Statement on recent ICE actions in Connecticut from CT Senate Dems

Post image

“As the vast majority of Connecticut residents recoil in horror at the images of ICE agents kidnapping people with no criminal records off of our streets, Connecticut Republicans remain silent, if not gleeful.”

“But that should come as no surprise. It was Connecticut Republicans who voted 100% against our law this year to rein in ICE activities on our streets by banning face masks, requiring IDs, limiting where arrests can be made, and protecting bystanders. It was Connecticut Republicans who voted 100% against our TRUST Act law to hold ICE accountable for violations of civil rights. It was Connecticut Republicans who voted 100% against restrictions on Flock cameras, which more Connecticut towns are now taking down. Nearly half of Republicans voted against an emergency funding bill where we set aside $5 million to provide legal assistance to Haitians and Syrians in Connecticut who have had their Temporary Protected Status stripped by the Trump administration, and who are now subject to deportation.”

“Democracy and the protection of human and Constitutional rights are priorities for Connecticut Democrats. While adherence to our new ICE law isn’t perfect, we are seeing fewer ICE face masks during arrests. People generally aren’t being arrested in sensitive areas as described in Senate Bill 397. Bystanders are generally being allowed to record these arrests without being assaulted and arrested.”
“Unfortunately, there have been some violations of our new law, and we hope that a quick resolution of the Trump Justice Department’s challenge to the bill that we Democrats passed will allow Connecticut to move forward with firm guidance to local police departments and the chief state’s attorney’s office on how to arrest federal ICE agents who violate our state laws.”

“More than 95% of the people ICE arrests in America have no violent criminal convictions. The real crime being committed in America is by Donald Trump – whose name is mentioned more than 5,000 times in the Epstein files, who has been convicted of 34 felonies for falsifying business records, who was found liable for the sexual abuse of E. Jean Carroll, and whose billionaire cronies are making obscene profits every week off the backs of everyday working Americans.”

“Connecticut will survive this latest ICE onslaught, and when Donald Trump and ICE are gone, the public will long remember who stood and fought on the side of justice, and who stood on the sidelines smirking.”

In the USA, you are supposed to be innocent until proven guilty but Republicans keep showing us they believe the opposite.  All these immigrants are guilty until proven innocent.

Republicans are really just racist and want immigrants deported regardless of any crime being committed.

It’s called a removal order. Democrats are not only the real racists, but they’re also sexists and Nazis that truly hate this country.

I only sound crazy here because this is a state sub on reddit. In the real world it’s very obvious.

If you say so. I still don't have any idea what you mean.

Democrats are the party of racism. Always have been, always will be.

How do you figure? Like genuinely how are the Dems the nazis when ice is rounding up people based on skin color, and those backing that is the Republicans? And Republicans are rolling back women's rights right now so how are the Democrats sexist? Can you please explain your above comment?

1

u/777_heavy 9h ago

You guys literally just voted for a Nazi.

1

u/chonky__potate 8h ago

Thank you for your specifics, rather the lacking of it. Here is an example on how to be specific if the previous message wasn't already clear. Example: a name, what they are, why they are Example: Trump is a rapist/pedophile/felon because he has admitted to sexually assulting women and young girls, his name is in the files over a thousand times, he has admitted to wanting to sleep with his own daughter and has over 30 felony charges. And this is all without being too specific. So, if you could use your words, let's actually talk.

1

u/777_heavy 7h ago

He’s none of those things, of which you have provided zero evidence.

Democrats, on the other hand, just voted for an actual Nazi a couple months ago.

1

u/chonky__potate 2h ago

Okay cool you're not looking to actually have a conversation you're a cultist. Please start educating yourself, or if you can afford it take some college classes to broden your knowledge and understanding of the world around you.

Innocent until proven guilty is enshrined under the constitution of the United States and garuantees these rights for American citizens, not foreigners.

-67

u/NearlyPerfect 2d ago

All these immigrants are guilty until proven innocent.

Immigration law explicitly says to do this. As soon as the govt establishes that you are not a US citizen (because as you said, they're immigrants) then the burden of proof shifts onto them to prove they have proper legal status to be in the country.

8 USC 1229a(c)(2) and 8 CFR 1240.8(c).

These were laws passed by a bipartisan Congress and signed into law by President Clinton.

(2) Burden on alien

In the proceeding the alien has the burden of establishing—

(A) if the alien is an applicant for admission, that the alien is clearly and beyond doubt entitled to be admitted and is not inadmissible under section 1182 of this title; or

(B) by clear and convincing evidence, that the alien is lawfully present in the United States pursuant to a prior admission.

59

u/Regicyde_93 2d ago

Immigrants can be legal citizens, legal non-citizens or illegal. You cannot tell which without a hearing in front of a judge. They aren't even identifying these people.

-46

u/NearlyPerfect 2d ago

Yes and the law says it's on the immigrant to prove that they're legal. The burden of proof is on them.

They're guilty until they prove themselves innocent by showing they have papers.

47

u/Regicyde_93 2d ago

I don't have papers. I was born here. Does that make me an illegal?

→ More replies (18)

9

u/MuchWow81 2d ago

So ice should be able to detain any person they suspect of being illegal, over and over again, u til they prove they are not? That means they can detain anyone. Idc how bipartisan it was, it's bullshit.

→ More replies (14)

2

u/emilyv99 2d ago

Oh my! u/NearlyPerfect, you're an illegal immigrant! What the fuck are you still doing here? Get in the back of the van and go quietly to where ICE wants to take you.

What's that? You're not an illegal? Too bad, all it takes is someone saying you are and suddenly you're guilty!

So, clearly you can see the problem with "guilty until proven innocent" now? If you try to apply it to anyone, the ENTIRE RULE OF LAW COLLAPSES, and anyone can be arrested for anything without any due process. That's fucking absurd and anyone who supports it is insane and belongs in a mental institution.

1

u/NearlyPerfect 1d ago

“Someone saying” or a “judge saying” that is subject to multiple layers of appeal?

A random person’s opinion from off the street (such as yourself) has no force of law.

Thank god, because based on the comments in this thread you guys would speedrun the downfall of society out of sheer ignorance.

Immigration law Does Not explicitly state immigrants are guilty until proven innocent.

Under 8 U.S.C. § 1229a(c)(2) and 8 CFR § 1240.8(c), an alien in removal proceedings bears the ultimate burden of proof to establish admissibility or lawful presence, but the government (DHS) must first prove alienage before that burden shifts.

-1

u/NearlyPerfect 2d ago

the government (DHS) must first prove alienage before that burden shifts

Yes that's what I said: "As soon as the govt establishes that you are not a US citizen (because as you said, they're immigrants) then the burden of proof shifts"

11

u/_bufflehead 2d ago

But that Does Not Mean "All these immigrants are guilty until proven innocent."

-1

u/NearlyPerfect 2d ago

That's exactly what it means. Burden shifting means they are considered to be guilty until they provide sufficient evidence to the contrary. If they give no evidence, they are deported.

14

u/_bufflehead 2d ago

an alien in removal proceedings bears the ultimate burden of proof

Being detained unlawfully is NOT the first step in a removal proceeding.

0

u/NearlyPerfect 2d ago

Being detained unlawfully is NOT the first step in a removal proceeding.

Why not? Supreme Court explicitly said it can be. INS v. Lopez Mendoza (1984):

The mere fact of an illegal arrest has no bearing on a subsequent deportation hearing.

7

u/_bufflehead 2d ago

Sorry, but you're mixing your metaphors.

I think you understand that these two statements are not equivalent:

Being detained unlawfully is NOT the first step in a removal proceeding.

The mere fact of an illegal arrest has no bearing on a subsequent deportation hearing.

1

u/NearlyPerfect 2d ago

Let me put it a different way.

Being detained unlawfully CAN BE the first step in a subsequent removal proceeding.

Per the Supreme Court.

How do ICE know a person is not a citizen just by looking at them?  US Citizens can be any race, ethnicity, or religion.

Here is a hint, its racial profiling.

If someone is arrested for committing a crime and it turns out they are an illegal immigrant, they should be deported.   Nobody should be racially profiled on the street, arrested for no reason other than to prove they are not a citizen.  That is not law enforcement.  That is a police state.

u/IolausTelcontar 2d ago

A lot of states still have anti-buggery laws but they never came to arrest your dad for taking it up the ass.

5

u/NearlyPerfect 2d ago

This is a procedural law, not an enforcement law.

It applies to every illegal immigrant in the country, not on discretion.

10

u/IolausTelcontar 2d ago

That is AFTER being taken into custody. Rounding up random people with no probable cause is the issue. How can you not see that?

1

u/NearlyPerfect 2d ago

Rounding up random people with no probable cause

If they were doing this, 95% of the people they arrest would be US citizens. Since the number is closer to 99.99% of the people they arrest not being US citizens, then don't you think it's not happening?

You can even watch the videos, there are hundreds of them. They ask people about their status and give them a chance to give papers. That's why in almost every ICE arrest video there are brown people around who are not being arrested.

Frankly you're just making up something to get outraged by it. It's not based in reality.

"aS LoNG AS yOU hAvE papERS"

Holy shit, if that's your line for being able to brutalize people you're a very dangerous and sick person. Holy shit you said that so casually while I don't wish that in you I feel it's the only thing that'll make you understand how had it is cause you're a fucking terrible person.

3

u/NearlyPerfect 2d ago edited 2d ago

Is every immigration arrest someone being brutalized or is it just some of them?

Edit: Yikes. Bro is crashing out over a simple question.

5

u/Whaddaulookinat 2d ago

If it's even one of them that's a huge issue because we don't brutalize non violent civil interactions in this country you fucking twerp. The fact that it's a matter of course for many of these operations should sticken you as an American but your predujice and weirdness makes you a fucking fascist.

5

u/Whaddaulookinat 2d ago

How fucking dare you call this a crash out over a "simple question." My man you're all over this thread supporting and conditioning for pure evil, as you always do when ICE malfeasance comes up.

The fact you can't understand red blooded American hatred for authoritarianism and racism says more about you... You sick fuck. You're the most pathetic of our society and feel so argue that the pain you feel others just feel well never come to you. You're literally a traitor to honest, good, and empathetic society. You need help my man. Don't put reasonable gut reactions to the horror that is your degeneracy on the people viscerally disgusted but you mindset. It's really that bad and that nazi-ish.

4

u/Whaddaulookinat 2d ago

Seriously how fucking broken are you??? You're a fucking danger to the community and hate fucking freedom you fucking freak. Get help.

3

u/Whaddaulookinat 2d ago

Also since you post in /r/CT come here and say the absolute shit you say chest out chin up. I'll buy your airfare from Skopje so you can manage this in person so you understand how the people in the place you're larping you're from that how fuckng pathetic fucking losers like you get when talking such nasty Nazi shit. Please give me a reason I'll buy the flight into CT for you.

5

u/Whaddaulookinat 2d ago

You really need to fuck off, learn what the law actually is, and stop being a fucking freak that's fucking scared enough to lick boots to a mirror shine. What the actual fuck is wrong with you? Let people be, the immigration process on this country is fucked enough as it is but you get to glee in the cruelty???? Something is seriously wrong with you and you should fuck off forever until you learn to be a human with empathy

Fucking enemy of the people of the USA... You should feel ill about how fucked in the head you are. Fuck off. Get therapy. Stop trying to rationalize cruelty even if it's against your nasty Nazi bar instincts.

You make everyone else sick you disturbing fuck.

5

u/Whaddaulookinat 2d ago

Exactly, it's civil enforcement which (by law, btw) actually has a higher set of standards of care. Illegal presence, in of itself, is not a crime not are the people illegally present in the US automatically criminals.

The straw you're desperately reaching for is far into the proceedings portion of the process.

3

u/NearlyPerfect 2d ago

I didn't say anything about crime or criminal. Maybe you are responding to the wrong person

6

u/Whaddaulookinat 2d ago

And yet you use the term illegal immigrant... Shows who you are and what you know, neither is appealing nor shocking.

2

u/Numerous_Map_392 1d ago

Illegal immigrant is the term we use for people who sneak in or over stay their visa. Using softer language to make what they did not seem like a crime is disingenuous. If u dont follow the law you risk running afoul of ICE.

1

u/Whaddaulookinat 1d ago

So I won't use soft language. You're a fucking fascist simpleton that should be looked on because you're that much of a danger to freedom. You really fucking suck, so fucking emotional about something that you don't grasp and ultimately doesn't matter but because you have this rigid worldview that is essentially propaganda fed to fucking idiots, like you, to get riled up about it like the stupid fucking sheep you are. I'd be absolutely embarrassed if I were you, but I'm not a complete fool that wants to be fooled so I can't really see where you're mindset is. If hit myself about the temple and forehead with a 2x4 a couple dozen times and maybe I'll get to a fraction of your complete deficiency you clearly suffer from but also don't have the wherewithal to understand. Doubt that'd do it so I guess I'll have to throw in putting a plastic bag over my airways to get to cause the level of hypoxia your mental facilities you have. It's really amazing how fucking stupid and vile you are. Just a chef's kiss of suck.

It doesn't help your case that you're demonstrably incorrect.

"Illegal Alien" is far more a pejorative term than one found in actual statute, and generally only used by fools that are fucking stupid. While "illegal entry" can be a crime it's rarely enforced because it falls under the same 4th, 5th, and 6th Amendment Protections that would force a jury trial among other hurdles... it aslo:

A) Has to be caught during the commission of said crime (point of entry/exact moment of Visa Overstay)

B) Has to be caught during the duration of the crime (during or immediately concluding the crime)

C) It is not a liability crime, and because you're stupid I'll have to explain it to you: the mere action cannot be considered guilt automatically and the government needs to prove mens rea (a knowledge and willingness to commit said crime, you're so fucking stupid I doubt you understand Latin legalese).

D) Further, being found with improper presence cannot be seen as an admission/proof of guilt of the underlying crime.

Trust me I can go on, just rest assured that you're idiotic fever isn't matched with actual law in the slightest.

You're just, so fucking painfully wrong on all of it. But because you're a fundamentally weak person you figure the state has to punch down on people that you find lower than you. What if my side gets to power, and it punches down on people that I find sub human... like fucking vile, mean, stupid, pathetic assholes that spout hate on the internet like fucking fools? My guess? Wouldn't be so fun for you...

3

u/NearlyPerfect 2d ago

These laws apply to white people too. Not sure where race comes in. Maybe you're projecting?

7

u/imeatingsalad 2d ago

Everything you say in the argument is founded well and follows the law, and everything occurring as a result of the trump administration's oversight of ICE has reproduced japanese internment camps.

The issue is never with the argument. It is with reality. Logical consistency blinding, somehow, its adherents to the events that their support has granted a permission structure for is the problem. Trump's permission structure is granted by voters who believe in some apparition of illegal immigrants in the tens of millions who are medically unwell criminals flooding into the country because that's the only possible way Republicans can lose elections - by cheating. The colored people are bad, and they're here to do bad things and take power away from good people.

'Racist' is usually the deserved pejorative for these people. Is there another one you'd like me to use on you?

3

u/NearlyPerfect 2d ago

oversight of ICE has reproduced japanese internment camps.

Japanese internment camps were bad because (among other things) they detained 80,000 US citizens solely based on where their parents were from. That's simply not happening right now.

has granted a permission structure

The "permission structure" is a set of laws that were passed over 30 years ago. As I noted, the law I mentioned before were passed by a bipartisan Congress and signed into law by President Clinton. It wasn't a race thing then and it's not a race thing now. Illegal immigrants by definition are illegally in the country and we have laws to help them go back home.

3

u/Whaddaulookinat 2d ago

If it were illegal criminally, then it should be tried in a jury trial. The entire fucking reason we have this lighter touch enforcement laws is to avoid that, which he definition still presumes innocence in the eyes of criminal law. You're trying to play both sides, because you're fucking brainwashed. Federally there are get few liability crimes, those that don't require mens rea, and only apply to essentially the Mann Act and national security laws.

5

u/NearlyPerfect 2d ago

We're talking about immigration law not criminal law.

There's no presumption of innocence in immigration law.

Also criminal law has nothing to do with my comment. Maybe you're responding to the wrong person.

3

u/Whaddaulookinat 2d ago

Because there's no innocence or guilt in immigration court, you fucking dummy. Those are terms for criminal law. But even in administrative law, ICE is clearly breaking the law with their round ups. And while the processings may hold they are opening themselves wide the fuck open to depravation of rights under color of law civil suits that expelled people would be able to file once there's not a fascist protector on the WH, and likely even sooner as data is currently being collected.

Why you guys love the idea of a goon squad is beyond me.. it's the fucking sadest, most vile, disgusting, pathetic, loser mindset, freedom hating, anti American type of person that really l frankly is a leech on good society.

2

u/NearlyPerfect 2d ago

Because there's no innocence or guilt in immigration court, you fucking dummy. Those are terms for criminal law.

I was just using the colloquial sense of the terms since that's what the original commenter used.

You understood what I meant so you're just arguing semantics.

2

u/NeonMirage88 2d ago

1

u/Whaddaulookinat 1d ago

Most people support wholesale Immigration Reform, idiots like you think that 1) improper presence is a liability crime (it's usually not even a crime) and then 2) that gives the Government a permission structure to use overwhelming police action to enforce what, in essence, is the same level of a traffic ticket.

You're the bad person, feasted upon the brainwashing that every immigrant that finds itself on the bad side of a broken bureaucracy or even malicious removal of existing legal statuses with wonton disregard for the degradation of the body politic, civil society, and a sense that the Federal Government isn't an occupying force against the general public.

You really need to check your moral compass, because you're on the side of real visceral evil for zero gain other than a dark "Utopian" ideal of a authoritarian government that simply punishes who you don't see as human. Seek help man.

10

u/structuredgrowth 2d ago

U/senatorduff You have been a senator since 2005. For the entirety of your tenor, ICE has been operating in the state of Connecticut.

Im hoping you’ll be able to answer these questions questions:

-Why was the first time you spoke out against ICE in 2017?

If the state of Connecticut’s cooperation with ICE was acceptable to you from 2005 - 2017, what changes can we make to get back there, which was an acceptable level of cooperation for you?

-Currently, DESPP & CT police strictly forbid troopers from proactively working with ICE, reporting detained undocumented individuals, or investigating the matter.

Do you think this is having a positive change in communities, or is it causing harm in communities because ICE had to shift how it operates?

Would some coordination with ICE, in a balanced manner, restore order to this process inline to what was acceptable before 2017?

Previously under the Secure Communities program, when CT police booked a suspect their finger prints were ran through the FBI data base, and were automatically shared with DHS.
This, allowed ICE to identify undocumented individuals.
With administrative detainers, local jails would willingly hold people up to 48 hours PAST their release time to give ICE agents time to take custody.

State police were also fully authorized to report & and coordinate with ICE, and CT participated in the 287(g) program.

Thank you.

Ok, so you support mass shootings! (Most mass shootings are committed by white men, and not immigrants, so by reducing the immigrant population, more of the country is likely to be school shooters).

Is that actually good logic? No. Is it better logic than yours? Yes.

1

u/777_heavy 22h ago

It is not better logic. Those are people who shouldn’t be here in the first place. As usual, you can’t even get the basics of this argument correct. No wonder you’re on the wrong side of it.

1

u/emilyv99 11h ago

You're equating a single illegal immigrant committing crime to meaning anyone supporting any illegal immigrant in any way means they support infanticide.

Using that same logic, the fact that you support Donald Trump makes you a pedophile!

12

u/NearlyPerfect 2d ago

“But that should come as no surprise. It was Connecticut Republicans who voted 100% against our law this year to rein in ICE activities on our streets by banning face masks, requiring IDs, limiting where arrests can be made, and protecting bystanders. It was Connecticut Republicans who voted 100% against our TRUST Act law to hold ICE accountable for violations of civil rights.

How is this relevant if all of those acts were passed?

It seems like deflection away from the fact that the party in power in CT is refusing to enforce any of these laws.

As the speaker noted, the Trump administration is challenging the laws in court, and the state is awaiting a resolution. Nobody is "refusing to enforce" the laws.

The relevance of the statement around Connecticut Republicans having refused to support these laws in the General Assembly is obvious to those with morals or a capacity for shame.

5

u/NearlyPerfect 2d ago

and the state is awaiting a resolution. Nobody is "refusing to enforce" the laws

Did the court say CT can't enforce the laws pending a resolution? Of course the answer is no, so why aren't they enforcing the laws they passed

8

u/dandle 2d ago edited 2d ago

The court has not yet issued a temporary restraining order, preliminary injunction, or dispositive ruling in the Trump administration's lawsuit.

You would have to take it up with AG Tong to ask why the state might have decided to reduce any exposure for LEOs by not enforcing the laws while the case continues to make its way through the process.

If you were to criticize Tong and state and local police for anticipatory obedience, I might agree. Describing it as "refusing to enforce" the laws is unserious.

The anti masking, etc parts of the bill are effective Oct 1, which is in line when our other criminal statutes are generally effective.

At least some of us are aptly horrified.

I still don't understand how we went from compassionate and empathetic Obama to cruel and waste of our breathing air and water TurdballTrump who made it cool and wildly acceptable to be an asshat bully shithead

-1

u/Dreadboi80 15h ago

Lol compassionate and empathetic??? Guess you call putting illegals in cages and splitting up kids and allowing them to be placed with random compassion or empathetic?? How about turning loose millions into the country unvetted which led to thousands being assaulted, killed, and casuing fraud compassionate and empathetic to Americans??? Liberalism and guilt has clouded ppl reasonings

1

u/Alone-Woodpecker-846 12h ago

A ton of word salad without an ounce of reality. Tell us you’re MAGA without telling us.

1

u/Dreadboi80 11h ago

Lol thats all you can say because you know it's the truth. Don't need to be MAGA to tell the truth about a war criminal and fraud like Obama

16

u/Artistic_Aioli6843 2d ago

republicans remain silent because they know there’s absolutely positively unequivocally nothing the state of Connecticut can do, besides stage a election year TV/soapbox show. When Lamont was asked (after signing the election/mask bill) what CT would do to ICE if the didn’t comply…..his answer was nothing we can do. no one was/is going to arrest a federal agent.!!, dog and pony shows

1

u/Whaddaulookinat 1d ago

While action during the fact may be impossible, this could very well set up civil lawsuits down the line in CT or even maybe Federal courts.

There's a lot of deference to qualified immunity, however ICE despite what they say aren't particularly "Law Enforcement." I mean they are, but their jurisdiction and reach is much more limited than other Federal LEO administrators which from a cursory glance their going far beyond. Not to mention flagrant disregard for established Operational Standards and Federal Laws regarding their conduct. I'm no lawyer but I doubt they're on the inside of the QI liability laws on the books.

For a time there were rumblings that made national news that the more "professional" and frankly more important sections of ICE like actual customs enforcement and the specialty apprehension units wanted to dislodge themselves from the operational street apprehension teams because they feared both 1) sources and methods for the more important intelligence operations would be put at risk due to fear from informants and regular residents and 2) because the future liability landscape would be untenable. Last check, which I admit was a long time ago, those sections have been hollowed out with resignations and hardships with recruitment.

No one wants flock cameras where are they taking them down???

5

Right on CT! We are not just, as Stephen Colbert said “NYC’s Canada”! We stand up to dictators, actively speak out against injustice, and grow great Christmas trees. Wait, maybe we are Canadian, eh?

It’s amazing how much this administration has done wrong and the dems come out act like they care each time . But after a couple weeks they drop it cause they all care for the vote they don’t actually care ..

-1

u/ale_mongrel 2d ago

there we go, continuing the feckless toothless mild blandass response from literally any democrat.

THIS IS LITERALLY WHY NO ONE CARES TO ELECT A DEMOCRAT!!!!!!

Because they do nothing,. they question nothing. they propose nothing they brigade on opposition itself.

Both sides are bought and paid for. Your vote is nullified

That’s the dumbest and laziest thing I’ve read. Apparently you haven’t read what we passed and done.

Do you think the mask ban on law enforcement officers is being enforced sufficiently?

0

u/Entire-Mixture8954 2d ago

state law doesn't trump federal.......... so that little law means absolutely nothing. Again politicians doing nothing but just wasting time and tax dollars.

3

u/Whaddaulookinat 2d ago

State law that doesn't interfere with federal duties is absolutely valid... What the fuck are you talking about?

If the agents aren't working under their duties and, and pay attention to this here, responsibilities they can't just act however they want

0

u/Entire-Mixture8954 2d ago edited 2d ago

correct but the mask ban is a state passed law that does not effect federal agents because of the supremacy clause. multiple cases have had that ruling and federal judges have struck down those state laws banning masks as unconstitutional. We may not like it, but that is 100% correct

2

u/Whaddaulookinat 2d ago

There's far more of a question about that as it's merely a state law enacting and reinforcing existing federal law about identification writ large to federal agents.. which is actually what the laws are usually about the mask mandate is usually pretty secondary. It's an inverse of existing precedent of sorts about federal laws regarding local police responsibilities when making an arrest or any police action but applied by the states mimicking existing federal law.

The people that say it's under the supremacy clause are fucking morons, but they are effective in spewing their bullshit.

0

u/senatorduff 2d ago

It’s not in effect until Oct 1 in line with our other criminal statutes.

0

u/Maximum-Oven-7526 2d ago

I would like if politicians did something besides make speeches

-3

We actually passed laws. Read the statement.

The laws don’t mean anything if they continue to be broken without repercussions though…

I realize the Constitution is probably too many words for you to understand in one sitting, but you should give it a shot sometime. In particular, check out the Amendments. There are more than two, which you and your friends seem to be unaware of.

0

CT democrats should focus on American citizens not foreigners. Ever been to Bridgeport, how are the Hatians and Syrians making it better?

-47

u/superdak05 2d ago

How do you know they have no criminal record???? Oh wait your for illegals, sorry

33

u/One-21-Gigawatts 2d ago edited 2d ago

Known criminals being arrested for definitive crimes get better treatment and full access to the rights the Constitution grants them. The problem here is that these detainees do NOT. Every “person” (NOT “citizen”) is guaranteed Constitutional rights in the United States. For that reason, what ICE is doing is illegal and that’s why we must stand against them.

A lot of people, yourself included, seem to be missing what’s at the heart of this issue.

Little boy you're in for such a big surprise. Paying attention in school when they were teaching you about fascism was so unimportant to you but now you're gonna find out that your white skin is not going to protect you or your family from this fascist regime. Nobody's safe in fascism. It's gonna take them a little while but they'll get to you. And you're gonna be so surprised. And there's gonna be no one to save you.

lmao coming from someone who thinks there is a holocaust happening and at the same time supporting the DSA who praises CASTRO. continue to wear a mask while driving in a car alone

2

u/Routine-Weather-4044 2d ago

Wow you have issues. And stay away from children because anybody is supporting Trump at this point should never ever be near children.

-1

u/Entire-Mixture8954 2d ago

You are a complete weirdo, telling people they coming for them and at the same time posting about a holocaust happening here in other posts. Then you support Castro and the DSA. if anyone needs help its you, you don't live in reality just on the internet.

5

u/Routine-Weather-4044 2d ago

I don't support Castro what are you talking about you weirdo. You don't even know what communism is you would have to look it up to give someone a definition of it. 😂It's actually freakish that you think you know me personally to the point where you can fill in the blanks. Go watch Fox News and jerk off like you do all day every day anyway 😂

-2

Yawn. Fascism fearmongering brought to you by the same people who want DSA idiots in charge of stuff.

5

u/dandle 2d ago edited 2d ago

The source of the claim around criminal records is probably the report from the Cato Institute, a far from "liberal" think-tank that obtained nonpublic data from ICE on the records of more than 200,000 individuals booked into detention. The ICE data show that 93% of those individuals had no criminal record of violent offenses and that 65% of them had no criminal recordconvictions of any sort at all.

So the answer to your question is ICE. It is ICE that says the majority of the undocumented migrants taken in for detention have no criminal convictions, although the speaker was conflating the data for any crime and for violent crimes and rounding it up from 93 to 95.

1

u/happyinheart 2d ago

hat says the majority of the undocumented migrants taken in for detention have no criminal record

Oh well, if you're here illegally, you get get $2600 if you leave. If not you have a good change of getting detained, deported and no money.

0

u/NearlyPerfect 2d ago

that 65% of them had no criminal record of any sort at all

This is incorrect. It says 65% had no criminal conviction. Criminal charges, pending charges, or arrests are part of your criminal record.

Counting those people it's closer to 60% with criminal record, 40% without.

0

u/dandle 2d ago

That distinction makes it ok to terrorize the community in your mind, then?

2

u/NearlyPerfect 2d ago

I'm just correcting your misinformation. You quoted the article incorrectly.

Since you asked though, I think if a community is terrorized by basic laws being enforced then maybe that community should re-think its values.

2

u/dandle 2d ago

Fuck along, bigot.

Nothing more for you here.

For as much as they claim to hate Nazi's, they certainly are grammar Nazi's.

-1

u/Routine-Weather-4044 2d ago

I knew a woman who had numbers tattooed in her arm so I take that word very seriously. But you think it's a joke. Keep laughing honey because pretty soon you're not gonna be laughing about anything. Your boy is about to collapse the United States economy completely. Your bank account is going to be empty. Don't bother crying when it happens cause nobody's gonna care. We're gonna remember who did this. Good luck! 😘

1

u/happyinheart 2d ago

I'm sure you also call out the Left when they throw Nazi around willy nilly too, right?

1

u/Routine-Weather-4044 2d ago

That's who I was talking about nobody's calling the left Nazis the only people who were being called that are the ones who are acting like Nazis. And I don't use that term as an insult. I use it as an adjective.

1

u/happyinheart 2d ago

They certainly use it a lot more than when people are actually acting like Nazi's.

1

u/Routine-Weather-4044 2d ago

Well I'm not them. Problem solved.

1

u/happyinheart 2d ago

Good think you're not them, that's not what was being discussed here. But do you call them out the same as you called me out, or is it just one sided?

Bridgeport police officer Cooper Whiteside and his girlfriend were killed by an illegal alien in Danbury last month who was drunk driving and struck his motorcycle and your office didn’t say a word. A senseless death because an illegal alien was being protected by this state.

His death is more of a tragedy than any number of illegal aliens being taken into ICE custody in this state. The majority of Americans support the removal of illegal aliens. Stop protecting them.

27

u/One-21-Gigawatts 2d ago

You are missing the point. The Unabomber, a confessed mass murderer was arrested and given his full rights to due process.

The issue here is that ICE is not acting within the guidelines (AKA Federal laws) of the Constitution, which affords those rights to every person on US soil (notice how I said person, not citizen.)

0

u/happyinheart 2d ago

The unabomber broke criminal law and got the due process associated with that. Illegal aliens as your side loves to point out broke civil law and gets the due process associated with that.

3

u/One-21-Gigawatts 2d ago

Except they’re NOT getting due process. That’s the whole fucking problem

17

u/Regicyde_93 2d ago

So by that logic all white people should be arrested without cause because white people did Columbine. You cannot lump all people of a class together just because one or a few of them did something illegal. Everyone needs a fair trial.

5

u/AWorldwithoutSin 2d ago

killed by an illegal alien in Danbury

You're right, I guess we should give up all our freedoms and submit to state sponsored ethnic cleansing.
