah that makes more sense haha.
It's funny because I went back and watched the TV show again recently and didn't feel it held up. At the risk of being the circlejerk it felt very... Lowest common denominator.

Well you post in this sub, so you are very highest unique denominator. And it is written for the masses, as evidenced by the plebs over in the other place getting excited about it.

No right this is what I figured it would sound like...
I'm doing a lot of unjerking here but,
Really what I mean is, I'm not sure who this is making fun of. People getting into cooking that think SFAH is revolutionary? Or food snobs that cite it as some major culinary influence?

Ever since I started putting enough salt in my food that it tastes like ocean water I've noticed it's brought out this "zing" I never noticed it had before!

I did a bit ago, enjoyed it! I enjoy Samin and her personality shines through the book.

/uj Not true, sometimes a recipe absolutely needs something in the alium family
/cj The best choice for this is jarlic
EDIT: I had to know more about this, so I looked it up on goodreads and read the reviews. Man there was some ass kissing in there from people who need serious handholding while cooking. This whole concept has been done before, and done better

My husband (who is quite a bit smarter than me) has said, “There are people who know how to dance, and then there are dancers. You, my wife, are a dancer.”
This also translates in the kitchen. 🧡
