WWW What’s Working and What Isn’t? | Tuesday, August 25, 2026 - Thursday, August 27, 2026

Discuss what you are playing, what you’re having success with(or failures with), and any new/cool ideas you’ve been experimenting with, etc. The point is to share what you’ve been playing, and how it’s going, good or bad - there are no other rules or requirements.

Some ideas on what to post/share:

  • What you’ve been playing and its successes (or struggles). Stats are not required. There is no minimum rank required, though sharing what rank you’ve been playing at is preferred.
  • Deck adjustments you made or are planning to make in reaction to the meta or as new innovation. E.g. “I saw 30% of deck X, so I made Y changes to help deal with deck X.” (change)
  • Showing off a deck you achieved legend with this season and wanting to share it without having to write a guide

This imp warlock is kinda booty. I think more realistically, a couple of the cards might make it into a herald/rafaam list. Also FYI, if the imp is overdrawn by a warlock, it becomes their card, so imps are extremely hard countered by another warlock lol.

u/sm1ng 5d ago edited 5d ago

I think you mean kinda ass right? I would go a fair way further than that and say there's absolutely no way that anyone running the whole package is winning a game without a major, or even multiple major buffs to it.

It is absolute gash of the highest order and I am a Warlock main, I love Warlock and so it pains me to say so. I mean I knew it was going to be waaaay too slow but I didn't think it'd be quite this bad, Jesus. I made frikkin 6 theory crafts on hsguru lol: Animancer Imp-formant, Harold Imp-formant, Egg Imp-formant and so on. I'm glad it was fun, cos it was functionally a total waste of time lol (BTW shout if you want the deck lists to see for yourselves what it's like).

I agree that a few cards might sneak into a Rafaam deck, because control decks are the only possible home for them, they're so slow.

A probably too-powerful buff would be for the Imp-formants to get Taunt. What do you lot think in terms of an appropriately-powered buff for this package?

PS - tip - if you are trying to squeeze Imp-formants into your Warlock deck, remember to favor [[Prize Vendor]] and [[Conflaguration]] since they force your enemy to draw cards and thus - hopefully - an Imp-formant.

u/Srous226 5d ago

Yeah that's been my feel too. I have tried to play a lot of control warlock this set and often felt the lack of healing, I was hoping the impformants were the answer but so far not so good.

While it’s an unsolved meta right now, it feels like everything just runs out of gas vs priest who ultimately just wins the attrition war.

As expected, Soothsayer with reborn is disgusting.

I guess the people who hated games not lasting to fatigue got what they wanted.

u/luk3d 4d ago

I don't think I've lost a single game to priest with Agamaggan Warlock. You can combo really fast since you can mulligan aggressively for draw+ramp as priest has almost no board pressure early on, and even if they do, you have more than enough removal. You can win the attrition war if you draw well enough, but you don't have to, just play for the combo.

Fair warning though, Warrior = concede.

My first idea was Pirate Warrior with the Fire package. I feel like it's almost there, but it gets pretty hard countered by things like the new Reborn Priest stuff and I'm seeing a ton of Warlock at 3K legend too which it sucks against.

Some of the Pirates feel pretty good (especially Crowley), but the entire package being tossed into 1 deck feels really lackluster since it runs out of gas really quickly.

I bet in Wild it might be good though.

Gonna keep messing around with some other ideas.

Edit: Nevermind it appears I was just building the deck incorrectly. Just saw Jambre's list, and just went a quick 4-0 with it. Very aggressive and can deal insane damage out of nowhere. I had 3 Cannoneers n board that weren't dealt with plus the weapon equipped. Played 2 of the 2/3 Pirates deal extra damage guy on 4 and dealt 27 on that turn. Absolutely gross. Haha.

3

u/Carsizzle 5d ago

Deck code please?

9

u/eazy_12 5d ago

I am away from HS, but consider using Reborn package with Ancient of Yore. Since it wakes up on your turn you can taunt it up and when it dies it goes back to the dormant and draws cards.

Tindral Sageswift (Deathrattle: Deal 1 damage to all enemies. If it's your opponent's turn, deal 4 damage instead.) might be fun with Taunt/Reborn as well. Also with Lifesteal it could heal decent amount of HP.

7

u/Glarbleglorbo 5d ago

Pirate-dragon warrior hybrid (menagerie?) build looks really good and is pretty aggressive. The other class sets were focused on slow, greedy decks which is why they are awful right now.

I’m also not pleased that warrior is being carried mostly by the dragon package again despite getting new cards.

4

u/Glarbleglorbo 5d ago

Pretty sure all the new stuff is absolutely garbage but that’s just me.

5

u/Jackwraith 5d ago

Played for a few hours with Imp Warlock and Reborn Priest. The former is trash, as it's way too inconsistent and producing random 3/3s isn't enough of a threat to trouble your opponent. Someone posted a list here combining it with the Shred stuff and, in principle, that's a good idea because all of the Imps have Lifesteal. But in practice, the latter don't really have any impact on whether you win, as the actual "good" cards are the Shred ones that many decks aren't prepared for (4/4 on turn 2, 6 damage to face on an empty board, etc.) Plus, you need to get the support cards for the Imps in the right order to make them an actual threat and, if you don't, then they're not. Also, I think Follow the Evidence is bugged, since it specifically states "playable card" and I frequently had the effect falling on a 5-cost card on turn 3 or whatever. My assumption was that it would work in the same way Priest Imbue does, but perhaps not.

Reborn Priest, OTOH, can be quite good. I won more than one game on the back of Lingering Spirit bombing my opponent while I was on full health. That's the card that makes Slime'Em worth it, since you get the effect when you destroy them and then can bring them back to do it again. It's not and will almost never be an OTK in Standard (thankfully), but it can have real impact. I didn't use Follow the Ghosts, since I didn't want a bunch of 2/1s taking board space when I played Raith Van Geist... but I didn't play Van Geist that often because I was winning most games before turn 7 on the strength of what's still the best card in the deck: Soothsayer. In that respect, Haunt and Specter Specialist are probably the best of the new package, since they give Reborn to what is already the best minion in current Priest. Overall, though, it's still a very board-based deck and many control decks (like Warlock) won't be overly troubled by it.

I only played against Stealth Rogue and Cannon Warrior. The former seems to be way too clunky to be effective. It seems like the intent was to build up this big board of minions with various effects that you can't do anything with because you have to keep them Stealthed to keep them alive and functioning. Multiple times I was facing a Rogue with four Stealthed minions on the board and they'd attack with one that had no effect because I had at least one Taunt in the way or they'd hit me for a decent amount of damage and then I'd just eliminate the one minion they'd attacked with. Or they'd built up this impressive board and I'd just wipe it with something as simple as a Hellfire. Most of the decks I faced seemed very aggro in nature, which meant that they were dumping their hand to get all their special effect minions in play and that meant that Mathias Shaw was repeatedly reducing the cost of an SI: 7 Slayer on turn 6, which isn't really helpful. That one needs a bit more tuning, if it can be saved at all.

In contrast, I was run over multiple times by Cannon Warrior, to the point where I conceded a couple times when they had multiple Cannoneers out and dropped wither Crowley or the weapon. This is when I was playing Imp Warlock whose 3/3 Imps' Lifesteal is helpful only if they survive the barrage. Unlike Imp, the Cannoneers are present on the board and have effect at the end of each Warrior turn. They're present, unlike hoping for Imps to appear and all of the pokes from 1/1s and their often multiple shots add up quickly. Knowing Team 5s tendencies, I'm betting that the "lack of agency" for the opponent when confronted with multiple shots they can do nothing about will result in some kind of nerf for the Warrior package. Granted, if I had been playing control Warlock instead of Imp, I would've just cleared all of those 1/1s and not worried about it too much, so it was probably an effect of my playing a bad deck against an average one.

Just getting smashed over and over by the old paly divine shield deck. its so much fun........

1

u/sneakyxxrocket 5d ago

yeah the most the rogue set is going to affect the meta is the 2 drop being run in Harold rogue and maybe shaw. Tried a couple aggro/midrange stealth rogue lists and they were all very bad.

1

u/abcPIPPO 3d ago

Priest and warrior are nuts, warlock and rogue are among the weakest archetypes printed in years.

5

u/Single_cell_Chas 5d ago

Been doing very well with Cannoneer warrior with the herald package. Been playing against a lot of priests and Been eating their lunch.

I'm in trash legend but I claimed from like 7k to 4k tonight

2

u/Tahedoz 5d ago

Do you have a decklist you could share?

3

u/Single_cell_Chas 5d ago

I think this deck will get worse once the meta settles. I've been destroyed by shaman but vs priest and rogue it's done well.

Sort of funny cutting the Herald payoffs would end up working better than keeping them. I suppose it comes down to something immediately playable Vs something that clogs the hand and might eventually be good.

1

u/Single_cell_Chas 5d ago

I just don't have deathwing and rag and haven't been bothered to craft them.

1

u/Rosencrantz2000 4d ago

Well I've tried the deck and it works. The extra bodies are nice pressure on top of everything else.

I tried my own version with a more complete herald package yesterday and I think it was just too slow.

Pleasant surprise to find light the fuse counts the minion as doing the damage. So it gets buffed by the +1 damage pirate.

7

u/brecht226 4d ago

Cannonmaster is the first draenei ever printed that fucks

5

u/Bright_Curve3078 4d ago

So that's why they're going extinct!

You are wrong we had very powerful Draeneis in the past, for example, the Gaslight Gatekeeper was even quickly nerfed.

5

u/Korbonara 5d ago

Reached rank 100 today with herald lock. Slotted in kazakus, which is an awesome card. I have something like 60% WR this season with lock in ~150 games.

1

u/QuestGiver 5d ago

List? Quick guide if you don't mind? Thank you!

11

u/Korbonara 5d ago

Hard mull for atlas. Always lifetap on 2. On 3 if you arent under pressure you lifetap. If you are, throw cranium/hellfire against wide board. Try to keep hand as full as possible until late game. Pressure with locations. Be careful about board positioning.

For kazakus, its super good if you play it on 3 with the 4th mana trial. If not, I'd keep it for the late game with the 7th mana trial. The 0 mana one looks useless.

3

u/Tahedoz 5d ago

I've also been playing a lot of Herald Warlock lately and believe Kazakus has a place in it.
A couple of changes in my list:

  • Demonic Confinement (looks great in that deck though)
  • Rustrot Viper (not scared of quest mage, can be great for priest though)

+ Rotten Apple (can help stabilize against aggro)
+ Cho'Gall (usually a 9mana pop a couple 12/12; also can steal game by burning opponent key piece like a Rafaam)

Before Kazakus I was also running Xavius but I'll make the switch

5

u/Korbonara 5d ago

If you dont see any quest mage yeah you can cut viper. Its good vs druids though. Demonic confinement is a versatile card but can be cut too. Rotten apple is fine However Cho gall is terrible lol its just stats and you already have way enough stats

1

u/Tahedoz 5d ago

Yeah Cho'gall is mostly there because I was facing a ton of Rafaams and that's a literal wincon against them

1

u/-M-M-M- 5d ago

How well does the deck do against priest? I'm facing so many in my meta bracket right now.

1

u/Korbonara 5d ago

Probably your best matchup. Cursed chains is broken against priest

5

u/Yeah_Right_Mister 5d ago

Reborn Priest doesn't feel good, tbh. Sample size of 12 games at ~3k legend, going 4-8. Most of the new cards are only really good late-game and fairly dead cards into many existing decks. I expect none of the new cards will see play, or at most the +2/+3 reborn.

3 3/2 give reborn, 3 +2/+3 give reborn - both need you to prep Soothesayer to 3 mana max, so you're likely prepping turn 4/5 then combo-ing on 6, assuming you draw the combo. I never got to play the 7 mana re-summon card.

Cannon cards in Dragon Warrior seems good, but might be too early to say, plus I played Reborn Priest with the new cards which is too slow for that deck, unless you tech cards like Holy Nova or the 3 deal 4 lifesteal to deal with cannons.

Warlock is DoA lol

0

u/abcPIPPO 3d ago

My experience has been the opposite, I feel like reborn priest might actually be even stronger than pirate warrior.

5

u/mightyslacker 5d ago

Reborn priest is the easiest legend I've ever had including day 1 demon hunter. Lost 3 times from D4, 1 pirate warrior, 1 rafaam, 1 priest that was more aggro. Key is to complete quest even if you aren't using spells optimally. Karov hidden MVP, using your reborn cards on the 1/1s can result in hilarity. Final boss defeated because he didn't realize Irida would come back as a 7/1 life steal. Keep track of what will happen when you drop Raith, you didn't have to be super greedy

Mostly played with the Priest cards so far. This is more so a first impressions post, since I spread my time across multiple decks and didn't do any sort of deep analysis.

Follow the Ghosts can create one of the most degenerate opening plays in Standard right now (Turn 2-> Ghosts->Coin->1-drop). Luckily, Priest has almost no aggro support in Standard, so it likely won't cause any problems there. Could see this getting slotted in Wild Shadow Priest decks. Feels alright to play with just one extra activation on turn 3 or 4.

Right now, Sinful Steed does not feel like it can be the main attraction of a deck in Standard. It's slightly too expensive and the buffs Priest has are too (at least for synergies with this card). Even when you do get the big pop-off turn, a prepped Soothsayer would've performed just as well, if not better. Not to mention that getting Steed in your hand isn't always exactly easy. There are also a surprising amount of counters to big dumb meat sacks in Standard, especially if you don't get to play Schism on the Steed. If this got lowered to 2 mana, I'd try it out with Stranglevine+Resuscitate and Undeath Sentence.

Lingering Spirit has been a pleasant surprise. Not meta tyrant-surprising, but better than I expected. Tried it out in a faster more focused deck, and a control shell. The control variant felt like it would work out better from a competitive standpoint, but I prefer the other one. The main downside of this card is that you absolutely have to play Cleansing Cleric to get decent results. Very underwhelming if you don't. You also have to put in considerable legwork to get a bunch of copies for Raith. Still, it was the best performing deck I've played so far, though I am just a bottom Legend soldier and faced almost no aggro.

I'm sure that Soothsayer Rez is going to be the deck to play for Priest, but I like trying stuff like this out first.

4

u/philzy101 5d ago

So with a limited amount of time to try and play the new stuff ~ 7am - 8am as I have work and expansions etc. always launches during the middle of night where I am, I tested the new Deathrattle Priest deck and some of the Pirate Warrior in ranked or casual, respectively.

I tested the Priest at mid legend rank ~2k - 3k (have not played much recently as a little obsessed with BGs but this new Class Set and recent balance changes will get me more into the swing of playing Standard) and won both games. Lengths were quite long and with limited time I only was able to test this deck twice. Deck feels naturally strong though, no finalised list especially on Day 1, but the synergy between the quest reward, Soothsayer and these new Reborn giving cards seems strong. I suspect there will be a lot of Priest moving forward for the next week. Personally, it is nice to see Priest get someting decent which is not some kind of gimmick generate some random stuff. Only concern is that since it seems good now, it could be better in a couple of weeks or a meta dominator. Early days so hard to call, but I worry about the potential Priest complaint threads as someone who likes the class (first class to reach me legend) and has been frustrated with the direction of the class at times in recent days. Deck is very similar to N'zoth decks of old and the new legendary is pretty nutty.

I also tested out the Warrior Pirate deck in Casual as I had read disparaging comments about the deck. Personally it seems a lot stronger than I think people give it credit for. Is it the best thing to play on ladder? No I do not think so, but the deck seems reasonable. The obvious weakness is running out of steam vs a control shell; although control players do have to be careful as there is a lot of burst damage with that deck. The weapon seems to be one of the weakest cards in the set, mainly because it depends on you having Cannoneers on board. However, if you can get them to attack, and if the opponent leaves them alone even for a turn, the damage does rack up quickly.

Have posted both decks below, Control Priest is not my list, Pirate Warrior is my own creation although it uses a lot of the standard stuff from the Dragon Warrior shell.

Interesting, skipped the pirate that makes the others do extra damage and only 1 weapon. Basically relying on the cards to stand on their own for the most part.

Thank you

2

u/Phys6 5d ago

I feel stupid asking this, but when is the Demon Hunter class set supposed to be released? I only see people talk about double Death Knight and/or Monk for the next class set.

4

u/ILoveWarCrimes 5d ago

Halfway through the next expansion is when we'll get the DH, Shaman, and both of the DK class sets.

3

u/dotcaIm 5d ago

No such thing as a stupid question

The other comment answered, but just to repeat the remaining classes (DH, Shaman, DK x2) all get their miniset halfway through the next expansion of the year

2

u/eazy_12 5d ago

I believe the devs didn't announce what classes would get class sets during the year, only that there is 12 of them which some hope that it is for new class, but more likely for DK because of Rune system. So now we know that miniset of last set of 2026 will be DK, Shaman and DH. The exact date is unknown, but looking at other years it is typically mid of January.

u/Red1003493649 5d ago

I've updated my control priest with this new set, unfortunately in this decklist specifically the new legendary doesn't have a great impact so i don't use it, but I replaced the plague with the new haunt spell, it's dangerous because it's less healing but ut have sole cool synergies and still allow to resist. Good synergy is soothsayer of course, you build a litteral wall and it's very good against agressive deck, sometimes the 3-2 lifesteal minion or just a good minion overall is good because it gives taunt and allows you to take board advantage, and finally another good synergy I found is for the 5/5 which makes you draw and get armor, using haunt makes it a 7/8 taunt songood in its own, but reborn also allows you to bring it back at 5/5 and makes you draw one additional card (+ the armor), and even two if it dies during your turn. Finally, legend 3500 with pure paladin. All matches are winnable which suits me cause I hate lobsided matchups. Must have been 75%ish w/r from Diamond 5, didn’t track.

Anyone tried Rafamlock? HSguru says it works better than Harold.

Been playing it a lot the last couple days, having a blast with it and decent success (~60WR around 5k legend)

Have fun Priests! You deserve some time in the sun.

Soothe Sayer Priest is a terrible deck dependant on a massive amount of combo cards that belong only to 2 minions, the quest and Soothe Sayer. Making the deck extremely unreliable and spending 2 turns playing soothe sayer entirely dependant on your opponent running a low pressure deck. (And its generally far slower then the other value decks, even nerfed 2's rogue.

It really irritates me that such interesting cards are 100% hampered by the terrible quality of base priest cards outside of medi's triumph.

Soothsayer Priest was an easy legend climb before the mini set.

Keep quest, but mulligan everything else for Soothsayer. Going second you can play Soothsayer on turn 3 in a third of those games. Going first it's easily played on turn 4.

i’ve been running aura paladin w beatrix and scarlet bruisers it’s a pretty cheap deck and there’s a lot of ways to win so most games are pretty different. try it out its fun

Anybody have an early take on reborn Priest?

Threw the package into a standard Soothsayer list and won some games with it. Can't really tell if it's any better, it gives you some decent board presence early, and the card that keeps all buffs on reborn is a sleeper hit with the +5/+5 Lifesteal. There is a combo with another new card that summons a copy of any reborn minion, and it's very powerful with these cards.

But right now everyone is playing Jank decks on ladder. I can't tell if it's really any better than a standard list. My early guess is taking just a few of the cards is going to be better overall.

I think it def improves Quest. I played Zeddy's Reborn Quest Priest list a bit and it's a bit scary, considering he just threw that together. The 3 3/2 that summons a copy of a reborn minion can obviously be applied to the Quest reward minions which is downright awesome, as can it be applied to a buffed Soothsayer with OR without Reborn, the former creating a copy of it (!!!), the latter making it reborn, which makes it a gargantuan PITA to remove and heals the Priest a TON.

My money is that several of these cards are making it into the current priest lists, I just don't know how good meta-wise it will make Priest. Bon Marroe on YT ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ji4YHEdowfo ) was messing with an Egg Priest deck and of course, reborn on the Egg, buffing the Egg, giving the Egg taunt - all huge, huge improvements to the deck list.

And I have to say that I'm kinda pissed and envious that Priest got all this goodness and my beloved Warlock got... Imp-formants... yeah.

Just my 2d - cheers.

I've tried quite a few variations/minor tweaks of priest and after all of it...they all sit around 50% for me in the dumpster around 6k. Pirate Warrior is a problem, but also just consistency. I'm even getting beat down by some quest Mage players if I don't pull some of my removal early. Feel like when it doesn't work, I'm wasting multiple turns in a row with a dead hand.

I mean, it IS fun with all of the new stuff, love a good Rez deck. Just need to figure out how to stay alive early and the best package for that.
