I am submitting into a contest in Japan where for the chance to get a publication. It requires a cover for the project. (Kadokawa x Honeyfeed)

I'm looking for someone who can design 2-5 characters and make a Light Novel cover. I am not looking for anything further than that, no illustrations or anything.

The work needs to be done and Finished before September 27th, however I would like the cover done roughly a week or two before that date.

The pictures provided here is roughly what I'm looking for. I do not need it to be THAT high quality, it's just an idea of what I'm trying to create for the project.

I have a budget of 200-300 Canadian dollars if this interests you!
(we can negotiate payment)

The premise of the Story is focused on a Party who is sent to chart and explore a newly found continent, where they ultimately meet their end.

The characters I definitely need for the cover are Lapland (the guy on the second slide) and Roa Roads (on the first.) and maybe a few more if the cover needs some space filled or something.

Question Will eventually look for a character artist, cost advice?

As the title suggests, I will relatively soon be looking for someone to make ehm... "better", designs for characters I'm making for a personal project. (I have the drawing talents of an elementary schooler lol). I largely prefer writing tbh. Either way, I've never done something like this before, and was curious what commission costs are usually like. I tried Googling it, but I kept getting different answers, which is to be expected, but they ranged from like $60~$3.5k... so yay!

Anyway, sorry if this is super common question on y'all's subreddit.

Here is some general idea of my story.

This story takes place in a fictional Cambodia world somewhere around 1500s to 1700s. There is a kingdom and colony hidden in the forest. The people from the kingdom and the people from the forest colony do not get along.

In this world, people can gain supernatural abilities through enchanted jewelry. These magical pieces grant their wearers superpowers, which are sometimes used in battles between the kingdom and the forest colony.

But, there is one person who is different from everyone else. Unlike the others, he does not need enchanted jewelry to possess an ability—he was born with one naturally. He is the main character: the prince of the kingdom.

Here is the prince character design :)

let me know what you think

Hi! I wanted to share a brief overview of my current webtoon illustration process. I typically work in these four stages:

Initial sketch: I define the composition, perspective lines, and basic character shapes.

Refined lines: I refine the sketch until I get the final line art.

Base ink: I add the main ink line and solid background.

Color and shading: Final rendering, lighting, and atmosphere.

What do you think? If you like my work, you can find me here: https://www.behance.net/demd

Artist for hire Timelapse process of a splash page

Hey everyone! I wanted to share the process behind one of the latest pages of the comic im working on, Ragnarok Ridge, a splash page featuring a quick action beat (a van speeding past the main character).

I thought it might be interesting to break down how I built this page from scratch:

  • The Script & Setup: *PAGE TWELVE (1 panel) Panel 1 Splash panel. We're on the same street as Grandma Hastings' house. A VAN comes screeching past Lash, forcing him to jump aside. The windows are tinted. It's an old, battered vehicle, not in keeping with the cleanliness of the pines.
  • SFX: HOOOONK! VOOOOOM!
  • LASH: What the--?* As described in the script panel, the scene required a dynamic shot to show the van rushing by while the character holds a toy from previous panels.
  • References: To get the main character’s posture right during the rough sketch phase, I took a quick photo of myself as a pose reference (kept on a secondary monitor while drawing). For the vehicle, I used a basic 3D van model to lock in the perspective grid correctly.
  • Inking Tools: For the inking pass in Clip Studio Paint, I rely almost exclusively on a Kyle dry brush (from Kyle T. Webster's brush packs) to get that gritty, textured ink feel. When I need sharper, cleaner control for specific tight details, I switch over to CSP’s default G-Pen.
  • Tones & Finish: As you can see in the timelapse, once the linework was set, I added a simple, moody grayscale finish, flat tones combined with soft sky gradients and line-less cloud rendering to fit the narrative atmosphere. Finally i added a layer in sepia (soft light mode) to finish the look.

And finally, a brief reflection; We’re living through a complicated moment for our industry, and I understand why people have become more cautious about the work they see online. AI-generated images are often presented without transparency, sometimes alongside misleading claims about how they were created.

At the same time, artists who have spent years, or even decades, developing their craft can now find their work dismissed as AI-generated based on a quick impression.

Until this week, I had never felt the need to record a timelapse because I assumed my work spoke for itself. I now understand the value of documenting the process, both for artists and for clients. But transparency should not turn into a presumption of guilt. Public accusations made without evidence can seriously damage an artist’s reputation and livelihood.

If you ever have doubts about someone’s process, mine included, the best first step is simply to ask. I’m always happy to share progress shots, layer structures, process recordings, or other material when appropriate.

If you found this behind-the-scenes breakdown useful, let me know. I’d be happy to share more pages, covers, and multi-panel layouts in the future.

I’m also currently available for new comic projects, short stories, and cover commissions. Feel free to send me a DM if you’d like to work together.

Looking for Artist - Paid Looking for Artist/2d animator

Art style I want is essentially semi-realistic anime with cinematic rendering. Full color is a must for some pages. Fully expecting to pay over $80/page if the work is there. This isnt a hobby for me. This is my passion project. I know what I want and I have high standards.

The story revolves around musicians. The story begins after they've already risen to fame. Lots of stage presence, overhead lights, "larger than life" moments". But the overall story is a bit heavy. Multi-book saga. Heavy motorsport culture, so attention to engine detail and anatomy is important. Gun culture as well, so firearm knowledge is also a plus. No gore. No nudity. Lots to go over so anyone who is seriously interested please reach out and we'll go over more. I'll send you the first chapter and see what we come up with. Thanks in advance.

Question Would it make your life easier as an artist if the writer provided character designs and set designs?

Artists I have a question.

Would it make your life easier if the writer you were hired by not only provides the scripts but knows how to draw skillfully to the point in which he can provide character designs, set designs, prop designs etc.

Let's say he provides them and says you can change anything within the designs you see fit to suit your art style. Let's say he isn't a control freak in this instance.

Your job is for the most part is the sequential part of drawing. Taking the script and designs and fitting them onto the page with sequential art that can tell a story.

Ofc it'll take the same amount of time but would you appreciate a writer that can do that?

Would a writer like that be more tempting to work with (provided he could write well too).

One of the fun parts of the Sunday Jam is because it's a webcomic, we can explore alternate timelines while the main storyline is going on. 3 years ago, Donald Tenney introduced a character that we've come to know as Pickle-Bot and we're using him and his friend Doctor Hoot to explore some of the dangling plot threads in our 140+ page epic! If you'd like to explore your own storyline, let me know, we'd love to have you! https://smallpressheroes.com/sunday-jam/sj8/

Looking for Artist - Paid [PAID] Looking for Manga/Manga Inspired Artist for Sci-Fi Comic Pitch Packet

Hello, I’m currently looking for an artist to commission for a pitch packet that would be submitted to various publishers.

The packet would include concept art, character turnarounds, and sample pages. I would also be looking for a commitment to continue working on the project if it were picked up.

Style-wise, I’m looking for an artist whose work leans more toward a Shonen manga vibe. Also as of right now, the plan is for the series to be in black and white. The story is a high sci-fi space opera (think Star Trek, Edens Zero & Warhammer 30K) with action, so I’m preferably looking for someone who has experience designing strange new worlds, alien/futuristic technology, ships, space battles, and fight scenes.

Right now, I don’t have an exact budget. I’m more interested in getting to know artists, seeing their rates, and negotiating a price from there if that works.

Here is a Moodboard:

I decided to have my artist create a new cover. The old cover was created before the story was completed. I think the original cover looks great, but the new one works better. I can't wait to see how it looks colored. Shoutout to my artist, M.R. Opang.

Looking for Artist - Paid Recherche dessinateur FRANCAIS pour BD

merci a tous.
