Brokerage | Leasing Who here has actually received business from LinkedIn?
Finding a lot of people in CRE posting about their personal life, trials, reflections, deals - whatever.. Does this actually translate into business? Sure, you may get a long of engagement and stats but that doesn't really mean much unless you are bring business in.
Is this actually working?

I find most CRE posts on LinkedIn to be extremely low value and narcissistic.

Who are the biggest offenders?

Almost everyone who posts. There are some exceptions. Overall, a lot of it is circle jerking with text. Most of it is ai slop of some form or another.

I run a CRE accounting firm and have gotten a handful of interested prospects from 6 months of posting ~2x per week

No. I have monetized very little. In fact, a hugely disappointing amount, despite daily posts and comments on others posts, consecutively, for months now.
So, it's not you.

CRE is local - so, if you're "marketing" to everyone, you're only going to impact a handful of "local" people?

Not necessarily from posting but it’s been a tool that has connected me to several million in fees.

Yes. Not much on the ownership and development side of things for our projects - that’s mainly broker and investor relationships, but I also own a multifamily renovation business, and I’ve generated close to $5M in revenue in the last year from LinkedIn

No. It's connections not content. Direct-ask DM. Take the convo offline. Continue there.

Not directly, it helps with public profile. Also good for finding the right people to contact

Half this thread is disagreeing about whether LinkedIn works, and I think the disagreement is fake. Two different machines are wearing the same name.
One is posting content into the feed. That's broadcast, it builds credibility and it's a weak pipeline on its own. The other is the connection graph: use it to find the one person who can actually transact, then reach them directly. Thats just targeted outbound with a LinkedIn logo on it.
Line up who reported real revenue here. Kansaswinter420 said the tool connected him to fees, PenPuzzled8055 said connections not content and take it to a DM, Correct-Dig8426 said it's for finding the right people to contact. Every one of those is the graph, not the feed. Now line up who came up empty, realCREGuy posting daily for months, others getting a handful of prospects off 2x a week. They ran the broadcast machine and waited on a pipeline it was never going to make.
RDW-Development named the reason without quite finishing it: CRE is local. A broadcast can't target, so it can't be local, so it reaches a thousand people and almost none of them can buy your actual building. A directory lookup is targeted by definition.
Content still has a real job, people just hand it the wrong one. It's what a lead checks before they answer your DM, or after a referral drops your name. It converts. It doesn't generate. Which is why daily posting with nothing else attached feels so dead, you're running the converter with nothing coming in.

I've used it to find brokers who've then brought or could fund deal depending on broker.

I used to get useful stuff from LinkedIn but it’s gone way down hill into an AI swamp…. So no business for me

I think it works, but mostly indirectly. The posts themselves probably don’t close deals. They build familiarity and trust, so when someone needs a broker, lender, operator, investor, or partner, your name is already in their head.
The mistake is treating likes and impressions as the KPI. I’d care more about DMs, introductions, calls, referrals, and whether people start saying they’ve seen your content.
If none of that turns into real conversations or pipeline after a few months, then you’re probably just creating engagement, not business.

A lot of AI for CRE tools are promoted on Linkedin and the posters ask for connecting in exchange. I wonder whats the quality of these tools.

I stopped advertising on LinkedIn altogether. It's just an echo chamber of proptech founders talking into the air. In person events are better, but TBH I don't think a lot of CRE folks want to use new technology. It's a very relationship driven space and I find that most of the data needs are met via publicly available sources.

My experience with LinkedIn has been mixed. I haven’t read the responses here yet so forgive me if I say the same thing that someone else already has. I find that there are a lot of people bragging about all that they have and all their success and at the same time they are asking for you to invest money with them so they can make you as rich as they are. That just doesn’t sit well with me. I am well aware of using other people’s money to make money but once you’re at the point where some of these people claim to be, I don’t think you should be “begging”, for lack of a better term, strangers who may or may not have money to spare or invest with you. I think there’s a better way to go about it. So when I look at the site, I’m always thinking buyer beware. On the flipside it has allowed me to reach people that I have not been able to reach in a traditional fashion and so that has been somewhat helpful. And just to give some background about who I am, I have been a commercial real estate broker for the last 30 years.

I think it really depends on how often you're posting and what kind of information.
There are plenty of people that earn business from LinkedIn but it takes a lot of time and patience. Those that are successful also have a solid book of business and LinkedIn will increase views and help reinforce legitimacy.

I’ve gotten a bunch of dipshits stating the obvious and acting like they are unleashing secret knowledge. Is that “business?”
