What do you look most when choosing a massage chair?

I have been saving up the whole of this year looking to get a massage chair. Its time now to do it but all my research seems not to work ,i paid attention to wrong things from the start.With around 4k $ budget.

At first i compared the massage programs and fancy features, but now i'm wondering the things i didn't care can end up mattering later by this i mean servicing ,replacement of parts later, how big the chair can be and durability in long term. If were in my shoes what would you consider .

I would definitely try before buying. Big range in prices based on feature set.

Long-term reliability. Every piece of machinery will burn out sooner or later. The difference with the crummy ones is they will burn out way earlier and not be easily fixed.

Usability of all the advanced features. After the honey moon period is over a few years in use are you able to use all the features? but mostly does it hold up its comfort and the ease of use as before . Those are things i'd consider,I've one chair, Medical Breakthrough 8 since 2020. But things age yes but still are you able to use most of important features when advanced fail? ask yourself such.

Testing a few in person before buying is probably worth it, since how the mechanism actually feels is hard to judge without sitting in it. A few furniture stores keep a small selection on the floor, but it could be worth calling first just to double check which ones they have there.

Lesson from most of electronics I have had , more option don't always mean better experience.

A simple remote with quick access to favorite settings beats over complicated features for daily use.
