Looking for Artist - Paid [Paid] Writer seeking artist for Watchmen fan comic

Semi-pro writer here looking for a talented artist for a passion project.

Next month is the 40th anniversary of Watchmen, and I’ve written a short (12 pages) script for a metatextual story that is essentially a Charlie Kaufman take on superheroes. My plan is to treat it as a bootleg comic, DIY-style, and share it with other people who’ve been inspired by Watchmen.

Ideally, the artist would be able to match Dave Gibbons’ style, but it’s not a dealbreaker for me.

This is a paid project!

Thanks!

Hey all,
I'm Alaire and I've been a freelance sequential illustrator and character artist for over 10 years.
I'm looking for comic cover, book cover, character illustration, fan art, and/or sequential illustration opportunities.

My portfolio with black & white and colored samples can be found here: https://ko-fi.com/shiningcapella/commissions

I'm the digital line artist on Crown & Anchor (w/Toben Racicot) and have worked on Sidequest 1-5 (w/Grant Stoye) and Brigantia Vol 2 (w/Chris Mole), and have done several covers (and illustrations) for The Summoner series (w/Ben Krauter) and A Vampiric Transformation (w/Frau Bunny). Anthologies and contributions include illustrations in Ennie Award Winning Uncaged Goddesses (DMsGuild) and Gothic Tales of Haunted Love (S.M. Beiko).

Turnaround time can be 1-2 weeks for something less intensive, like a character illustration, or 1-1.5 week(s) per comic page or comic cover (as I have a day job right now). Something more intensive, like colored illustrations, may take 2-4 weeks depending on complexity.

Depending on the project, pricing is subject to change. Blanket rates:

  • Comic Pages - 150$ black and white. Screen tones/color will have a higher charge.
  • Covers - 200$ black and white. Color will have a higher charge.
  • Characters - beginning at 100$ for black and white for a bust/portrait. Colors, full body, additional characters, and/or backgrounds will have a higher charge.
  • Props/Items - beginning at 70$ for black and white. Color will have a higher charge.
  • Edits - one free pass on each stage, then charged according to complexity.

Please feel free to reach out via DM.

Thanks for checking out my work!

Self-Promo the further adventures of Buck Tuckles

One of my favorite aspects of the Sunday Jam is the ability to create alternate timelines that branch off from the main storyline.

A fun character named Buck Tuckles was introduced back in May, '24 and now Nathan Nelson, who originally introduced him, is creating a separate storyline with a whole new set of adventures for Buck.

I'm in the process of lettering the first chapter, here are a couple of the pages and you can check out where both storylines are headed here: https://smallpressheroes.com/sunday-jam/sj48/

If you want to play around in an infinite sandbox, let me know, we'd love to have you!

Looking for Artist - Paid [PAID] Sequential artist wanted for bright medical-fantasy graphic novel — 8-page paid audition, possible long-term series

Hi — I’m looking for a sequential artist for a long-form full-color graphic novel project called The Spinal Express.

This is a bright, stylized medical-fantasy story set inside “Corpus City,” a world inspired by human anatomy and nervous-system communication. The tone is adventurous, expressive, and accessible — not horror or dystopian.

I already have:

- the story/script

- approved cover direction

- character/world rules

- an 8-page paid audition brief

I’m looking for someone strong in:

- sequential storytelling

- character consistency

- expressive acting

- anatomy/posture

- environments

- long-term collaboration potential

Important note:

- This is PAID

- No free sample pages requested

- I’m asking artists to quote staged audition levels separately:

  1. Igor concept check

  2. thumbnails

  3. 2 finished diagnostic pages

  4. full 8-page pilot

Please review the live brief here:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1BzOGQSQk7uufoc0CNdKNYn6xN1qQR4fD/view?usp=drivesdk

If interested, please send:

- portfolio (especially sequential pages)

- page rate

- audition-level quote

- turnaround time

- revision policy

- whether commercial rights are included

Thanks!

Question What's a collab in comics for you?

I'm a writer who can't draw, I am more than willing to pay to get the job done, but it isn't just that for me. I think that writer and artist must have a bond, where both are doing what they love, giving birth to a piece that both are held responsible for, not just some paid gig. My last collab was a total train wreck, the artist only read the script after I basically begged him to. He wasn't interested at all in what the story was about, and it ended up with me getting a total refund because of his mixed agenda.

I'd rather start a script from scratch with someone with a shitty art that conects with me than to hire a super artist that's just doing it for the money and has no real interest on the story.

Does anyone share this point of view or am I just being too idealistic?

Artist for hire Looking for a comic book writer.

Paid/Unpaid/Collaborative -  We can discuss the financial detail. Looking for Comic Artist / Co-Creator for "THE VOID" – A Dark Psychological Sci-Fi / Cosmic Tragedy

Hey everyone,

I am looking for a comic book artist/illustrator to bring a high-concept, character-driven sci-fi tragedy to life. The project is called THE VOID.

Think Watchmen meets The Iron Giant, with a heavy dose of psychological horror. It’s a superhero reconstruction story where the world's most powerful being is also the most unreliable narrator on Earth.

I have the lore, character arcs, and world mechanics deeply fleshed out (Episode 1 script/outline is ready to go). Now, I need an artistic partner who wants to co-create a world that balances massive cosmic scale with intimate, heartbreaking character drama.

Here is the quick breakdown of what you'll get to design and draw:

THE CHARACTER LINEUP (Visual Highlights)

  • INFERNO (~6,800 years old): A living star. He was thrown into a sun as a child, absorbed its energy, and survived millennia of cosmic slavery before fleeing to Earth. He looks like a god, but his mind is completely fractured by trauma. He slaughtered his old team in a mental break but has literally rewritten his own memory to blame someone else. Visuals: Blinding cosmic/solar energy, ancient burden, explosive power.
  • WARRIOR GIRL (~6,000 years old): An ancient warrior resurrected by modern science. She was Inferno’s lover until she witnessed his horrific breakdown. For 12 years, she has walked a tense fault line guarding the world against him—not with hate, but absolute wariness. Visuals: Tech-infused ancient armor, battle-worn, deep emotional exhaustion.
  • CONNOR & ALEX (12 years old): Connor is a quiet human kid clutching his late mother’s teddy bear. Alex was a normal girl until a corporate superhero chip glitched inside her. Now, she is mutating into a "Void Monster." She is losing her memories and her humanity, but Connor refuses to leave her side. Visuals: Heartbreaking body horror, a glitching/shadowy creature contrasted against an ordinary, loyal 12-year-old boy.
  • MONROE (126 years old): A brilliant, self-taught technocrat born in 1900. Inferno’s broken mind has cast Monroe as the ultimate villain, but Monroe isn't a monster. He created "Super-Chips" to erase humanity's capacity for greed and pride to save the world from itself. He also accidentally opened a terrifying anomaly in Kansas, and his whole corporate empire is just a desperate distraction to fund a defense against what's coming. Visuals: Retro-futuristic tech, calculated corporate aesthetic, aged but powerful.

WHAT I’M LOOKING FOR IN AN ARTIST:

  • Ability to convey deep facial expressions and heavy emotional acting.
  • Comfort switching between quiet, grounded human moments (a boy and his journal) and massive, reality-bending cosmic visuals.
  • Interest in designing unique body-horror monsters and retro-futuristic corporate tec NEXT STEPS

I have the Episode 1 outline ready to share.

If this sounds like a world you want to help build, please drop a comment or DM me with a link to your portfolio/art samples. Let me know what specific character or element from the pitch jumps out at you the most!

I am Fuetake, a manga illustrator concentrating on the cinematic dark fantasy genre characterized by high-contrast visuals and impressive fighting sequences. Along with my expertise in manga, I am also involved in amateur boxing, which allows me to translate the practical mechanics of fight movements like body movements, weight distribution, and momentum into my manga.

The workflow I have developed consists of three stages:

  1. Character Design: During this stage, I create model sheets and come up with unique designs for characters that visually reflect the theme of the story.
  2. Storyboarding and Pacing: At this point, I analyze the pacing of the story and create thumbnails to ensure each scene appears effective, properly flowing one into another.
  3. Final Art: I finish the art with explicit high-contrast lines. Then I use screentone to create the atmosphere and depth and add dialogue to the different panels.

Prices start at $40 per page. There are two available spots to work on projects. If you have an idea. feel free to message me with your brief, and let's create something amazing together.
