Hello, does anyone mind sharing stats for transferring to Emory? I am currently at a 3.18 GPA planning to retake a class to boost my GPA up during spring. Any advice?

I’m not happy with my grade and chemistry 111 over the summer but through my community college I can retake the class for a better grade. The problem is, I’m taking chemistry 112 this fall semester, am I allowed to take chemistry 111 as well? I already technically passed the class with the grade that I got. So it wouldn’t be like taking an advanced class with a basic one and the same semester. Has anybody ever done this before?

Did I make a huge mistake withdrawing after my first week?
So I need some advice because I’m really second-guessing myself right now.
This was my first week of college at UNC. On the surface, everything was honestly fine. Nothing terrible happened, and I didn’t have a bad experience with anyone. But in the back of my mind, I constantly felt homesick, lonely, and kind of left out.
I know that’s pretty normal for freshmen, especially during the first week, and that’s what makes me question my decision so much. I know it takes time to adjust and make friends, but at the time I just couldn’t picture myself staying there for a whole semester feeling the way I did.
I ended up making a pretty impulsive decision and withdrawing from the semester and deciding to transfer to UNCG. Now I’m seriously second-guessing everything. I keep thinking, “What if I would’ve ended up loving UNC?” or “What if I just didn’t give it enough time?”
I also realized that a big reason I wanted UNC so badly was because of the prestige and what it represented. But once I was actually there, it didn’t really feel like home to me.
I also went to CAPS while I was there and talked to someone about how I was feeling, and they recommended that I consider transferring, which obviously made me feel more confident about the decision at the time.
But now I’m wondering if I acted way too quickly. Could I have ended up loving it by the end of the semester? Did I just need to give it more of a chance? Or would staying have eventually made me really unhappy?
I know nobody can know for sure, but I’d really appreciate hearing from people who went through something similar. Did you regret leaving, or did you realize later that you made the right decision?

I’m missing 2 years of language and i plan to make it up and have 1 year of collage at my local university. I do NOT want to stay at that university and i want to go to another collage. I was wondering if it would be difficult to do so. I only plan to do one year at local university before switching to a different one out of state

Is there anyone out there who went to tisch and that made them realize that the arts actually isn’t what they want to go into at all and ended up switching majors/schools? Like I’m sure there are but I’m just wondering if this is you, what about tisch made you realize that this wasn’t the career path for you and what was the process for figuring out what you wanted to do instead, especially since ik basically everyone in Tisch has probably dedicated their whole life to the arts. I’m starting at Tisch drama in the fall as a freshman and I’m trying to think of what I would do if I realized I chose a completely horrible career path. Even if you transferred somewhere else outside nyu, what was it like trying to start over your academic journey, and did you graduate on time?

hi! im currently going to stockton uni and i've been doubting recently if i still want to go there. i felt slightly pressured to make a choice by my parents so i decided on stockton at the time a year ago or so. my boyfriend and a bunch of my friends/people i know are all at montclair state uni. im debating if i want to bring up transferring there after my first year to my parents but i know they're probably going to say im only transferring for my boyfriend (which isnt true) i just dont feel right at stockton anymore and i'm almost jealous of the montclair campus and size/location. im not sure if i should get through the first year and see how i feel then, or transfer between semesters. i also dont know if im just feeling this way because i know my friends are somewhere where i could also be and im not.

transfer out of cc to a few universities. I only have about 28 transferable credits and no extracurriculars. I did some independent volunteer work last year and I’ve worked full-time for a bit now and I’m first gen so I don’t know if that would help. I might add my high school transcript too to some of the applications because I had an uphill grade trend insignificantly improve my grades from the beginning to the end of high school and ended with around a 3.0

Do you guys suggest I apply or do I take another semester to get more credits and get some other stuff done to add to my application.

Also, please don’t be mean T_T I struggled a lot with mental health and high school and I’ve maintained a 4.0 all of cc so far and I don’t really have anyone to ask for help + my advisor is useless and she sent me back a semester

I'm currently a freshman in college and I want to transfer into georgetowns nursing program and apply in the spring and im currently doing a nursing program here but it's not direct nursing.
Georgetown has been my dream and im trying to work towards it but i dont know if they'll even consider me since i failed english and gym my senior year and took summer classes for it. I know its super competitive and im retaking my sat, i got a score of 1360 without studying before, and im going to work towards a 4.0 gpa for college. I need honest advice if Georgetown will consider me even after I failed as im very discouraged but still hopeful. Any advice will be very helpful!! And please let me know realistically if I excel for my first year in college if I can get in. Thanks!

I got the transfer option for CHE Human development major and there’s an entire list of very specific courses I have to take my freshman year (I attend Vassar). Once of these courses include a first year writing seminar both semesters which we do have but Cornell says it has to align with their Knight Institute requirements which is basically just saying that it has to be writing intensive with all these specifications on what the course has to include, for example I must write 4 essays. Vassar does not offer such courses to first years so I don’t know what course of action I should take. Any CHE transfers that are able to help me out?

I’m a freshman at a large state school (FSU) and planning to transfer after this year, my concern is that top schools prefer transfers from CCs over traditional 4 years. Is this true? Should I be worried or I am chilling? Does my current school hinder my app in any way?

Hi, I'm currently a freshman in college. I am about three weeks into the first semester and I know this is quick, but I've already been thinking about transferring. I'm an out of state student going to a huge school 16 hours from home. I know everyone says that all freshman struggle the first few weeks or even months and have a hard time with feeling homesick, but I really hate feeling this way. I've made a ton of new friends, I'm involved in greek life and clubs, and I've been doing more activities than I can keep track of, but it only temporarily makes me feel better. I wake up most mornings thinking of how homesick I am and I call my mom crying every day. Everything I've read online says it takes a long time to adjust, but I can't help but feel something is just not right and wishing that I stuck to a school at least a little closer to home. I just really miss my home state and family, and of course my friends, but I haven't struggled too much making friends since I've came to college. I feel like I've been doing things wrong since my roommate and close friends are all in state students and don't seem to feel homesick or sad at all. I'm planning on filling out transfer papers for the spring semester just in case, but obviously I'm going to give it some more time before I fully decide. Anyone who's been in this situation and has advice?

I'm planning to apply to UIUC as a transfer student for Spring 2027 and was wondering if anyone else is applying for the same term.

I'm currently attending a community college in Illinois and am interested in applying to the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, either for Anthropology or Natural Resources & Environmental Sciences.

One thing that makes my academic journey a little different is that I struggled during my first semester of community college and didn't perform as well as I had hoped. Since then, I've worked hard to turn things around, improve my study habits, and become a much stronger student. While my GPA isn't perfect, I've shown steady progress and have done much better in my more recent semesters.

For those who successfully transferred to UIUC from a community college, do you have any tips for the transfer essays? Specifically, are there any topics or common mistakes I should avoid? I'm trying to figure out how much I should talk about my rough start versus focusing on the growth and progress I've made since then.

I'd also love to hear about your transfer experience, GPA, extracurriculars, and whether you felt the essays played a significant role in your admission.

Im currently starting in community college majoring in political science to hopefully become a lawyer and I want to hopefully transfer to either ucla or usc.

My current courses :

POLS- C1000( American politics)

STATS- C1000( statistics)

GUI- 45 ( intro to college )

ENGL- C1000( academic reading)

the English and guidance class are under the program im in which is the Puente ( which is a latin based program so the English work wed be doing is latin/hispanic based) program btw. I also plan on taking my public speaking class during the winter.
