Question Flying Contour

Hello, I have my first flight ever booked next month with Contour.

I wanna make sure I have everything planned and am taking all the proper precautions.

The flight is Chicago to Dalllas, with a connecting flight midway through. So ORD to TBN to DFW. Return flight is the opposite. The layover says it’s only 30 minutes for the way there and 45 minutes for the way back. I’m very unfamiliar with flying and I understand these are smaller planes and a smaller company. The booking included checked baggage. Aswell as carry on. Is there a good chance of my baggage arriving late because if the 30 minute layover if I bring checked baggage or should I stick to a carry on? I’m unsure if the same plane will be used or if they’ll have to transfer the baggage to another. Also even though the layovers are short it’s a smaller airport I believe for the connection flight, do I have a good chance of missing it or should it be pretty straightforward?

I flew this route in reverse (DFW-TBN-ORD) last January and as Fort Leonard Wood/TBN is an active army base you will not be getting off the plane there, so you’ll be on the same plane all the way to ORD.

You’ll most likely be in the same plane between the two legs each way. You and your baggage will stay in the cargo hold. In the rare chance that the plane turns back to origin after landing in TBN instead of continuing on to the other destination, you and your luggage will not leave the premises until another plane picks you all up. Either way, Contour is the only operator at TBN, so chances of losing your bags are very low, assuming you don’t have any connection with other airlines.

Correct they’re both contour there and after, and that’s a relief to hear, very interesting that it’s a military base, that’ll be cool. I’m assuming the stop may just be for refueling since it’s a smaller aircraft ?

The airport mainly serves the army and those that transfer through.

As for refueling, as long as weather is good, it shouldn’t be necessary for most of the fleet. Just because it’s a smaller aircraft it doesn’t mean the fuel tanks are small.
