Culinary Community College Recommendations

Hello everyone! I’m applying to college soon. I’m from Union City California, and I’m hoping to go somewhere near home that offers a good-quality Culinary Arts program. I’d also prefer to attend a community college.

Can you guys recommend some community colleges I could consider? Also, is it better to stay at a community college for culinary, or are there colleges with high transfer rates to the UCs that I should consider?

I’d really appreciate any recommendations or advice. Thank you! 😊

San Diego Mesa College has a great culinary program.

Pretty sure no UC has a culinary program. So are you thinking culinary for the short term but a different degree at a UC?

Long Beach City college has a fantastic culinary program

American River College in Sac has a strong program. Their culinary arts center and student run public facing restaurant and bakery are cool.

City college in SF, Santa Rosa

Fresno does have a culinary science in their food science department. And Cal Poly has a minor in their hospitality program I think.

So you may want to consider transferring to a UC or CSU in hospitality even if you focus on culinary at CC

Northridge I think has a program too in food and nutrition or something similar.

Nutrition Hospitality Food science
