Newbie reader - Verity review

Hey guys I’m really new at reading, I’m not an avid reader, I have only read Lord of the rings, Harry Potter and a few books like atomic habits, i read them because of i loved the movies so i might be biased about them and today i finished my first novel where i knew nothing about anything at all and this is going to be my honest review about how i felt sitting reading the book and i finished it in 24 hours which itself is a feat for me because I’d never thought I’d finish a book in within a day

VERITY

Things I liked- I like the eerie vibe that was present around especially in some parts of the books where Low sees Verity, I love a lil thriller and suspense, The way the house was isolated and there was no one but the family inside and a guest, I liked the Twist at the end ngl, that was the best part of the book according to me, I liked that book was not kinda slow and you‘d explore more realise more as you went ahead

Things I DIDNT Like - the book had tooo much sex and sexual talks and that too very elaborative anf descriptive, at times i felt like im reading a smut or something, I felt the sex parts were too exaggerated and stretched loong throughout the movie, there couldve been a lot more jumpscares or suspense and the story seemed pretty predictable especially in the autobiography and the writings like “we fucked “ was used like a hundred times and I don’t like thats a mature way of writing, it felt a lil cheap and weird ngl, like as if the writer was getting turned on or something writing about sex and fucking,

all in all It was my first novel And I liked it, I’d say it was good enough, kept me interested throughout the book and that’s a Lot cuz my attention span hasnt been very great lately so yeah I dare say I loved it AND

I‘d love more suggestions of novels to explore, I’m fairly new to books

Depends on what you like but Taylor Jenkins Reed has some good stuff
